Snow Miku 2017 - Twinkle Snow (First post updated with info)

I was really confused what you meant because this outfit isn't meant to ship till summer but then realised you meant Snow Miku herself. It's the Twinkle Snow outfit I ordered, not the Snow Miku doll. I've considered sitting Snow Miku as she's got a real cute face but it's hard to justify it when I already have Miku and there are other dolls I want more - I was just gonna get a Snow Miku-ish wig for my regular Miku to wear with this set.

I have no idea about volksUSA but the international/JP site had the TS outfit for preorder, that preorder petiod is now closed so it's no longer possible to get it unless second hand.

I think this is the 3rd time Snow Miku has shown up on Volks USA's site, but 2nd official release.

 

I also ordered the twinkle outfit, way too kawaii to pass up. Already having Miku, I passed on Snow Miku and just got her outfit and wig 2nd hand for my Miku to wear. I was able to get everything but her hair clips (Which I'm still looking for if anyone wants to sell me a set.). And she looks great in the blue wig even with her greenish eyes. If I really think she needs blue eyes, the twinkle set comes with a pair, but I really like her greenish eyes. The Miku head is just so adorable that she looks good in anything really.

regardless - I actually got the outfit too.

Though I got that through OtakuMode, so mine will probably be arriving later than everyone elses.

I wasn't a fan of the huge price tag, but when I saw it on TOM, I decided to get it since I had wracked up enough store credit to get it for just over $100 out of pocket

with all due respect, I 'got the idea' that this thread was for -mainly- for Twinkle Snow because... I made this thread. I called it 'Snow Miku 2017' first because Volks announced they were doing something for Snow Miku 2017 and I thought it could be something big cos they were hyping it up a lot. Turned out it was - it was the Twinkle Snow outfit, and thats why I changed the thread title to reflect that. Snow Miku 2017 (AKA Twinkle Snow) is a different Snow Miku to the the original Snow Miku doll (who is based on Snow Miku 2011)

 

I dont know if there was an actual news thread for that Snow Miku though, it didnt occur to me that people would talk about the original Snow Miku doll here cos like I said she isn't new, so apologies for any confusion (although I do find it kinda weird that you'd try to tell me what my own thread is about Regardless I hope you enjoy your snow miku, its just that its kind of confusing when you start talking about 'who else ordered' and ''mine shipped'' when everyone else is talking about an outfit that wont be out for months.

 

(Granted I think its fine to talk about Snow Miku the Doll here too considering her rerelease, but its best to point out that it's what you're referring to first! I'm not trying to police stuff, just trying to avoid confusion. I mostly just wanted to point out that the reason I was confused was because I originally didnt intend this thread to be about the snow miku doll, not say that you cant talk about her at all.)

You weren't the only one confused. I was wondering how they were getting Twinkle before it was released.

...thought about it afterwards though it is because they have to be consistent with GSC with the Figma and Nendoroid release ;w; but nevertheless!!!! still adorable. hoping for someone to have non-prototype pictures of it soon~

Owners even in Japan aren't getting it till summer. Anyone who ordered from VolksUSA might not get it till fall, depending on how many were ordered and how sluggish shipping decides to be.

Yes lol I was worried it'd come out while I was overseas but still nothing. I don't mind too much since it's a wintery outfit but I think the underdress part on its own would be cute as a summer dress and I wanted my Miku to wear it to Magical Mirai next month.

I actually forgot about this one, been busy sending thought waves to Volks (hoping) that the next Miku outfit is a preorder as well.

Very convenient - I'll actually be in the city on that day for work reasons so I can swing by Volks to pick it up before I go home. I can't wait to see it on my Miku...although I'm gonna wait till she gets a snow Miku wig to put the whole thing on. I'm weirdly more excited about the shoes than anything else.

Volks USA send me an email that they would not be shipping until September, so I am sure her email was from Volks.jp. . . .

I got mine yesterday. I haven't tried on the whole outfit - somehow seems wrong to do it in when its summer here, but I also don't have a snow miku wig.

I could never see them clearly enough in the official pics but the eyes have little stars/twinkles in them, which is cute. I also had no idea how the heck her earrings would go in, but it comes with two small pins, so I assume you have to stab her in the ears. Not sure if I will yet. I -still- have no idea how she's meant to hold the wand but it might attach to the gloves? I haven't opened those so not sure.

