elianti Posted April 10, 2017 *chants* "MDD boy body. MDD boy body. MDD boy body." ... What? This is the wrong place for this? Oh well. I'll be going now... ~Sister Kyoya Welp since we got a DDS boy and now a DD boy, reasonably speaking we should be expecting an MDD boy next right? But this is Volks, and we all know how unpredictable and mysterious they can be.
SisterKyoya Posted April 10, 2017 The other thing that makes me nervous is when/if the boys are ever going to be standard. It isn't just about the bodies, because if they were standard it would (hopefully) make Volks do more standard male sculpts as well. We certainly could youse the more male shaped eyes! And then with the DDP body does this vaguely mean there is a hope for a DDP boy too? I know Eddie wouldn't be against that and I'd want one for Nicholas as well. Although I'm not into the SAO stuff, even when I look at Kirito it is obvious that his chin is too short. It has the same distance between the chin & the mouth as Tama (DDH03) and one of the reasons why he has such a 'babyface'. It just looks so wrong on an older boy like Kirito. If there was a male dynamite, would he be DDTnt? Lastly, Volks why is it you insist that all of the boy bodies are lottery releases? That's just a new level of snark especially since the DDP was preorder. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram

Kirito isn't an older boy!! That nerd got into Aincrad at age 14, and his in-game avatar reflects his real life face (and doesn't 'age' for 2 years everyone is in the game) PLUS he laments that IRL he is mistaken for "another sister instead of older brother" when people see him with his little sister... sooooooo, the Volks doll in the early Black Swordsman look appearing so cute and young & soft is actually kinda on-point ....I'm a nerd..... <_<;;

Honestly I was a little surprised and sort of disappointed he wasn't on the same body type as Len given that. I'm really happy Volks is making a bigger boy body, and excited to see what they do with other characters.. but I do feel he should look younger. He's supposed to be younger than Asuna! SisterKyoya Posted April 11, 2017 Since I don't know anything about SAO I was just comparing it to the promo drawing vs. the photos. Also my very tiny tiny irritation with the chin issue is that it makes it harder to reuse for a different boy. Also wondering if this is a trend we are seeing with Volks and being fearful of actually giving boys a real male jaw. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Oni-Chan Posted April 12, 2017 https://www.volks.co.jp/sp_d_019_newdollfie_en/?version=en Lottery page is up. Edit: seems the new way of entering is volks takes upfront payments/ hold payments before even confirming your entry :/ if you win, they finalize the sale, if you loose, the release the hold. =____= I have more dollfies than my age in years *×*

I hope that for Visa card that means they just make a reservation for the payment and not actually charge the money before winning. I think I'll put in my entry for the lottery next month just to make sure it does not end up in this months visa bill. My blog Pihlajakoto
Monty Posted April 12, 2017 That really is bizarre. I wonder if its the same for Dolpa entries? (Cos there goes my hopes of entering for Renee if so...) thanks a lot, Rin/Len flakers! cos lets be real its no mystery whose fault it is. *twitter*instagram*art*
Gabriel Posted April 12, 2017 Hmm. Well, if nothing else, it means the number of flaky lottery entrants they get is cause for concern and justification of a procedural change.
Poofiemus Posted April 12, 2017 Well I suppose that does make it easier to budget and make sure you don't spend money you don't have, but still not fun. Then again, what about lotteries is fun in the first place? In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser.
AyaToyBox Posted April 12, 2017 For someone who never won the lottery this break my heart unless I enter and finally get a doll this way
Yukamina Posted April 12, 2017 I guess this change will cut down on multiple entries. After all how many of your friends and family would put down the money even temporarily for the extra entries? Or how many of you have the money for multiple DDs at once? It'll also prevent people who want the doll but haven't actually saved up from entering. I myself am guilty of hoping to make the money for a lottery doll between the entry period and the draw, that's actually how I got Len. I have mixed feelings about the change, but it's probably a good idea. My Etsy Shop ~~~ My DeviantArt

