New announcements? SAO and Emilia Dollfie Dreams

Kirito will work for an OC of mine so that's yay. The body is good too for him since he's not really muscular, although he isn't as shrimpy as a certain other dude who's gonna be a DDS boy. lol I had wished it was slightly broader overall but oh well. Now if we can get something with those proportions in 70cm height I'll have a body for Samael.

So just trying to get a time frame

 

it seems the lottery will be from 22nd April - 22nd May (one month as per volks latest method) with payments being due probably around the end of may? Early june?

 

but released in mid july?

Which you'd think would be filled by the Granado Vindoll body, but I guess he's too tall relative to a DD for most characters, even beefy ones. *shrug*

Personally, I would just like to see one in his late teens/early 20's who is past puberty age. Or something like the Volks resin Graffiti body.

I would be stoked if they made an outfit pack for Asuna for her undine form. Wig, costume, eyes. No need to make a third doll for this set. I wish the same for Kirito for his gun gale online avatar... heehee. But likely mostly because he reminds me of Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia with that hair

I can see that body in SD form, but its harder to see it with an anime character. Muscular anime characters often seem to have exaggerated shoulder hip ratios. Like Goku from DBZ, or Benares from 3x3 Eyes. Shoulders twice as wide as their hips and then some.

 

Granted Benares was very impressive looking, and a 24 inch tall version would be pretty awesome.

 

I would think a frame like that would be hard to get clothes to hang properly on though.

Since no one has mentioned it I think it's worth pointing out that they seem to have stopped the upfront payment/guaranteed preorder at Dolpa. Instead, it's a lottery with a higher win rate. While this is how they used to do it, the difference is that even if you win, you still get the lottery results, and the doll, at the same time as everyone else.

 

I think it's kinda sad that they're going back to that because a bunch of people getting the doll early and before the lottery closes was a really good way to see owner pics if you were on the fence about it.

On the other hand I am in love with SDC Renee and was lamenting that I won't be able to afford her even though I'm going to Dolpa, but now I'm relieved because even if I win I won't have to pay until July. (Which is making it harder to talk myself out of it)

 

So Kirito may actually be rarer than Len as there's no guaranteed preorder for him. Good luck everyone!

The boy body is kinda cute. Not muscular at all, but he would work really nice for long lanky characters. Oh dear, I just got Free! vibes. My fiance must be thinking of me (it is his favorite new Anime).

I must say I am kinda disappointed with the new body since they should at least make an L bust version-welp still gonna get it though QAQ

Len and Rin were not preorders, they were lottery. Pre-orders are how dolls like Santa Alter, Hatsune/Snow Miku, the Idolmaster girls on the DD Pretty body, etc were bought.

Pre-orders are very simple. The dolls will be available for order starting at a date (lets say March 1st) and ending at a later date (lets say March 28th). During the pre-order time, anyone can purchase a doll either in full or by a down payment now and rest of cost when the doll is ready to ship. The time after the pre-order finishes and when the dolls pre-ordered actually ship varies. Volks releases the "estimated delivery date" with the pre-order information so you know when to expect your new dolls. There are no "click wars" for pre-orders because the dolls are not made yet.

 

I ordered Snow Miku, and multiple things of her's via pre-order (fluffy coat set, Hatsune Miku bag, Twinkle Snow set) and have not had any problems. I have also completed pre-orders through Volks and VolksUSA and can say there is not much of a difference between them, except VolksUSA sends out handy emails about status of the pre-orders and such things.

Ah, I guess I misunderstood then. Wasn't there some thing where people at Wonfes(or some "con"?) could order before the lottery opened then? (Idk but something in me says there was something about them.)

 

I'm not sure if I like Kirito's sculpt, it reminds me of Sinon, I think? With the lips lower on the face. I might need some owner pics. I'm still interested in the body, can't wait for more info on that. Maybe if I wait long enough these boy bodies will be standards orz Volks is going to empty my wallet one way or another...

I feel like they managed to catch Asuna perfectly but Kirito somehow isn't quite right. Will be trying for him anyway though. o(≧∇≦o)

Not sure yet if I want to go fullset on both. What is the price usually for a head/body/clothes/weapons split?