 

Anyway, the outfit, especially the dark parts, are not the material I expected. I don't know a lot about material so I'd like anyone to tell me if they know what its called, but its somewhat...rough? I'm hoping it is something less likely to stain, because, obviously, its not lined - the whole point is the night sky effect from the inside, after all. But I'm very cautious of it, and would probably only use it for a few photo shoots.

 

Anyway, I'd appreciate a better review from someone who is actually going to put it on their Miku right now as opposed to later, because I just wanted to put her in the underdress and shoes as a cute summer outfit. So I'll at least talk about that because it's kind of disappointing.

Don't get me wrong, it -looks- really cute, but the underdress has these ugly clear plastic straps to hold it up. I have no idea why because Volks have made strapless outfits before and this is intended to be tailored to Miku. I think the straps look bad, so I tucked them inside the outfit for these pictures...and the dress barely stays up.

Ironically, it would be held up if she had bigger boobs...even though the dress is advertised as being for S/SS only. I'll try it on Brisbane's L bust later but I'm willing to bet that an M bust would hold it up without needing the straps.

I mean true, you aren't supposed to wear it like this so it's not supposed to matter as those straps would be hidden by the rest of the outfit that goes on top. But it's still kinda disappointing to me. It really is oddly roomy in the chest for something made for Miku.

 

But my main complaint is actually that hairclip! I really liked the hairclip and thought it'd be nice to use it for everyday wear as well. The problem is its really crappily made. A hairclip should have 'teeth' to hold it to the hair - Kagamine Rin's white hairclips have teeth and they hold in her hair quite well. This one...doesn't. It's completely smooth, and so it slides straight off the hair very easily. I'd be very, VERY worried about losing this, so I guess she isn't wearing it to Magical Mirai. I'm honestly stumped why they thought that was a good idea. It's such a cute clip too, arrghh. I'm wondering if I could put some superglue inside it to make the 'teeth' myself to give it better grip.

Yukine is very cute, and Miku is very happy about him (her?)

 

I'm kinda scared of those ribbons and the stain potential, especially in summer, so I'll wait for any reports on that before I put the whole outfit on her for winter.

If anyone gets this and wants to part with Yukine lemme know!!

I got mine in the mail yesterday - it's super cute but will definitely need some tape inside to prevent staining on the choker and the ribbons on the shoes.

 

I'm pleased with the fabric that has the constellation design printed on it. The eyes are very subtle but I'm glad to have another pair to use with another doll

I finally got a shipping notice and tracking number from Volks USA today. Hopefully I can receive mine tomorrow.

Seeing those awesome pictures is making this wait very hard. My outfit was supposed to arrive on Wednesday. . . all USPS says right now is "delayed".

I had the full outfit on my Rin for about 8 days and it didn't stain her (not even the ribbons), so it shouldn't be one of those cases where the outfit stains the doll immediately, at least.

 

It took about two months before my Rin's default outfit stained her (there are red marks on her thighs and a blue spot on her collarbone), so perhaps once winter comes and we have snow, I'll have her in the Twinkle Snow outfit for a longer period of time to do some further testing. Curiously my Len wore his default set for as long as Rin did and he's completely stain free. But his shorts are lined with white, so that's probably what makes the difference around the thigh area at least.

I helped a friend order and the set arrived yesterday. It's super cute! If anyone wants to part with the plush bunny let me know.

Finally got around to get Miku dressed in hers.

Due to how the hair ribbons work, I was able to put it on the Ribbon Girl wig.

 

 

And it looks really cute in it. The Ribbon Girl wig is one of my favorite for style, but my least favorite for using. It's super loose and it's coming apart. It will not last as long as Miku does. But I'll love it while I still can. But back on topic, I love this outfit. The bloomers are so kawaii!! And the base dress makes a great summer dress on it's own. The star hair clip is just a small bit that won't stay in her hair well, and feels like it'll break easy. But overall a great outfit.

And yes, Keiko adoped the bunny, and Yaya is pouting, while Yumi is loving her new donut floaty Mommy found.
