Volks discontinuing standard models (?)

I feel like everyone's favorite is Towa, but mine is Karin.

I love her little smile.

 

Is there a way to buy their head's separate? I wanted to put Karin on an MDD body.

 

 

Unfortunately Volks doesn't really offer their heads separately. The only exception was getting blank versions of the original standards(except Candy and Mirai) because their heads were DDH-01,02,03,04, and 06. But seeing that the new standards are all original sculpts it's unlikely they will be released as blanks.

 

Best you can do is look in the secondhand market(places like Mandarake or YJA) to see if anyone was willing to part with their heads. Or purchase the full doll and sell the parts you don't need.

 

That's disappointing. I wish they would allow you to pick the body when you order.

 

Me toooo. I’m in the same boat, getting Towa but want her on a DDIII body. But there’s worse things than getting to see a different type of body before it sells.

 

I was messing around with some of the pictures of Towa in Photoshop because I was curious about the sculpt. (I used @CUTiE_LILIA's pictures from Dollpoint)

 

I think if someone wanted a more mature androgynous sculpt, Towa would be a decently good choice. I could see the head actually working very well for a boy DD.

 

I didn't mess with the default face-up too much because I don't want to paint over the entire face. All I did was make the eye designs smaller, removed some extra eyelashes and changed the mouth and eyebrows.

One thing I am really liking about Towa is that she has a longer face.

The longer, more mature face, agreed. There's a lot of cute wider faces out there, more youthful, but how Towa looks more mature is exactly why I'm drawn to her.

 

Subaru, you raise a fantastic point! And your mock-up is gorgeous - she has so many possibilities. I'm so excited to see more and more of her floating around. Same for Karin though - again, the more I look at her, eesh. So cute...

Sunaru, nice edit! I love Towa, I think she'd make a very nice boy ^_^ Too bad she comes with a DDy body, the only DD body I have no interest in.

I'm sorta getting a Kirino Kousaka vibe from Karin but it's probably just because of her hair color (which I love).

 

Ever since you said that I can't get it out of my head.... I really want a 1/3 Kirino.... Now I really MUST see blank shots of her head!!

Looks like Towa is the most popular, she's already sold out and waiting for restock. Karin and Liliru are still available as of now. Anyone here get one of these three yet?

I've been searching for owner pics but only found one of Liliru so far.

Arg, I forgot they were releasing Liliru today and I already spent most of my money! And my next two paychecks have already been spoken for by cosplaying supplies. Then there's Christmas shopping I need to be doing...

 

Looks like Liliru is going to have to wait until Janurary. Oh well, that just means I can take whatever I have leftover from all my other shopping plans to buy her some cute outfits and maybe a couple of wigs.

Looks like her face has a bit of chub to it which I cant really make my mind up on - it looks cute in some photos and a little bloated in others (but that could also just be the lens/bad lighting)

I will say I think her mouth looks a little on the small side, although this could be fixed with a faceup.

The way its just slightly open is really cute though.

I plan on getting a Karin (She'll be named Suzu.) after she come to Volks USA, hopefully before my birthday so she'll be my birthday present (Late Feb.).

Muaha! I nabbed a Towa too, and seeing these photos just solidified my love for her. Oh my lord I think she's stunnnnnning. Hahaha that's part of why I love her sculpt, myself. I identify with that on a very deep level, muahah.

If Volks is nice enough to send them over some the same time they send over the outs that went on sale the same day, then I'd say late December at the soonest. I'm hoping they'll be here at least early next year so I can get Karin for my birthday (Late February.).

Still really on the fence about Liliru but this is the cutest pic I've seen so far.

Still haven't seen anyone put a different wig or eyes on her, which is what I really wanna see.

Seems different from the promo photos? Or maybe just weird angle/lighting? I haven't seen enough owner pics but it's not what I expected.

 

edit: her mouth looks really different! Volks did this with Sheryl, too- they gotta stop doing detailed mouth painting prototypes if they can't actually produce them.
