Awkward photograph with Mei, who isn't too happy about this new rival arrival. It's interesting how different the two sculpts are. Lucy is much more minimal and DDH07 has more definition in the nose and mouth while still looking very anime. Ie-Aster Posted March 14, 2017 Thank you everyone for your comments! They really make my day, and Makomo is very touched as well. Though, she tends to get rather flustered since she's a bit shy. Her wig is from Volks, in the shade ChocoPurple. I have to say that when I first heard of this color, I was very surprised since I never thought of chocolate as being associated with purple. But it's a very beautiful shade in real life. It's a bit hard to photograph since it's quite dark, though. I finally straightened the wig; although I liked the waves, her character has straight hair, and I wanted the doll to resemble that. I also sewed her dress and made her hairpin yesterday. There's something wonderful when a custom doll first starts looking like the character they're supposed to be, and I felt that for the first time yesterday when I was taking these shots. I drafted the pattern for her coat today, and I'm excited to complete it so that her outfit will be finished. After that, I have to find good quality pink flats, and work a bit more on styling the wig, and she'll be finished! At home: Mei (DDP Lucy custom), Aku (DDB Takane custom) En route: L. It was rather annoying to make since it required a lot of hand-finishing (or, at any rate, it required hand-finishing for me to do it since I'm not that good at doing precision fine work on a sewing machine). But, I'm pleased with the results. The pockets are usable, but are a bit small for her hands. Here you can see the full length of the coat. Omake. The little doll is a Pure Neemo custom boy. It's not actually supposed to be but now that you mention it I can't unsee it x__x It's a diamond-shaped two-holed bead, which I used because it was the smallest bead that I had at the time. It's supposed to have a flat diamond shape on top, but it must have flipped onto the side, exposing the holes, while I was taking the pictures or styling her hair. If I ever make any sort of punk or gothic outfit with beadwork, actually, perhaps I could use one of these with some extra-tiny seed beads below it for the skull's teeth...
