New announcements? SAO and Emilia Dollfie Dreams

Might be a new face up on Asuna but 99% sure it'll be the same sculpt with elf ear attachments like on Kirika. And like Kirika expect that they'll mostly just fit her ears unless you use blue tack or something.

If people looking for elf ears Azone did a pair that works for a lot of DD.

Hoping they'll sell the outfit set separately as already have original Asuna but not too fussed. Can't wait for Kirito! I've been saying for years now that if Volks did a male DD they'll do Kirito. ^^ I expect he'll use the standard DD skeleton as opposed to the DDS but if so then as it's a new body they might have them as the pre-order project for this year.

So tempted on Emilia! Even though I'm a Rem shipper I still really like Emilia's design ^_^

I have a feeling it's going to be a long wait and a lottery. If any of you guys noticed it's becoming rin & len all over again. Show a art picture and they are just starting this new project

I say start rasing money now just in case!

Do you have a link? I can't seem to find them

That's because for whatever bizarre reason, they were officially dubbed "pixie ears". http://store.junkyspot.com/pw-6000-parabox-pixie-ears-for-gretel-head-white-skintone/

In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.

yes those were the one's I was thinking of! Sorry probably should've said Parabox ears but they're made mostly for Azone and Obitsu. They do work with DD though too You can also find them on the parabox website somewhere.

I'm so hoping everything you just said will come true. (Would also be nice to be able to buy the ears separate)

So, how exactly does a pre-order work with Volks? Although I was very tempted to, I did not enter for Len.

Len and Rin were not preorders, they were lottery. Pre-orders are how dolls like Santa Alter, Hatsune/Snow Miku, the Idolmaster girls on the DD Pretty body, etc were bought.

Pre-orders are very simple. The dolls will be available for order starting at a date (lets say March 1st) and ending at a later date (lets say March 28th). During the pre-order time, anyone can purchase a doll either in full or by a down payment now and rest of cost when the doll is ready to ship. The time after the pre-order finishes and when the dolls pre-ordered actually ship varies. Volks releases the "estimated delivery date" with the pre-order information so you know when to expect your new dolls. There are no "click wars" for pre-orders because the dolls are not made yet.

I ordered Snow Miku, and multiple things of her's via pre-order (fluffy coat set, Hatsune Miku bag, Twinkle Snow set) and have not had any problems. I have also completed pre-orders through Volks and VolksUSA and can say there is not much of a difference between them, except VolksUSA sends out handy emails about status of the pre-orders and such things.

True, if your talking about Volks USA.

Wrong, if your talking about Volks International. You don't have to pay them until the dolls are "finished"/ready to ship. One of the reasons I don't really understand why people buy from Volks USA

Ah, so it's Parabox, not Azone... I have a need for elf ears for a certain Link cosplay :3

One of the reasons I don't really understand why people buy from Volks USA

Because I'd rather pay for it up front, then there is no scramble to find the money when the doll shows up. It's insurance that I get the doll as life always tends to throw unexpected costs my way.

The above is a very good point.

Also, the less people buy from Volks US, the more probable it is that Volks JP will see having that store open as a loss and close it for good. They already closed the retail part of the US store a few years back so I wouldn't put it past them to close the branch entirely if they continued to see sales dropping off.

I personally like buying from the US store because not only does it support a store in the US, it helps show that the North American market is viable for Volks and that they should pay us more attention. So the more people buy from the US store, the better it is for everyone involved.

I know Volks JP doesn't see things like this, nor does it operate its business the way western ones do but all I have is hope and that's enough for me.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Don't get me wrong, I was talking about paying months before the item will be released

You both have a point, but even a big company like Volks can become insolvent if they have unforseen trouble or something. Your money is lost in that case. Losing $700 or $800 is a lot if you can win the Doll on Volks Inter. without the risk.

I don't see a problem buying things they have in stock and I didn't mean it that way either

For me, it is three reasons.

1. I am primarily a resin bjd and soft doll collector and in those categories when you pre-order a doll you pay something up front. Could be a down payment, layaway program, or full. So part of it is I am just "used to it".

2. Once VolksUSA has the doll it only takes two days to ship her to me at less than half the cost of shipping from Japan.

3. This lines up with what you have responded to. It is a way for me to say that doll is "mine" because it has already been paid for. It also means I do not have to worry about finding money for the doll later (even just some money down means I have less to gather up later).

Also, it helps manage my spending. If I do not have the money for it now, I do not buy it. Reserving something without paying for it is like putting it on a credit card, which I do not like to do unless I can pay it back immediately.

I'm so excited to see Kirito and Asuna but I'm worried about the fact that they're very likely going to be lottery. Do you guys think that VolksUSA will also host the lottery? I'm so worried that I'll love them and not have a chance to get them. Due to not having enough money or just not winning the lotto. I'm not even sure how the lotteries even work. Do you pay when you win or, in case of like a long year production idk how they handle their lotto items, do you get to wait until the item has been made?

You know you can turn off signatures if they make you uncomfortable.

How lotteries work is to randomly select people and give them the privilege to purchase the product in said lottery. Say you enter the lottery and you win. Volks will send you an invoice for you to pay for the product. Volks also states when the dolls will be delivered. So wait times will exist because they haven't been made and/or they have to sort all lottery winners.

This is an example of the scheduling of one of Volk's lottery dolls.

Although cross your fingers that Kirito and Asuna will be overproduced like Len/Rin to the point they are hugely unsold and they put them up for regular sale. Or cross your fingers that they will be preorders(problem with that is that they take much longer to get delivered).

Thank you! This was super useful. I'm really new to this stuff, I did manage to preorder a Momo when she was announced, but I've never done any of the lotteries so I'm very grateful for that post and your explanation.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed that they either make a crap load or do a preorder. I can handle a long wait time as it would give me time to gather the money. xD

Well they're not in the upcoming dolpa so they might appear at either the one in May, August or December. If they're a pre-order they they'll be announced around Autumn. And if there's something you want I suggest saving up now so you're ready.

I have no interest in SAO, but I might try for Kirito anyways, if he's even half as cute as Len is. I feel like his design is generic enough that he'd be easy to customize.

Hmm all three sound interesting to me. Me friend wants all three and I'm wishing luck for her. I'm excited to see how they turn out. A friend of mine has a Asuna and she's very pretty in person. I imagine the elf one will be nice too :3

I am surprised that they are coming out with another male doll so quickly. I am happy for everyone who would love male DDs because this gives them a choice of more than just Len. It will be interesting to see if he will use the Sister body or a bigger body.

I am excited to see the two girls. I bet they will both be stunning. In fact, I am seriously considering waiting and trying for an elf Asuna as my first doll with full blessings and luck from my fiance (who currently has two figures of Asuna). The hard part will be having the patience to wait for more information about them.

I am looking forward to Emilia! I saw these photos on twitter of the announcements, and actually watched all of Re:Zero as a result. (...in all of 2 days time x__x)

I wish she'd had more screen time though. I really liked what I saw of her, but she seemed to be barely there especially compared to Rem. Because of this, I'm less likely to want to buy doll-Emilia, since I choose dolls based on character (whether it's a character doll or a custom project). But if another season comes out between now and then...?

I'm also interested to see Kirito.

...also I secretly wish for a Crusch Karstein DD x__x

not that that's likely at all, of course.

Next Volks News is mid-April, and it will contain info for Tokyo Dolpa in May. I'd be surprised if we don't hear anything about at least one of them because I feel like there should be more than one new DD for May Dolpa - since there were none at Kyoto Dolpa last weekend.
