K-2 Posted January 23, 2017 Hello there! I bought a 40cm Obitsu boy and I'm kinda worried that his neck is too long... His head is already big enough.. The proportion of his neck could be smaller... That's one of those aesthetics things. To you it looks too long, to Parabox it looks fine. I thought the Obitsu 65cm male's neck was too long and trimmed it down 1cm. If it really bothers you, even with a wig and clothes on (finishing a doll out can really impact the final look), you can easily shorten his neck. All you would need to do is: 1) Remove the head from the neck piece, 2) Remove the neck piece from the body, 3) Trim the neck vinyl down, 4) Trim the bottom of the neck piece tube the same amount you trimmed the neck vinyl and finally, 5) Reassemble. Trimming the neck vinyl will be the trickiest part in that you probably won't be able to tell how much to trim the neck till it's done (or you've gone too far). So start with trimming maybe 2mm off the top of the neck. Set the head on top of the neck (without mounting the neck piece) and see how it looks. If it looks okay, you're ready for step 4, if not try another small amount and look again. Repeat the process till you're happy with the length. There's not a lot of neck there so it shouldn't take more than one or two trimmings. Some of the finer points of the operation will be getting a nice even cut. By even I mean cutting the same amount in the front as in the back and sides. The actual cut line might wobble a bit but you want the amount removed to be fairly consistent. Marking the neck before cutting can help. You'll want a new, sharp hobby knife blade to get the best vinyl cut. Go slow as the vinyl can cut fast and unevenly if you're not careful. It doesn't have to be a perfect cosmetic cut. The head hides the top of the neck, but the smoother the better. Neck bends will be easier. The best tool for cutting the neck piece is a fine tooth hack saw blade, something around 18-24 teeth per inch. You won't need the whole saw, just a blade. You aren't cutting anything really tough like a metal pipe, so the blade doesn't need to be supported. Just wrap some tape around one end of the blade to make a handle. Mind which direction the blade is intended to cut. Once the neck piece is cut, smooth the cut with some sandpaper, about 120 grit, to remove burrs.

Noxxbunny Posted January 24, 2017 If it helps at all for you one day, it's a very easy mod that took me less than 10 minutes to do on my Parabox 45cm boy. I plan on doing it to my 40cm boy as well, because I agree that it's a bit long. I was 10 times happier after the mod. And if I somehow messed it up...I was willing to buy a new neck piece and torso piece. Hopefully you can get used to the neck length though if you really don't want to go for it. I just couldn't. But I am totally a modder, so shortening didn't bug me. Good luck with your new boy. samseramsamsam Posted May 7, 2017 To shorten the neck piece itself, some kind of power tool will be needed, right? (for the vinyl, scissors will be enough) What did you guys use for the harder plastic? Or is it also possible to just saw it down with a kitchen knife? Or is it also possible to just saw it down with a kitchen knife? Here's a tutorial on shortening the Obitsu 65cm's neck. The procedures are the same for the other Obitsu models with the exception of the amount taken off. You will have to determine that on a case by case basis. Just remember what ever you remove in vinyl from the neck, remove the same amount from the bottom of the neck piece. No power tools required. http://www.dolliehsanctuary.com/sanctuary/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=8483#p100219

Honestly, I used a hacksaw I got from the dollar store You get what you pay for, so you'll need a new one after two neck shortenings because the blade will be too dull after, but worked fine for the only two times I needed it.
