MDD Manor ( Xmas loot! )

Recommended Posts

baldylox

As some of you have seen, my MDD girls made out like bandits this year due to my Mom going nuts and buying Becca and I something we certainly didn't need but kinda-sorta wanted anyways.

Basically, I sent my Mom a link to this thing and told her right up front that we were NOT expecting to get this and the only reason I was sending her the link was just in case she wanted to go a bit nuts and buy us something totally random, silly and crazy. The last time I told my Mom something like that, I wound up with the KOSMOS gatling gun.... but since this was WAY more absurd AND expensive, I never thought we'd get it.

But behold! After all the Christmas presents had been opened over at my parents house on Xmas morning, we were told to turn around to see an enormous box behind the living room door. There was only one thing that could have been so large......

THIS:

Yup. An absolutely gigantic dollhouse made for 18 inch dolls, more specifically for the Target brand "Our Generation". Being that we buy a lot of the Target doll accessories for our DD and MDD girls, we thought this house would be a good fit with them..... and we were right. It's pretty much the perfect scale for them! Here's a head on view of the front side:

31769043542_e3501c169b_z.jpgDSC_0732 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

As you can see, it's got 3 stories and a balcony! There's tons of room for the girls and the setup even came with some basic furniture like a couch, table, night stand, chairs and a toilet. Yes, A TOILET.

So let's take a tour of what we've named "MDD Manor" so you can see what was included, what spaces there are and what we've added to make it more livable for our girls. First up we have the kitchen and entryway area:

All the back walls are decorated to give you some look of a fully lived in area. But we wanted the girls to be able to interact more so we added some things, I'll point them out in the following pics. Below, Kino is sitting in one of two chairs that came with the house. The table also came with it. Behind her is the stairwell and to the left is a stovetop and oven area.

We added some cute drinks and a bento for the girls, most of these are either keychains from various cons we've been to or were ReMint pieces.

This stove/cooking area was given to me by my good friend Salica! The scale is great for the MDDs and I think this was from either Walmart or Target or TRU to be used with their 18 inch girls. It has all sorts of cool stuff with it and you can store loads of food and utensils inside. Pressing a button on the front lights up a burner and makes cooking/sizzling noises too!

The fridge Nami is getting into is a very old metal toy I picked up at a flea market in Clayton GA. It was dirty and banged up so I got it for a song at $12. I fixed a few dents and cleaned it up and now it works great in the kitchen.

The insides of the doors are covered in stickers and there's shelves inside for placing food and drinks. I think this was made back in the late 50's or in the 60's. Either way it's pretty cool!

Just beyond the kitchen is the bathroom. As I said earlier it even came with a toilet! Uh oh, looks like it's in use so let's high tail it outta here before Hitomi sees us!

Back on the other end of the house is where the staircase going to the second floor is. This is the one thing that kind of bums me out about this house. They put the stairs directly in front of the door coming in! You can plainly see the door behind the stairs here. The door isn't usable.... it's not cut out at all. But it would have been nice to have the option to cut it out and install some hinges so it *could* be a working front door. Ah well, one little trivial thing doesn't hold up to the rest of the awesomeness that is this house.

Kaitlynn is heading upstairs to get her Tsum Tsums. Here you can see the top of her head as she comes up the stairs. This view is from outside the window at that end of the house.

This is the main living room area. The couch and TV setup came with the house. The couch is actually kind of nice but the TV will be changed out for something nicer in the future.

31076611664_19a6953ce4_z.jpgDSC_0743 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

This little table came with the house too and matches the couch. We put the flowers, seashell and Totoro on it for a more finished look.

Louise and Sumi are enjoying some comics while they snack on cookies.

31768895302_e26ac385db_z.jpgDSC_0745 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

Umi is watching "The Nutcracker" on TV. The little pad underneath her didn't come with the house, we added it. There are stickers of rugs on the floor tho so it's not so plain looking in there.

31800033941_4d729c99c7_z.jpgDSC_0746 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

On this end of the house is the other staircase that leads up to the third floor and balcony. Here we see Minako coming down with some snacks in hand.

31543335660_b2274e16e3_z.jpgDSC_0747 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

I had to take a few more shots of her because she looked so damn cute!

31800010261_f578e68117_z.jpgDSC_0748 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

Up here is the master bedroom area. You can see where we added a fun disco ball to the roof up to the left. I just screwed in a small hook to the support beam going across and hung it there. Also makes it easy to add a chandelier or anything else we might want to hang up there later.

31768850842_9e7a11cb90_z.jpgDSC_0749 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

And the bedroom. Bud and Kiririn are having some milk and cookies.

31799993801_3ae70e6e8d_z.jpgDSC_0750 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

This night stand was included and it matches the bed. We added the light ( from a Dollar Tree ) the Disney Princess alarm clock and the teddy bear.

31076516424_2079b85683_z.jpgDSC_0751 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

The bed fits the MDD girls just right but you can also fit a DD in there if you put them into a semi fetal position. It came with a small mattress pad and pillow but we added more pillows and some plushies to make it more girly. The tray on Kiririns lap came with the bowl of cookies and the milk and we got it from Target. I think it came with some other stuff too but I can't recall right now.

31768811542_ccd55a2d36_z.jpgDSC_0752 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

And out on the balcony we have Kikirin who s celebrating Taco Tuesday! She even put up a "Fiesta!" sign. Personally I think she looks like she's doing the Madonna bit from that one movie....

