Loose ankle joints - posing problems

Recommended Posts

missadventure364

Hey everyone!

I just bought Asuna, and I love her... but I'm having some major problems with her. Her normal feet fit perfectly, and she can pose excellently. However when I put her shoes/feet on and she will not stand at all. She immediately falls foreword or backwards. No matter what I do, she will not stand.

Is there any way to fix this? I just want to pose her with her stock outfit on. I've tried everything I can think of to stop her from falling in one direction or another but with no luck.

I'm not familiar with Asuna's feet, but I would consider getting a doll stand for her if you want to display her standing. I don't like to leave my dolls standing on their own, unless they are on a stand or leaning on something.

Good luck!

Any other advice?

I've never had trouble standing any of my dolls, and I don't use doll stands. I don't generally keep all of my dolls standing for long periods of time, especially if they have shoes that appear they would be prone to making them fall over.. then they'll sit. Most of mine actually have their backs against the wall if not sitting.

Really my main problem is coming into play with taking pictures. But not being able to pose a doll is a pretty big deal to me, especially since every picture I take of my dolls (and I love taking pictures) is done without a stand.

As I recall, if you're willing to do some disassembly, there should be a screw on the ball of the ankle joint.

You can try removing the foot with some help from a hairdryer and see if you can tighten that screw, in case if it's lose, just remember not to over tighten it or it may get to stiff to move and even crack.

In my case, the left ankle on my DDS was a bit loose which made it a problem with both posing and leaving her standing for any period of time. (Another word of caution, it is quite a bit of work because of the small size of the piece and its fragility, still... other than that, I would have had to resort to stand in my shoots, too)

That being said, Asuna has custom boots instead of feet, although the mechanism inside should be the same, I'm not too sure about the boots being removable as pieces (and if not that's quite an oversight on the part of Volks)... sadly although I really wanted her, Asuna just didn't end up in the cards for me, so I can't tell you first hand.
