Fixing loose DY hips and de-staining peach pai

Recommended Posts

Like the title says, problem number one. Aria, my only Dynamite girl has hips that are so loose that she struggles to sit up and her legs fall off. I let my dad try thickening the pegs with some tape since he's the resident handyman (Even if he does like to think I have no clue what I'm talking about on anything in my own freaking hobby) so I let him work with her. I told him to take his black jacket off while handling her so he didn't stain her, and I mentioned that her Peach Pai was especially susceptible to this. He blew me off, saying that the jacket had been washed a bunch and never stained anything anyways. I told him that this is much more easily stained than the things he works with and some fabrics will always stain, but he didn't listen. I let him handle her and now she has a stain on her shoulder right on the Pai. What did I tell him?

Long story short is there anything I can do to thicken her hip pegs since the stuff he tried didn't work at all, and is there a way to remove stains from Peach Pai? The stuff is so fragile that I'm scared to do anything without guidance. I know anything wet will make it sticky which will lead to tearing if it's rubbed in that state.

I'm not looking forward to having to potentially shell out another few hundred bucks for a new bust just because my dad wouldn't take my warning seriously. I told him if I can't fix this he's paying for a replacement (Entirely possible, he earns a hell of a lot more than I do) and he seemed to agree, but he goes back on his word often enough that I won't hold my breath for that.

Rant over.

First issue, the pegs. If the tape didn't work ( which it usually only does for a short time due to it falling apart or getting crunched up when the legs move ) the best thing is to use Super Glue or epoxy to slowly build up the pegs cirbleepference so that the holes in the legs will have traction again. To do this, take the legs off and then get a small paintbrush of some type to help evenly apply the Superglue or epoxy onto the pegs. Make sure you let each layer of glue/epoxy dry before you add another and make sure it's as evenly applied to the pegs as possible. After you get one or two layers onto the pegs, test fit the legs to make sure they're tight but not too tight since you'll want them to go on, stay on and be able to still move around.

As for the stained pai, that's relatively easy to take care of too. First, I'd try to soak them in cornstarch. Take the pai off the frame and then put them into a Ziploc bag. Dump a bunch of cornstarch into that bag, completely covering the pai. Then shake the bag up to get the cornstarch all over the pai, especially the stained area. You can even rub it in on that spot to make sure it's covered well. Then let them sit in that bag for a week. After that, pull them out, wash them off in warm water and check the stain. If the stain has lightened but not gone then redo the process. If nothing has changed then it's on to the next thing.

And that thing is to take a Q-Tip and dip it into some 70% Isopropyl alcohol. Rub the alcohol onto the stained area and swab it in circles. Sometimes the stain goes away immediately, sometimes not. If it goes away, immediately wash the pai with warm soapy water and then cover them in cornstarch and wipe it off as you normally would when cleaning them. If the stain doesn't go away then add cornstarch to the stain, wipe it off and then reapply the alcohol again. I would suggest only doing this 3 times per day so as not to do any damage to the silicone pai.

I've used both these ways to clean stains off my girls pai and both have worked well with no damage to them. Just be careful and take your time when doing either. It takes time and patience but is well worth it.

I hope this helps you out. Do let us know how things go!

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Thanks! I'll have to buy the glue and cornstarch next time I go out. I hope it works.
