New DD fan (but seasoned doll collector)--so glad to be here

Hi everyone!

 

I'm thrilled to have come across this board--you guys are awesome! I'm a new DD colllector (well, new to large vinyl in general--I've recently also added some large Azone/obitsu girls to my collection as well, and I have an Angel Philia on order, and I covet a Smart Doll as well), though I've been collecting resin BJDs (including Volks) for many years. A friend of mine added a few adorable DDS girls to her collection--and after seeing how well they pose and stand, I was smitten!

 

I'm so glad to see this board, dedicated to Dollfie Dreams, and I look forward to reading all about tips, techniques and what you collectors like best about these dolls. I've been surprised at the price range on some of the dolls--why some are so high and some are very low--and it's been a little confusing.

 

A little about me... I'm in the San Diego area of Southern California, and am the author of several doll related books, and the editor of the Fashion Doll Review blog. Currently, I'm the US sales rep for CODENOiR, a designer of unique clothing, shoes and wigs for BJDs, including Dollfie Dreams. As such, I get to travel to bjd conventions, which is very fun! I hope to be hosting some doll parties this year as well. I'm the mother of four kids, ages eleven through seventeen, and my thirteen year old still loves dolls.

I'm new to vinyl too! Just created my account today, and everything is SO confusing, but I know I was that way when I first started with resin (9 or so months ago). Either way I'm still a total newbie!

 

I've heard lots of good things about DD's and I am smitten with their faces myself, Haven't gotten to see their poseability first hand though.

 

Cool stuff that you get to work in a doll related field, it seems! Neat too that you rep CODENOiR they have GORGEOUS clothes, like, wow. And what fun getting to travel to those doll shows to see ALL the DOLLS *Swoon*.

Yeah, market prices for DDs can be really crazy. It comes down to the limited releases (standard sculpts and preorders go for less generally) and which one end up highly sought after.
