Haruka & Kanata Smart Dolls - 2017

Good point. Perhaps we can all send the same email and tell him that we're all sending it to show it's not just 1 person's opinion?

Well, if Danny does not directly read emails sent to the Smart Doll email address then multiple people sending the same email or very similar might get when of his employees to show it to him?

However, if we all send the 'exact' same email, whoever sees them might write it off as just one person sending from multiple email addresses (like spam). So maybe have a number of key lines the same and vary one or two in the email? Or maybe say that a group of people contributed to the writing of the email?

I think adding that its putting off both new and old buyers would also be impactful.

Seems like the new revamped sculpt for Kizuna is going to be used for Kanata:

I'm actually not surprised to see that. When I saw that sculpt, I was thinking that she could be used for Kanata.

I hadn't realized that sculpt was for Kizuna...? Is Danny re-issuing her on the new sculpt?

I was pretty sure I had seen a post that he revealed she was the revamped Kizuna, but I can't seem to be able to find it again Sorry about that!

I thought Kizuna was meant to look more tsundere, but I think it’s good that he’s giving her a whole new sculpt instead of just a new faceup.

It doesn't look like a unique sculpt though; it looks the same as Kanata and Trinity to me. In fact, what's the difference at all between Kanata and Trinity? Glasses? The faceups look identical which is kind of funny since Kanata's is claimed to be unique because of the glasses.

Don't quote me on this but I am pretty sure Trinity's face up has alot more red undertones. The base hues of her eyelashes is brown, her eyebrows are thicker, and her lips are incredibly red in comparison to Kanata.

 

I think it's natural to see similarities between the two sculpts since I am assuming Trinity was actually his beta test for Kanata.

 

Could it be? A character that finally is starting to look like her original art work???

Maybe so about the coloring; I can't tell from the pictures, but the expression and line work look identical to me, certainly to an extent of why do they both exist.

Oh I meant new as in ‘not her old Mirai sculpt’, I’m aware the sculpt itself isn’t new. It’s new for Kizuna, which makes more sense to me: if we consider Mirai, Kizuna and Chitose as the ‘main’ girls it makes sense that they should each have a different sculpt to each other, if not a unique one.

I think I just find it really disappointing that there are so many new dolls and they're all starting to just look alike to me. If you showed me a random picture of most of them, I wouldn't have a clue what the name was.

 

This sculpt that's being used for Kizuna and Kanata is kind of a double-edged sword. Among Smart Dolls it is unique, but it's far less of a blank canvas than any of the other sculpts. It's not one that you can hugely change with faceups, to the degree that any doll using it I think is going to be instantly recognizable as that same sculpt; it's kind of like Volks DDH-05 in that respect.

 

So you end up with a Kizuna and Kanata that just too obviously look like the same base doll, in my view.

The expression I will admit, looks identical to me too. And if he's going to be releasing Kanata I don't reeeally see the point in releasing Trinity if Kanata is going to look like... that.

 

At the end of the day a front line girl should be priority over a random lassie he made on the spot.

 

I moreso meant, hair style(though a wee bit long) and hair colour, glasses, general features. Obviously we know by now his character dolls don't look 100% like the artwork. But this compared to Haruka, I will accept as a character doll.

In terms of Kanata looking like Trinity, they are similar but there are subtle differences that distinguish them. IMO, I think they're different enough to both be released. Kanata is very pretty, but I still like Trinity's face more. Her eyelashes are way prettier and I'm a sucker for pretty eyelashes. Lol But it's really nice to get a doll that looks almost exactly like the character, aside from Chitose, I didn't think Mirai or Kizuna looked much like their OG art. Kizuna's revamp matches her much much better.

That’s been my complaint about almost all the sculpts. The one that was truly distinct from the others that had more versatility got discontinued

I like that his apparent reason for not doing pink hair is because he wants to appeal to other audiences (??? I guess???) but then in the comments on that second picture he says she has ORANGE hair. Not red, ORANGE.

 

Ah yes, orange hair. That's a naturally occurring human hair color.

 

I mean, I know natural red-hair is a little on the orange side, but that first one it matched that neon orange school outfit she was wearing.

Heh. Yeah as Torino was talking about a page or two ago, if the idea is that things that are "too anime" will scare off certain customers, pink hair seems pretty low on the list compared to mega-boobs and some other things.

 

And those crazy boots Haruka is wearing in this latest pic seem pretty anime to me.
