moevelvet Posted March 11, 2017 Is there any places other than Volks that sell DD hands in other poses? Or might it be possible to heat and reshape hands? I'd like my MDD to be able to salute, but none of the Volks hands are in the proper pose: a flat hand with the fingers together.
elianti Posted March 12, 2017 I don't think it would be possible to reshape vinyl hands using heat the same way that can be done with resin. That would just make the vinyl return to the shape it was originally molded in. However, there is a very unconventional and experimental way to reshape vinyl that I've been testing for a while.. that involves pure acetone. If you soak vinyl(not resin!) in acetone diluted in water, it'll soften up and expand after a short time. After that you can try reshaping it into the pose you want. Obviously this would work best when using the basic or paper/outspread hands to start. The downside is that soaking a vinyl piece in acetone also shrinks it if you leave it soaking for long(like for several hours/days). I have a much more detailed report about this and more drafted that I'll be posting soon-ish if you're up for this sort of mod. The much easier option is to find other makers of DD-compatible hands of course! I think I saw a thread about some pose-able DD hands a while back, but idk if they had an MDD version. edit: found the thread-- viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14526 They did not have an MDD version though, unfortunately. K-2 Posted March 12, 2017 It is possible to use resin hands on a vinyl. Here's a tutorial on the process on an Obitsu. The procedure would be similar for a DDs or MDDs. You would have to find a pair of hands you like with a color match. http://www.junkyspot.com/OBITSU/forums/index.php?showtopic=26214