On the upside, it probably DOES make it a bit harder for scalpers, since they'd pretty much have to pay any accomplices up front now. In this household, sanity is considered a tresspasser. ArcticWolfie Posted April 12, 2017 That's just stupid way of paying, a reservation should be enough no?
Luca-Nyan Posted April 12, 2017 Wow, I wonder how much you need to pay upfront O.O And still wondering if I should try for Asuna's head, full-set or not at all. This would definitely be easier if I didn't already have Asuna V1. Does anyone know how DD are usually split in price? I have absolutely no experience with splits. SisterKyoya Posted April 12, 2017 Frankly I'm actually surprised Volks hadn't done this LONG before now. To me it actually makes sense. I'm not saying it's nice or anything, but from a business standpoint it makes sense. I'm just glad I got Len before they changed things. I can't ever think of another DD I would have suffered through the lottery for after the flaming disappointment of Rin Toshaka (I think I spelled it right.) It does make me wonder if Volks is trying to revamp their entire payment system so they aren't constantly left with trying to sell the unclaimed dolls. Makes me a bit nervous how or if this could affect the Preorder Girls as well. Would the same rule apply? If so I think Volks would find a significant drop in sales. Still the whole lottery and massive exclusivity it creates is something I find so very distasteful. I know there have been people waiting YEARS specifically for a DD Kirito and then Volks goes and does this. It just makes me acutely remember the heartache I went through with Len, and how much of the time I thought the universe was going to shaft me yet again. I love our DD, but more often than not Volks pisses me off. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Mimiyo3 Posted April 12, 2017 Like SK i'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. Honestly seeing this makes me wish they'd just do order periods instead of lotteries for everything. There's a period to make the order, you do so and pay then, then they make it. Having to give up the money even temporarily when It's not certain I'll even get it leaves a truly awful taste in my mouth... Like, I honestly wouldn't care at all if I had to wait longer to get the doll, I just want to give them the money and get a doll guaranteed at this point. Sure we probably won't be listened to but it's probably worth actually sending emails and stuff to tell them this. Present! Miku, Aria, Celia, Melody, Aveline, Rin T, Ted, Chi, Yumi, Melanie, Rin K, Len, Ea, Alter, Illya, Rachel, Aelia, Matt, Jace, & E.N.O. W.I.P. Rose, Tara Waiting Hannah, Lucy, Sonya. BeyondTime Posted April 12, 2017 . I can't ever think of another DD I would have suffered through the lottery for after the flaming disappointment of Rin Toshaka (I think I spelled it right.) Tohsaka, and I had that same disappointment plus Takane. I have both now, but it was like a punch in the gut losing on both entries. I did win a Miku a few months later, and she's awesome. Such a cute, unique, and expressive face. It made me feel better about the lotteries. The difference between Dollfie Dreams and Heroin? Heroin is illegal, Dollfie Dreams probably should be. “Empty wallets, full hearts.” That’s probably an apt description for the effects of DD addiction

Mario Posted April 12, 2017 There goes my chances of going for Asuna xD I don't have the money to cough up, to pay upfront for the lottery. I'm just gunna skip on her this time. :v
shikaree Posted April 12, 2017 I'm pretty sure the change increases your chances of winning, if you actually intended to buy. So, it's fine with me. Although yes, you do have to have money up front. You're not actually paying, if I'm reading it correctly, for payment by credit card. They place a hold for a certain amount. It's deducted from your line of credit but you won't actually be billed for it on the monthly statement. I'm not sure if holds automatically expire after a month or so. Not entirely familiar with it. I'm guessing they will make the authorization hold shortly before drawing for winners. And any declined would be automatically DQ'd from winning. The winning entries will then have authorizations settled. Rest are canceled.
Monty Posted April 13, 2017 (edited) Everyone's talking about credit cards but not everyone has one. I certainly don't. How would this affect PayPal, or in my case paying with cash? Scouring the page I can't find a single mention of how it works at Dolpa other than the fact that you have the choice of paying cash to the delivery man or at a chosen store, so I hope that means Dolpa entries don't pay till then...unless they want a deposit, and even if I had enough for a deposit on the day, they might have made the deposit only payable by card so it can be refunded easier Like yeah logically i understand this but it just feels wrong to do it for lotteries. No one wants to pay for things they don't own yet or even know if they will own yet. The precious method of upfront payment for preorder lottery made WAY more sense. But as was said it will be interesting to see how this affects win rates. Edited April 13, 2017 by Guest *twitter*instagram*art*
Oni-Chan Posted April 13, 2017 Im the type of person to use the time from the initial announcement/ lottery opening til the payment date to scrape together the $$ to pay for lottery wins. But theres no way i can scrape together enough money before the entry period..... I feel sad too, cause kirito is the first DD my husband has shown real interest in, enquiring about him on his own accord. (Most times hes like "shes cute, if you want to get her" after i show him pics and stuff :/ ) Heres hoping for a click war and lots of luck later on but i doubt it :/ I have more dollfies than my age in years *×*
aquaria13 Posted April 13, 2017 Man I am soooo happy that I don't want any of those dolls but I really hope they fix this... or at least explain it in more detail because this sounds like a failed attempt at a new lottery method... Why don't they do a down payment of half the doll? That would be waaaay better! They would probably get more people too!
SisterKyoya Posted April 13, 2017 Everyone's talking about credit cards but not everyone has one. I certainly don't. We use a reloadable credit card that websites see as just a normal credit card, but our available balance isn't dependent on a line of credit, but by how much we have previously paid to put on the card. So the new system seems to heavily favor traditional credit cards, but could leave Paypal and other methods as either difficult or problematic at best. If I did try to enter the lottery (wasn't planning on it) it wouldn't go through anyway because there would be insufficient funds as if we had maxed our credit limit. I just find the new system to be very aggravating to say the least. Im the type of person to use the time from the initial announcement/ lottery opening til the payment date to scrape together the $$ to pay for lottery wins. This is precisely what I did for Len and the ONLY way I was able to manage to get him. It was a combination of sheer dumb luck including being able to skew our budget at the time when it normally would be impossible. It just makes me so very, very sad that Volks is taking that option away from those in the hobby who may not have the easiest time obtaining their long awaited DD that later become prohibitive or completely off limits. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
