Snow Miku 2017 - Twinkle Snow (First post updated with info)

This is the knockoff wig I was thinking of, if anyone else is joining Torino and I in wanting this out fit for a regular Miku. Definitely cheaper than tracking down an actual Snow Miku wig.

I do like the original snow Miku 2017 outfit;

 

Hopefully they will release the outfit only... doubt they will release a whole new doll (again)

It better have the shoes, rabbit, garter, bloomers, and gloves too. And the neck ribbon long in the back like a scarf.

The issue is that they can't really put the starry sky design inside the sleeves and dress or it's a staining disaster waiting to happen. It's one of the most striking parts of the look though, so I wonder if there's a way around it.

I've highly interested in that wig (and others) but don't have the funds right now, but when you order yours please post photos/reviews as I want to see the quality. If you give it a thumbs-up, I'll do an order later.

Volks has recently started using dye-sublimation That looks like it could be polyester too.

I'd hate to be the bearer of bad news, but those socks actually stained my Len's legs pretty badly even through a body stocking. :/ Dunno if I just got bad ones, but it didn't make me too hopeful about it.

(Not that I'm blaming you for this as you recommended them since I was going to buy them anyway, I was just kinda miffed about it. At least the character my Len is now wears long pants most of the time)

Kirika's green clothing doesn't stain tho and I got this outfit on my DDIII body for about 4 months and zero stains;

That's weird, Sakuya's been wearing them for two months and there's not a hint of staining, even on the soles of her feet :/

I wonder if some of the items get exposed to wayward dyes. I had Miku in a Volks Miku bodysuit. It was unopened and I put it on her before putting on the Snow Miku winter coat set as I didn't want her to stain because I couldn't wash the outfit. She had no stains when I put the bodysuit on, but after I took the winter coat set off, she now has stains on her heels and toes and dots on her legs. Her hands in the mittens (Which I did pre-wash.)had no stains. Guess I need to pre-wash the body stockings too.

Wow, seriously? Now I'm freaking out over my Miku's bodysuit. Though her head is already stained due to a hat that went through her wig and a wig cap. ><

I have had some outfits stain through a body suit during really hot temperatures. And on cold temperatures the same outfit didn't stain the body suit or the doll at all.

The thing is fabrics dyed using sublimation shouldn't have excess dye, the insides of the socks should be white.

Well not dye, my bad. Ink, since that's how they would print the pattern onto the fabric.

 

Ink can still bleed through. If heated enough.

With dye sublimation the dye is permanently bonded to the polyester, and it's applied by heating the ink into a gas at over 180° C. I don't think Torino's lying (duh), but I do wonder what happened to those socks (unless Volks had some that weren't printed using dye sublimation?). The Wikipedia entry that talks about its use in textiles explains it pretty well.

It doesn't hurt to ask? I am not sure if Volks would respond about it though.

They will probably end up giving the same answer of "you can't 100% protect your vinyl doll".

As for me, it's never over 70 F inside the house due to being winter, most times mid to lower 60's. Now if it was summer and lower 80's in the house, then maybe heat. And it's never humid, always dry.

This talk of staining through the body suit is making me nervous. I live in Florida which is almost always warm and high humidity. I have Miku, Rin, and Len at home. Think I will take their body suits off when I get home and check all of them. I have not washed their licensed outfits because I am nervous about them getting ruined.

 

Am really excited about the new Snow miku outfit. I have a Snow Miku but get the clothes of both versions of Miku.

I had zero stains with my 1st Miku bodysuit. It got stained, but Miku's skin was still nice and clean. Then I took it off and got used to her not being in a suit, and then she got stained. I got new parts and dressed her in clothes that didn't stain, then put the body suit on for an outfit that might stain. As I was told when I got my 1st stain, it's a sign that you love and play with your dolls.

It's still less than the ribbon girl set - I expected it to be pricey at least. Looks like the preorder will start during the snow festival but can also be done online so I take it it's not a clickwar?
