Probably because studying of any form clashes with her sporty girl persona she wants to cultivate. Or maybe she wants everyone to think she's already good at English and never had to study

I wonder why... Maybe so they can came up with the new Ruri?

 

Ruri's not a standard model, though; she was supposed to be a limited. So unless they have some reason for wanting to release her and the standards at the same time, it's definitely unclear...

Ugh, I want Towa AND Karin. How dare Volks come out with such cute sculpts, ugh. Gonna have to stare long and hard at these photos. But not too long, Karin's wig burns my eyes. So neon. Can't wait for owner pics with more subtle colors on these girls. C:

Went and saw the dolls in person and sadly fell completely out of love with Towa. Her face was too round and chin too far forward. Maybe it was bad posing or lighting but she's no longer a must have for me.

Hopefully it's the lighting. I've seen SDC Renee twice now in person - once in the Harajuku store and once at May Dolpa, and let me tell you, I'm glad I saw her at Harajuku first because she looked really bad at Dolpa. They chose the most unflattering lighting possible and it put some really odd shadows on her face. She was also in a glass case and hard to really get too close to whereas she was in the open in Harajuku. If I hadn't seen her at Harajuku first I might not even have entered for her.

The good thing about these girls is there's no risk involved, we can all wait for owner pics as long as it takes, so that's what I'm doing with Liliru.

Lighting can really make or break the way a doll looks, I was shocked when bad lighting even made Kagamine Rin look bad, because imo she's the cutest sculpt Volks have ever released.

So fingers crossed that was the problem, cos it would be sad otherwise those who are anxious would be best to wait for owner pics though. The beauty of non-limited dolls ;w;

Towa looks like she's holding water in her mouth or something, and Liliru's upper lip is very pronounced. However, I've seen Arle in person and like the way she looks, whereas there are many photos where her pronounced upper lip looks really bad to me, so I'm still hoping this is just lighting. Karin does look cute though.

Karin is very cute. Towa looks a little questionable, but it could be the angle of the photo/lighting. Liliru's got a strong lip, lol. IRL pics are so helpful. (:

I kind of want Karin's head to make into Eli from Love Live, and Liliru to make a sister for Ellspeth... Towa I'm not sure what to do with yet but I'm sure I'll think of something!

Looking at Towa, it might be a combination of the weird lighting and the blush placement that makes her look odd/different. I remember when I saw Alice's official pictures I didn't like her face, but custom face-ups changed the blush from middle of the cheeks to the upper sides, and it really changed how she looks. Her face takes on a totally different shape, just from the blushing.

I second Yukamina about Towa. Towa's face shape reminds me a bit of Takane and in bad lighting my girl Aveline gets a similar problem. It's not as pronounced probably because the positioning of her blush is more to the upper outer sides of the cheeks, instead of right on the curved part like Towa's. Liliru probably does have a strong upper lip but the lighting is definitely making it worse... Karin looking really good despite the lighting is a really good sign though!

Also, I didn't realize it consciously about Takane and Towa, but that would easily explain the feeling of immediate love I had for Towa's sculpt. The only other fully stock (faceup/wig/eyes) doll I've had that for is Takane, who is pretty much my impossible/unfeasible grail lol

I think Liliru's profile was in Volks news and the upper lip looked really pronounced there, too ^_^;

 

But I like how other girls are looking!

I'm just so happy Volks is finally making a variety of sculpts available for folks who don't particularly want a licensed/fullset DD.

Such a shame about Liliru's lip, but maybe modders will be able to sand it into a nicer shape.

I can see how the shadow would make those two look strange. It almost made me second think about Towa, but I better not do that because the other pictures made her look SO cute. I think there's some lens distortion going on in that shot too, because her face looks downright asymmetrical there--and we know from other photos that she's not that, well, warped. Somebody had their zoom settings all fooked up.

Now that you mention it Towa really does look like Takane and the weirdness of that photo is almost the exact weirdness I've noticed in 'bad' photos of Takane/Takane with bad lighting etc.

 

I'd love to see a comparison with Takane eventually, actually.

I'll probably get her eventually to be Haku at this rate so I'll be able to do that! They'll both have white hair too.

Towa is cute! Looks like it was just the lighting making her cheeks look weird.

Towa does look better in those pics I think, but I still want to see owner photos the most. Same for Liliru! Her big lip might actually be cute, although I do wonder if anyone plans to mod it.

I need an outside opinion on this: does Towa's face viewed at an angle look kind of 'flat'? à la Smart Dolls? I'm bad at seeing this kind of thing from photos so I'm not sure if it's phone-camera distortion or me overthinking it or a genuine feature of the sculpt.

When, oh, when will they release these girls??? We haven't even gotten a release date and I really wanna buy karin.

In my opinion she looks round in the face and not flat at all. But I still wanna see her in person.

Release is still TBA, I thought they were gonna be at Dolpa next weekend but then they announced a delay, so probably not August.
