username origin?

I wanted the username easily recognisable and short. 
First letter is from my first name, second letter is from my second name and the third letter is from my third name. 
Adding the k and e to it formed my username.

I didn't want to use any of my other user names that I have used in the past on places like AOL chat, gaming forums etc. I was having a hard time picking a new one to use here so I turned to Chito, my smart doll elf for some sage advice. She never calls me by name, I'm just a lowly human. In a couple of the stories I have done with her, she can be seen calling me 'Hoomun'

So upon asking her to help, her reply was, 'I don't have time for such trivial matters, stupid hoomun'

Lamia’s are one of my favorite Mythological creatures, and Nymph was the name of a childhood OC of mine. So I just kinda combined them. 

Mine is merely a childhood nickname my father came up for me when I was very little. I’ve been using it online and as a badge name at anime cons, too. Last year I was mystified when “meef” was rejected as a badge name for being inappropriate. I asked what on earth was wrong with it but they wouldn’t explain. I really hope my beloved nickname isn’t actually offensive and I’ve been parading around oblivious all this time. 😧

I googled "meef," and yeah, it could be seen as inappropriate.  Granted, I had to scroll down to the bottom of the first google page to find what it means, but...yeah.  🤷‍♂️  TIL.... 

My name came from my favorite anime character (Sakuma Ryuichi) who was in my favorite anime (Gravitation) back in the day.

I mean, I really had to search to find it, and it just seems like a stupid and childish Urban Dictionary definition that some dumb 14 year old boy wrote up to be edgy. Most people who are not terminally online probably don’t know or care that someone somewhere came up with a random new word. The person at the con who rejected it is probably just a coomer with brain rot from too much porn, so don’t feel too bad about it.

I changed my name on here at some point, but this name has a much more personal feel. It can be taken one of two ways (ha, well three since someone asked me if I was 85 years old).

 

I've followed vashperado for a few years now after seeing this image of an anime girl wearing a tshirt numbered '88'. At the time, she didn't have much of a story and was just a picture or two. He gradually drew more pictures of her, each adding a bit of element to a potential story. He has since release a comic series on her. I won't spoil it for anyone just in case someone becomes interested, but I feel a lot of isolation and loneliness 88 exhibits. Kindred spirits? Plus, she is a gamer, and I've been gaming ever since I could wield an Intellivision controller 😄

Mine has a long history. It might look exotic but it's just the Chinese name for giant Pandas (大熊猫).

Although I'm from the UK I have quite a long connection with Asia. I vacationed in Hong Kong in 2006 as I felt it was a good dry run for my dream of visiting Japan. I'm not too sure if that was a successful dry run or not, but I did indeed visit Japan in 2007 (and again in 2008 and twice in 2010).

Asia went on hiatus for a bit while I caught up on anime watching, but in 2013 I quit my job and went to live in China for a while. That was intense, as China was gigantically fun at that time until a certain person decided to turn it into a much more authoritarian state. But ultimately it was the craziness of Guangzhou that made me take a quick vacation in Thailand... which turned into a 6 month stay.

I returned to China in 2017 and taught English and IT there for 2.5 years. Although very introverted I do love performing and teaching was gigantic fun. A certain happening in Wuhan wrecked that career*. I did try teaching back in the UK but teaching here is a ghastly profession.

Two strange things that happened to me in China: I almost thought I was going to die on the toilet (due to an earthquake), and I lived next door to a murderer.

I like to think I've done enough in my life to date to fill several lifetimes. If I were to write my autobiography nobody would really believe it.

My dream is to go and teach in Japan, but I just have too many worldly goods now and I could never decide who to take with me and who would go into storage.

*Ironically Wuhan was the first place I visited in China. And I also have a PhD in viruses. Hence the autobiography thing.

Oh WOW!  I just realized that I never said where my name came from!

Back in the day, I was in a Gravitation RP (Role Play) group, playing my favorite character from the anime/manga.  When I joined Den of Angels and got my first BJD, I used it (and my favorite number) as my username.  So in December 2022 when I joined this forum, I decided to carry it over, so that those that know me from the BJD forum may recognize who I am. 😊

Back in the early/mid aughts I was a dedicated guerrilla gardener. I also regard it as personal motivation, as I can often live entirely in the abstract spaces of imagination. 

@Xiongmao Wow! We were both living in China at the same time (2017-). I was attending 中国美术学院(China Academy of Art) in Hangzhou. I travelled home for CNY to complete research, never to return. I was thankfully in my last year and able to defend my thesis online, but it was a shock (especially as the communications I was receiving were far ahead of any US media response).

Although perhaps not as fun as your initial foray due to political considerations, once I settled in I loved Hangzhou, and China. I hope I can visit again someday.

Oh that's a strange coincidence. I've just been editing a video I took when I was in Hangzhou a few years ago. It's going up on Youtube but don't get excited it's just something for train otaku.

My biggest regret is not having Towa with me in China. Then we would have hit those Taobao dolly boutiques bigtime.

Honestly I wanted something separate from my usual usernames and I thought this was cute so I went with it!

There is not really a deep meaning behind my username. Wanted to stay undercover because of a certain topic and a certain person maybe stalking the forum and banning people. One of my many OC's is called Sebastian, who is a ghost and tends to lurk in the shadows, much like how I lurk on this forum and I ended up picking Sebby as name. 
 

At some point I misspoke and probably now several people know who I am ahaha. So it doesn't really matter anymore but I don't feel like changing my name. I should really share more here ^^; 

Mine is a contraction of the words: doll (english) /dolor (spanish) / amore (italian)

I have my own reasons as to why but I liked how it sounds 😄
