Volks discontinuing standard models (?)

One of the owner tweets said 'I can't get enough of her adorable slightly open mouth!' I think you can't see it in the yahoo pic cos of the high angle.

As for them coming to Volks USA, my bets are they will. Volks USA has carried the standard models thus far, don't see why it'll change now.

Wow, Towa is stunning! She reminds me of Sasara, maybe a bit more mature looking.

 

I've been looking for an MDD and Liliru MIGHT be it? She looks WAY better in that fan's photo, Volk's photos as usual make everything look terrible. I actually love the lip! I hope to see more owner photos...

 

I'm not a huge fan of the faceup and maybe we will see her in owner pics without faceup or in a different faceup... I tried 'shopping the faceup off her and I'm still not sure about her... hm... need more pics! She MIGHT be the one I'm looking for...

My Towa hasn't shipped, either. They said "may take 7-14 days" iirc, so we may need to wait another week. I'm hoping not, though.

It looks like it's slightly open and darkness_akn has just painted it a uniform color, making the opening less evident. But yeah, it's definitely not as open as, say, that of DDH08.

 

My Towa appears to be somewhere on a plane right now, so when she arrives I'll be able to let everyone know/take photos to show how much her mouth matches the prototype images, if more photos haven't already surfaced by then.

I am ordering my Towa soon!!

More Towas, always more Towas! It's great so see them shipping out one by one. I'm hoping my girl will be here by Saturday (because someone will be here to sign for her then! If she waits for the next week I'll have to get her from the post office, pfeh)

 

I agree with Ie-Aster, it's just the painting: she still seems to have a gentle part, from many other photos. Please, please do though, Aster! The owner photos I've seen (posted above) the mouth is...still gently open, but unfortunately painted (to my tastes). Very different from the prototype photos. Mine seems to be hovering on "outbound from Osaka Int" and I'm hoping she updates soon.

 

EDIT: Yasu on Twitter was kind enough to take what looks like an explicitly up-shot of Towa's 'open mouth', which also provides good insight into how her mouth is painted.

 

 

When viewed like that, I think it's ADORABLE. You can see on zoom the inset open mouth, subtly painted in. They just painted the lips too (where in the product promo photos, it looks like they blushed them instead). That's the difference I'm seeing.

It looks like she's kind of sticking her tongue out to me on that close up.

 

As for the repainted image, I actually like that better. It givers her a very loving older sister vibe. A Belldandy like personality comes to mind with that repaint.

Thanks for posting the closeup, Raine. She looks cute in a much younger more mischievious way from that angle.

 

Mine has left customs and is probably in my city right now. I wish I could just go to the sorting depot and pick her up, but even if USPS allowed that, I wouldn't get any work done the rest of the day as a result : P

Thank god she went to Chicago; that facility is reasonably prompt. Who knows how long you'd be waiting if she went to NY or NJ like Fate did--those facilities are particularly beleaguered, especially this time of year, so she wound up spending a MONTH in NY customs, poor girl. >.<

OH god that's terrible! I've only ever dealt with Chicago and LA customs and both are reasonably prompt (Chicago moreso, I've only ever had a doll sit in LA for like...24 hours? Max?) That's TERRIBLY to hear about NY and NJ. Eesh. Poor Fates indeed!

So many adorable dolls! A friend ordered Towa and I can't wait to see her in person. I really want to see Karin's head blank, want to see if she'd work for a custom I have in mind.

THANK YOU for posting pictures of Karin!! She is so, so sweet and kind of on my wishlist haha. Her face-up looks beautiful, especially with those bright green eyes. I'm really impressed!! By comparison Towa's seems a little...low-key. But maybe that's her darker eyes.

Chicago? All my Volks orders have always come through LA.

 

And I love seeing Karin.

Aaah....if I wasn't waiting on this Lottery I'd straight up buy Karin (though if I win Suigintou I'll happily just look for a long time). She's so pretty to me. I would change the face-up for fun, but I actually like the default a lot too.

 

Too bad she had to be DDS. I hate that body's slimness. It just is too small for me personally.

I'm super excited to see pictures of her though. I know she's kinda boring with this release (At least when compared to the enthusiasm of Towa -- who I personally don't like due to small mouth) but I like Karin's face a lot. She's like how I wanted 07 to look or something. Like it corrects the things I disliked about that mold somehow.

 

I doubt I make sense, but oh well. I just like her. o3o