They really had to give her a different face, I loved SAO, I might not be able to resist X3)

If I recall correctly Rin/Len were indeed preorders at a specific location. Then later on became lottery.

 

As for the SAO, I am not sure if they are going to offer preorders at specific locations in JP. Probably not, seeing that the last Asuna was lottery only.

I'm loving these high res pics. This will actually be my first time entering one of the lotteries (even though I've been in this hobby since 2010, how strange), so that'll be interesting. Luckily I don't want him to *be* Kirito, so hopefully that'll keep me from taking it too hard if I lose.

 

Now if only Volks would show pictures of him without his wig; I want to play with hypothetical faceups in PS. =P

I'm very interested in Kirito to go with our Asuna especially as we're a fan of the series

 

Don't think we'll be getting Asuna as we already have her but the new version does look nice as well!

The newer version is from a later arc where Asuna is held captive which is why she has a sadder expression.

 

I made a comparison for anybody interested? There isn't any really nice quality images out yet so this will just give an idea but looks like the blushing/lips is a pinker hue, they removed that golden colour over the eye, changed the angle of the eyebrows, extended the colour of the lips slighly to ease her smile, and gave her new eyes.

 

Thanks for the comparison! It is nice to see Asuna with a gentler smile. I do like her eyes better this time around. She just all around looks more ethereal. Just lovely.

Ok... so Asuna looks really pretty... but are those cuffs molded to her elf ears? Or are the separate? The photos make it seem like they are one piece, which would be a deal breaker for me (assuming I'd even have a chance with such dismal lottery results of mine lately XD)

lol he does look especially noodle-y in that comparison pic. Long legs are longgg I'm assuming those are Kirito and Len's blank heads? I'm excited to see the upcoming custom guys using him to start.

 

It's nice to see the difference between the two Asunas. I usually like extra smiley faceups but the sort of concerned smile she has going on in the newer version is very beautiful.

I just realized how awkward the DD boy body looks O_O Looks like they only changed the legs, which makes the torso and arms look short and the whole anatomy look very wrong... I mean, they should have at least made longer arms too, you know??

I would so love to get Kirito and the servant of evil outfit for Len. Just waiting for the info when the lottery and after event are. It's nice that Volks made a DD male, I was expecting them to but Kirito into DDS boy body.

It was Nagoya Doll's Party, Volks own event. (that's where my Rin came from) I did say this on the previous page but it looks like it's been lost but just to reiterate: Rin/Len were the first time Volks did a 'preorder at Dolpa and then lottery after' thing, then they continued this with Freyja and Santa Alter. That made me think it was the new method of doing things, but this time it's back to their old way of doing it with lottery only - going to Dolpa only increases your chances instead of guaranteeing it. (the main difference is that I believe the 'old way' had the lottery drawn at Dolpa so you could get the doll there if you won, but now the lottery is drawn for everyone at the same time whether you entered at Dolpa or the regular way.)

I just thought people might wanna know that, because unlike with Rin and Len there's no guaranteed way to get these two new - you wont be able to pay a proxy to get you a Dolpa preorder like a few people did here with Len.

 

I kinda wonder if the amount of scalpers who preordered hoping to sell them to people who lost the lottery - and the amount of scalpers who didnt end up paying for their lottery dolls when they realised they wouldn't be able to sell them for double due to the sheer number that ended up coming out of it, contributed to this, and it makes me kinda sad. But to be honest I was worried that Volks would have taken all those unsold Lens as indication that a boys body doesn't sell (he's still in stock on the Volks site last time I checked) so I'm glad this doesn't seem to be the case.

 

 

In other news I saw some speculation on twitter that Emilia could be this year's lottery doll (one of them anyway). But who knows, she could be at August Dolpa too.

Ok just saw the newest Volks blog entry on Asuna and seems they have changed the sculpt as well!! o.o (assuming the rough translation is correct) I did think there were slight changes in my comparison earlier but just put that down to poor image quality and lighting but nope seems it is different.

 

Now that I know it is different I think the mouth has been changed slightly, the nose might be a bit more sharper, and possibly very slight change to the eye holes. Overall the changes are super small but we'll see when clearer pics come out.

 

Also the ear clips are separate to the elf ears so you can remove them.
