archeotech Posted January 10, 2017 Hi Just curious but does anybody know what the difference is between the new treatment mist and wig oil? O.o Is it just a rebrand but then they still sell wig oil and make it seem like a different thing even though they seem to do the same thing.... I wish volks would explain more in the description for the items.
Cauldroness Posted January 12, 2017 My understanding is that the "Wig Mist" is more like hair spray (to help keep a style), "Oil Mist" is an anti-static treatment, and "Treatment Mist" is more of a detangler/defrizzer. archeotech Posted January 12, 2017 Yeah wig mist is a kind of hair spray but don't use it very often except maybe a little bit on my fingers. Oil is used for anti-frizz and anti static as far as I know so just purplexed on treatment mist or is it as you said better at anti-frizz than oil but not as good with anti-static....? Cauldroness Posted January 12, 2017 I suspect they're similar, but one may be oil-based or wax-based (notice the warning to treat the wig when it's NOT on the doll, plus there's no caution about using it on mohair wigs) and one is silicone-based (no warning about spraying while on doll, but says do not use on mohair wigs). I don't use either, but from using off-brand products, my silicone sprays have been very good at making hair "slippery" (good for preventing and/or treating tangles), but aren't so great at repelling dust or preventing static. They seem better for straight or wavy styles since silicone often adds some "weight" to the wig, which can make curls "droopy." So my guess is that's what the Treatment Mist is? Yukamina Posted January 12, 2017 Anyone know how the water wax and the wig mist compare for styling hair? My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt
Cauldroness Posted January 13, 2017 Water wax is more like hair styling wax/gel/mousse. Wig mist is more like hairspray. Which one is "better" depends on what you're trying to do. If you're using curlers, for example, you want wig mist and not water wax. If you want to fix some fly-aways, wig wax is probably the better choice. I use water wax all the time and I LOVE it. foo Posted January 15, 2017 The Treatment Mist is their snazzy new product that they introduced last year. I don't think many people have tried it yet, but I assume it's better than using wig oil (it is snazzy & new after all).
