Oh!! Mei looks great! She is just spot-on! And she looks so cute out there with Eevee too.

Snow really makes for some pretty photos too. I like how I can see their footprints in it!

I love your Mei so much, she's so perfect! Also that girl needs to get inside or get a jacket, she's gonna freeze her buns off (which ones, you can pick) >ヮ

Currently at home: Autumn (DD2 DDH-01), Sakura (MDD3 DDH-08), Haku (Mio Akiyama), Mashiro (Mashiro Mito), Kaito (Vocaloid KAITO)

Mei looks lovely in your photos! Eevee is perfect in comparison too--so cute and tiny! Mei's so strong, being out in the snow in just her regular clothes. xD Are those DD hands? The seamless look is really interesting. ^^

Ahh, thank you so much for your comments, everybody!

One of my favorite things about snow and sand is that you can make footprints for your dolls--it really seems to add a special verisimilitude. Though of course I also have to be sure to avoid stepping anywhere where my giant footsteps can show up in the photo >__<

Also that girl needs to get inside or get a jacket, she's gonna freeze her buns off (which ones, you can pick) >ヮ<

I really need to make her a winter coat xD I plan to make it following the design of the Unova region lady veteran's outfit--actually I would like to make her that entire outfit.

Unfortunately this means I will have to walk to the fabric store, an hour away, through the cold >__< well at least I already have a jacket for myself

Are those DD hands? The seamless look is really interesting. ^^

Yep! They don't really fit on the obitsu pegs, and I don't have the DD pegs, so the only way to make them fit is to have the base of the hand go over the wrist joint. It's somewhat annoying mobility wise, but I do like the seamlessness.

Here are a couple more pictures, the first one taken over Thanksgiving weekend, the last one a couple days ago with Mei borrowing Akuro's coat:

I will post some of her wearing Candy Pop Mini soon, but I need to edit them first. ^__^

Right??! I was surprised when I saw that you can fit the hand over the entire ball of the wrist joint. I thought the seamless look was cool when I tried the heart hands on my girl, but they kept falling out so I modded the Obitsu pegs on my 50cm by adding a thin layer of epoxy putty on the thickest part/ridge on the wrist peg so the DD hand can fit over it sorta normally. It's still a bit loose depending on the hand's rotation compared to the peg, but it works well enough. I probably could've gone a bit heavier on the epoxy.. xD;;;

Nice shots! I love Mei's pose in the first picture, and at least she has Akuro's coat for the second one! With her expression it does look like she's feeling the cold now. ^^

Eeep I'm looking forward to this!

Ahh, the falling out is pretty annoying, I have to say funnily enough, for Mei, it only seems to happen on her left hand, which has an unfortunate tendency to plummet into the snow...

That's neat that you were able to make it work with epoxy though! How difficult is it to cure the epoxy? I've always been somewhat cautious of using it because I'm concerned about incomplete polymerization and then having the reactive groups (the parts of the molecule that are supposed to react together and get a polymer) instead react with something else that comes in contact with the doll. I don't know how likely this is to actually happen, but I worry about it from a theoretical standpoint

Anyway, as promised, here's Candy Pop Mei!

Funny you mention the left hand, because the left hand of the heart hand set I got was also loose(or more loose) compared to the right hand! I don't have any other DD hands though yet so I don't know if that's just how they were molded or what.

The epoxy cured.. pretty normally? I've always used regular white apoxie sculpt, which cures after about a day or less. I think that as long as both parts of the epoxy are an equal amount and are mixed very well it should be fine. I've used epoxy putty directly on Obitsu soft vinyl before and I haven't noticed any ill effects on the vinyl because of the epoxy. I did notice that the epoxy itself(or at least the parts that didn't get painted) yellowed after a year or so, but I kind of expected that anyway. This wrist part mod is the first time I used the putty on hard abs plastic, but I don't see it causing any problems. It may be too early to call that though! One thing I just can't get right with epoxy putty mods is tinting the putty the exact colors I want, but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm using the wrong materials/methods. xD

Anyway, as promised, here's Candy Pop Mei!

Aaaaah, so cuteee! I love the third picture the most--both Mei and her donut are shining so radiantly! I like how you put all of the ribbon clips on one of her buns too. How was the fit? I had the DD sized Candy Pop on my AZO2 Obitsu 50cm with an I bust and while the shirt part fit the shoulders and bust well(though not as good as my DDdy or DDS L bust lol), the jumper was way too big in the waist area. The bottom of the dress reached her mid-calves, which looked really cute though! xD

Hmm, I wonder if they're sculpted on lasts (like shoe lasts) and the left last is a bit bigger.

Of course, that's a lot of extrapolation from two data points xD but it'll be interesting to see how Makomo's hands compare once they arrive.

Good to know about the epoxy, too!

Thanks! It actually fit beautifully. On the shoulders and bust, it looked like it was made for her. The waistline hits much higher than her actual waist, but it hits at the correct point for an empire-waist dress, so it still works. It's a bit loose there without the ribbon tied, but tying the ribbon solves that. It's not too short either IMO, but then I'm not really one to object to high hemlines

The candy pop fits her so well! That's good to know, I don't know much about obitsu sizing.

The pics of them together are sweet too.

Thank you both!

Today, in the middle of redoing Makomo's face up, my MSC ran out.

Taking advantage of Makomo being in incomplete pieces, Mei stole her lab coat.

She also put on the heels I'd bought last December from Volks USA. They were intended for when I eventually make Mei the Unova Lady Veteran outfit.

She looks, um.

2017_04_14_zpshkwu3uvl.jpg

She looks very good, I think.

(Unfortunately these are pretty hasty shots and I want to take better ones soon, so er sorry for the mistakes >__<)
