Usaii Posted November 23, 2011 I was just wondering in general how often DD owners take their girls out. As well as to where. Do you take them out to public places daily such as the market or like possibly school, the library, the park and such? And for the times you do take them out, what kind of responses/reactions in general do you get from people in public? Did you have positive/negative experiences when taking them out/photoshooting/etc? Does it affect you're desire to take them out? I was reading about a similar idea/question on DoA, but I was wondering specifically how people react to DD's and not resin dolls since they are different in some ways. I would assume people would react differently to DD's than to resin's. Don't know if it'd be more positive or negative. I also noticed how resin doll owners tend to take them out more to say the supermarket and other daily adventures as DD owners usually just take them out for photoshoots? I haven't taken mine out much to public other than two meets because I haven't had them too long so I wouldn't know. I personally am a bit afraid of taking them somewhere super public to be asked questions and weird looks as I am shy. x__x;; Thought I'd ask before I officially take them out to public at a park for mental preparation of what's to come at a future meet this week. (Also I'm so sorry if these questions has been asked before. I looked but it didn't seem like there was.)
Tensei Posted November 23, 2011 I haven't taken my resin or my vinyl anywhere yet. That's mainly since I don't go anywhere to begin with. Tokyo is so boring--- 天青 Join us in #DollfieDream!~
Jezatron Posted November 23, 2011 I only really take my girls out when I'm either going to a meet, or if I'm just meeting up with another DD owner. At a meet I rarely feel bothered by people's attention or questions, there are always a lot of us together, which gives a feeling of safety in numbers. Most people that come over tend be fascinated (or have children), I haven't had anyone come over just to express displeasure. When I just meet up with a couple of DD owners for a meal, we often have our girls sitting at the table with us, and though I do sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable getting them out in a more public place, as soon as they are on the table I forget it XD Again, I've not really experience much beyond positive responses, people might stare a little bit, but so far only people with good things to say have come over and spoken to me. I don't think I would feel that comfortable taking my girls out on my own, I don't really like getting stared at or asked too many questions, and here in the UK it is pretty unusual for a guy to be interested in dolls (well that's the impression I get) so I think I would get plenty of weird looks. I have taken Yoko with me on long train journeys, and had her out for company, but I do tend to travel quite late, so the carriage was pretty empty. If I had found a good location for a photo shoot I would consider taking one of my girls there, but I guess I would only pick quiet locations to do a photo shoot. Waynio Posted November 23, 2011 Well i haven't had the chance to take Aoi-chan out for a shoot, But since I drive a truck for a living, Aoi-chan comes with me everywhere i go. During the day I usually set her up in the passenger seat while i drive. I haven't had anyone really ask about her as to really not having the chance to get her out and about other than being in the truck. My Dad works with me so hes really the only one who see's her on a regular basis, but he doesn't have anything negative to say. Wayne

Strife212 Posted November 23, 2011 I actually took Saber Alter on Holiday with me once, here are the photos: http://myfigurecollection.net/blog/1224 I had her in the shipping box she came in in the back of the car (not the dollfie box, the actual shipping box) with some blankets and bubble wrap. Had quite a few people mention it, some were asking me if I was doing photography for advertising That's the only time I've taken one out surprisingly, I've never done any outdoor DD shots locally. Dolls: Saber, Saber Alter, Saber Lily, Saber Extra, Saber Alter 2nd, Aozaki Aoko, Alice Kuonji, Haruhi Suzumiya, Yuki Nagato
baldylox Posted November 24, 2011 I've taken my girls all over the place! When it was just Manami and I, we went to all sorts of parks and stuff taking pics. When I got Yoko and Rei, we still went out to parks and things with just me and them. Then I found a DoA group locally and joined up with them. So I had help with stuff and also I was the only guy in the group so they enjoyed seeing me and my DD's out and about. The most crazy thing I've done was take 5 girls out at one time with no help, just me. i took them to a local park about 30 minutes drive from my house. I went on a Sunday when I knew not too many people would be around. I got there early and had the place to myself for about 2 hours. Then I started seeing random people around but no one came up to me. When I went over to the large water fountain area tho, more people were around and a few stopped by to see what I was doing. One couple was very nice to me and asked all about the girls. Another family came by when their daughter bounced over and said "You have pretty Barbies Mister!" My first reaction in my head was to tell her these werent stupid Barbies but I held back and smiled at her while saying thank you. Her parents only waved and kept walking. So I have yet to have anyone give me crap about having the girls out anywhere. But this may be attributed to my looks too. I know if I was seeing a guy almost 6 feet tall with a shaved head and ghoatee setting up dolls for pictures, I wouldnt go telling him he was a freak. So I'm lucky that way I guess. MaxArcher Posted November 25, 2011 The only situation where I'm cool taking them out of the house is to a convention, unless I'm with a large group in a relatively quiet location. DD Beatrice - DD Saber/EXTRA
LordNoir Posted November 25, 2011 XD My girls go with me all kinds of places! Ichiko's gone with me to a restaurant and halloween shopping http://www.dollfiedreams.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1164 Ichiko has also gone with me to Barnes and Noble viewtopic.php?f=31&t=633&start=230 I also take my girls to the library for doll meets and our local creativity salon discussion( How can I not? most of the things I make, I make for them! XD) Some of my girls also get to go to Hobby Lobby/Hancock's Fabrics/Jo Ann's with me so I can check the scale of patterns and charms to them. ^^ Most of the people at the craft stores just think they're adorable. I even have a couple of the gals who work there who seem to look forward to my girls showing up with me. I've been planning to take the girls along to an anime convention next weekend as well, so I'll try to get some pictures of it. AlmySidaKay Posted November 25, 2011 I've been taking my resin girls with me almost anywhere I can get away with it, and hopefully Miku will be here soon so that I can take her with me as well! I especially love taking any of my girls to the park, figures Miku will be arriving in the dead of winter. >.<; A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. I guess we all think that of our cities at some point in time. Yep, I know that for a fact. I live in Charleston, SC and every time I get visitors in town and show them around, they're all "It must be so nice to live here! It's great here!" I'm always like "I've lived here my whole life... meh. It's ok." Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