"Don't cry for meeee Argenteeeeee-NYAAAAA!" LOL

31543260240_4a3ea05fbe_z.jpgDSC_0753 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

Konami is helping celebrate Taco Tuesday by shaking her maraca.

31543250520_93b02b9b3d_z.jpgDSC_0755 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

All the fiesta themed stuff came from a kit from Walmart. It was $8 for all that plus this hilarious piñata! His tummy even opens so candy falls out!

31879250366_7f3cb3ed00_z.jpgDSC_0756 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

Here's another view into the bedroom from outside the window.

31916405225_ac5a0c763f_z.jpgDSC_0757 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

Speaking of outside, the outer walls are decorated to look like a real house. Only the back is blank but this is because this house is designed to be screwed into a wall for extra support so it won't fall on top of anyone.

31076411544_e804e70161_z.jpgDSC_0758 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

The first two floors do not have anything on the ceilings but the top one does. I guess it's because you can't really see the other two unless you lay down on your back and look up.

31107108223_e2724057bb_z.jpgDSC_0759 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

Here's another shot of the stairwell. You have to build this house as it comes flat packed like most Ikea things are. Putting the stairs together was definitely the hardest part of this. You had to have things aligned just right in order to screw them in properly. Overall it took less than 2 hours for Becca and I to build this..... that's from opening the box to completion. Not really bad for what you get. The instructions were decent and they gave you extra screws and such too.

31879203276_57db02d240_z.jpgDSC_0760 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

One last shot, the TV stand. It's very basic but just by adding a few little trinkets and some magazines, it makes it look much better. I plan to figure out how to put some type of *real* screen in place of the TV so I can have an actual picture up there for the girls to watch.

And that's all! I hope you enjoyed the pics and the tour! If you're interested in having one of these for your girls, go here to purchase online:

You furnished the MDD Manor really well with the additional furniture and accessories! Very impressive!

I think what I like most about the Manor is that the girls can use the stairs and the balcony, for much needed additional posing space.

And the girls really seem to like it! It can be their little refuge from the bigger girls.

Houseception!

That is one awesome flat for the little ladies. My wife is glad we don't have space for it, or any MDDs to put in it, so she doesn't feel bad for telling me no I can't get it.

Thank you very much! I agree that it fits them well and it gives them their own space away from the bigger girls. We plan to use it for photo stories and such too!

Thanks! So far, Lenny hasn't made any attempts to move into the new house. It's probably because there really isn't much room for him to lay down or walk into. As for the box this came in, we left it in the garage and cut it into pieces so it would fit into the trash can.

Very cool! The house within the house.

Hee hee yup!

Thank you! That's funny about the wife telling you no. Now I need to find a 1/3 scale version of this so you can show her and then give her the puppy dog eyes to get it.

Not me doing puppy dog eyes, my girls will do the pleading. You have until VolksUSA ships Anastasia, which will be my wife's doll. I'll have 3 by then, and her's will make 4, perfect to surround her and get her to agree to buy them a home.

Hinako reminded me of Manami, because of eblkitty's face ups, and maybe her head sculpt. Just wanted to leave this useless tidbit of my opinion.

And your hou- ah... manor, is absolutely cute! I love how natural they all are posed, and....

A very lovely toilet.

That is an amazing house for your MDDs! I can't believe how big it is! I would love something like that, but I wouldn't even begin to imagine trying to find a place to put it where everything would stay safe. Too many cats!

That's awesome though! Congrats on the amazing new MDD home.

Thanks so much! We weren't even sure where we would put it if we got it so once it was put together, we kind of HAD to find space for it. But after moving another display out of the computer room, we found it's home. I have a cat but he's too big to fit inside anywhere so no worries about him messing it up. I can see smaller cats having fun in there tho.

I can't wait to see this thing in person!!

Hee hee, in just a few weeks you will!

I think you mean Minako. She's the same head as Manami and is also her little sister. But she wasn't painted by Ebl, Littlebearries did Minakos face up. Manami got touched up by Ebl and every other girl Ebl has done for me stays in a similar style..... that's why so many of my 01 head girls look similar! It's because most of them are related and I wanted a good family resemblance.

And your hou- ah... manor, is absolutely cute! I love how natural they all are posed, and....A very lovely toilet.

Thank you! I appreciate the compliment on my posing of the girls. And thanks about the toilet.... it came with the house so we had to use it.

This house looks amazing! Perfect for MDD Size. Your dolls are so cute btw!

I wish someone would make a house for the bigger dolls, may take up a wall but i'm sure it would be worth it

It would be quite huge but well worth it I think! The main drawback besides size would be shipping weight and cost. This MDD Manor weighs over 70 pounds and cost a bunch to ship. A full sized DD version would probably be almost double that and be super expensive to ship. That's probably why they h aven't done one yet.

My friend Salica makes rooms for her DD and SmD sized girls and they are perfectly in scale for them. But they take up almost her entire basement and she can't have them set up as a house due to how large they are. She does amazing work on them and finds the best accessories to make the rooms look absolutely real and lived in by her dolls. Check out some of her posts in the Photo and Photo Story sections and you'll be amazed.

AGGHHHDSHhdaeigf!!!! Mr.Billy, I meant Minako.

Why do I always get names wrong?

Ehh, I'll just stop beating myself up for a name.

I will say, I didn't know that it came from littlebearries, and I assumed (There I go again with assumptions, dammit.) that it must've been by ebl, since you do get almost all girls painted there.

So yeah, It was pretty late-ish for me, that might explain my many mistakes.
