Anna-neko Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) ...this started .. as one thing & then spiraled outta control (my nerd-card may have been punched into oblivion) I've taken waaaaay too many pics: will only post some, the rest are up on Flickr Her Grace was excited to visit some local ships She may have possibly somehow thought tea was happening *innocently whistles* (teapot frm their shop! I wanna go back and buy ALL of them) ~ "this good man was quite welcoming but Master seemed annoyed he wasn't familiar with her home" (screaming offscreen: we're a town!! With a church and cemetery!! How dare they not know it!) [[pps: I'm an idiot that had dates confused, we were incorporated as town after the Revolution. my bad!]] ~ "for some reason they gave out feathers? no penknife to sharpen..." ~ "Still no tea or snacks but this meeting took an angry turn. Some upset at The Crown? person ahead of us was good-naturedly teased for his fine red coat" k.. so, the cast members give out these cards to everyone, to play along! Still confused about the feathers? That's to *snort* disguise *biggest finger quotes* as Mohawk instead of good law-abiding colonists. No treason from the colonies here, noooope! hang on.. what's that last part say? *carefully reads card* .. nope nope, forget it, I'm outta this Revolution *clutches mug of tea, exits stage right* ~ "Promises of tea on this ship, as the mob stomps on board" (yelling offscreen: nobody tell her yet!!) ~ Master insisted I mention "we're on a boat!!" (uhhhhg, the wind kept destroying her wig, hadda fix it at every opportunity) blah blah blah, at this point you can THROW STUFF INTO THE RIVER (they have couple special crates just for this) and take a quick walk below decks ~ "Travel by land is much more preferred. Too dark & cramped down here" After the ship everyone is ushered into the museum for more history, view of one original centuries-old tea chest miraculously surviving, a movie about Battles of Lexington and Concord..... No photography allowed down there ~ "ahem... but Master is trash who tried...Hey, we're already knee-deep in treason, yeah?" (don't be like me, kids! One of the posters you see is Boston Massacre art... that terrible event I cannot describe w/out snark) ~ "Master, you've promised me tea and we've been here for 2 hours already!" (..does.. it count as "reminded at gun point" if the gun's point in question was used to tap the sign?) BTW, THIS IS A THING! They do a full reenactment each year, starting with The Meeting few blocks up & marching down to the Waterfront (and somehow each year I forget 'till walk into the middle of it after work...) Real tea is involved!! Above the museum is a Tea Room (of course there is). By this point my no-flash rule was purely self-imposed to not disturb everyone aaaaaand my brain woke up long enuff to remember photography magic of "exposure lock" Left: no-flash as-is <--------> Right: telling camera exposure want, backlight be dammed! ~ "Miss informed us of their teas, possibly smuggled by the Dutch. Master suggested with all the turmoil we could simply emulate the French & drink hot chocolate instead" (yes, a real conversation that took place!) ~ "Hot tea in a festive atmosphere!" (at this point I was chugging hot apple cider like it was goin outta style, trying to acbleepulate as much heat as possible for rest of day) ~ "The shop is most hospitable, they've even laid out games for the patrons to enjoy" (each table had a diff variant with rules.. I have no idea how any of these work) the "long s" is the bane of everyone's historical reading.. Have fun deciphering some of these ♪♫ seize the moment and stay in it / it’s either that or meet the business end of a bayonet ♫ her musket is a pen... with the "pen" bit carefully removed (via one's teeth, because classy) Seriously, anyone with 3d printer can hook us up? I suddenly have a mighty prop need!! some meta humor ~ "Master insisted on change of scenery, away from waterfront winds" (why do i head out on windy days of 39°F! yyyyy) super fun fact time! The orig State House has been a MUSEUM for longer than it has been a GOVERNMENT BUILDING. And that's with having housed diff governments on 3 separate occasions! model of building mid-18th century, thus lacking the figures (can also tell because tiny spiral staircase in tower!) ~ "an expensive velvet coat on display! Master babbled something about ghouls and Charisma checks while on chems? Perhaps the cold winds gave her a brain fever after all..." (Fallout humor, sorrynotsorry) ~ "one final stop - Faneuil Hall. Master insisted on crossed-arms like the Adams statue" (am freezing.. slow-exposure is not meant to be used w/out a tripod on a windy plaza... send help) ~ "In the Great Hall on the second floor! Council Chamber could fit in here 4 times over with room to spare" (fun activity: ask Anna about that time she was here for an official event & fell asleep) ~ "stop for dinner & to freshen up" (apparently spent 70bucks being a tourist... and a fiver on 'liquid diet' all day) This has been another exciting adventure, with your gracious host, Her Grace, King of Knights, Arturia! if anyone ever visits and wants to do some FreedomTrail exploring... (now with 30% more Fallout humor) Edited December 6, 2023 by Anna-neko
K-2 Posted December 6, 2016 Arturia looks great in her waistcoat and breeches! She needs a tricorn to finish the look. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Black-Mini-Pirate-Buccaneer-Hat-Halloween-Costumes/35649845

K-2 Posted December 6, 2016 YES!!! I thought giftshop teddybears might have an appropriate hat, but their heads are too big I bought one of these for one of my DD sized dolls. It's a little large (scale wise) but it fits well. http://www.madhvinyl.com/adventures/166-186/170.html

Anna-neko Posted December 7, 2016 Awesome photo set (Love the Fallout refs!). Thank you!! and as for Fallout.... When the game came out for a few months... I was outright insufferable w/ the Fallout refs!
Ie-Aster Posted December 7, 2016 This is really cool, and Saber's outfit is 10/10 perfect. I love the first shot, it looks like she's saying "Yes, all these ships and this harbor belong to me, of course." At home: Mei (DDP Lucy custom), Aku (DDB Takane custom) En route: L. (DD Matoi)
sinclair Posted December 7, 2016 Awesome photo set (Love the Fallout refs!). Thank you!! and as for Fallout.... When the game came out for a few months... I was outright insufferable w/ the Fallout refs! I know how that goes. When I was a teen I went to DC for a week. Years later when FO3 came out I loved walking around seeing how it compared to my memory. Then when FONV came out I played it (Still need to go ahead and finish that one.). Then later I went to Vegas on my honeymoon. It was so cool walking around to see what I saw in the game in real life. I've got FO4, came free with my PS4, but I can't play those kinds of games without a mouse and keyboard so I never got past leaving the vault. Sorry for the hijack... It was so cool walking around to see what I saw in the game in real life. Sorry for the hijack... oooh, I can absolutely relate! went to DC for first time last year and ... ..ok.. _before_ got there was looking up Metro and whatnot and started catching myself thinking in "hmm.. raiders here". Fallout thoughts completely take over all brain activity and was literally cryin from laughing (and failing at life) so hard and then once was in DC for realz, ended up navigating on pure video game logic (never got lost! annoyed the hell outta person with me) .... reality may have tried to drown me for all the puppet shenanigans (after setting up the plush with Washington Monument.. it started raining super hard outta nowhere) ok, back to topic! We're here for glorious DD photos!
