Calling all Yaya parents, aka, did I get cheated?

Argh! Less than a year in this hobby, and I still manage to keep making rather noob mistakes, costly ones. May last year I got my 1st DD, Miku. After getting her and loving her and liking the DDs so much I looked at others Volks had made, and found Yaya. Having just recently watched the anime, I wanted her. Checked around and she was going for $2000. So I kept looking and one popped up on eBay for under $1500, listed as new and unopened. It was the best price I had seen in the month time frame I had been looking so I bought her early June. She was at my door step in 3 days, from Korea! She was still taped shut in the original packaging. I opened up the box and made sure everything was there. Once I had done that I put her back. It never occurred to me there would be an issue with the body. Correct head on a darker body than Miku with a bigger bust than Miku. I thought all was well. My wife approved the purchase in that Yaya would be my Christmas present. So she sat for 6 months. Since Christmas I've had her dressed mostly in her default outfit. This last weekend I was going out of town and changed her and Miku into something more comfortable for travel. I've had them together, but never really side by side, and in the same height shoes. Whelp, As I laid them down next to each other and at the same level, for the 1st time I noticed that Yaya was shorter! So the short of it (Sigh, bad pun!) is I want to know if others with Yaya have also noticed their Yayas are shorter than standard DDs or not. Like maybe Volks gave her DDS legs so that when she has her tall platform default shoes on she didn't tower over other DDs that much. In those shes she was taller than Miku, so I never caught that she was shorter. I also wonder if she has a L bust instead of a M bust as I almost couldn't get her in the S-M sized outfit I put her in for this weekend. I have Santa (Saber) Alter coming next month, so I'll be able to tell about her bust, but height wise, I'm not sure how I should be feeling about this. Could Volks really mess up and put the wrong body in the box? Did the eBay seller change the body? Do I even have a genuine DD Yaya?

Without pictures it is impossible to tell. Lay both naked next to eachother and take photos so we can see.

I could definitely be wrong, but from your images so far, she doesn't look to have a L bust. It looks like she fills out her outfits like a M bust.

well, yaya's original spec lists a normal skin M-bust DD3 body.

 

But how much is the size difference? unless its closer to an inch it could just be that the internal frame is a bit zig-zagged so her torso could be a bit compacted, or that your miku's upper torso piece might not be fully seated on the main peg so she might be taller due to that.

 

you might want to compare torso pieces since I think that was where the biggest difference was to be found. the DDS's are slightly more petite in the M-bust size, than a DD M-bust. Also some outfits, even though they say DD-M as a possible size, they are more comfortable to be put on DDS-M busts, like the holiday gifters. But rest assured, you will not be getting a M-bust only outfit on a L-bust girl without major violence... that difference is substantial.

 

personally I have loads of height differences between DD bodies that are within the 1-1,5cm range probably due to those reasons.

Sorry to take so long to get back. I PMed a fellow forum member when I noticed they had Miku and Yaya, and with info they gave I now know that my Yaya is on a DDS body. Here is a photo of the lower half of my two girls.

 

 

Yaya is on the left and as you can see, her legs are shorter. Using Billy's photos in this thread, I was able to say that Yaya has a DDS top half too (Not sure how I spaced this thread out when I noticed Yaya's shortness as I had read it when I was expecting Miku to show up.). Sigh, it never occurred to me even doubt that she was on the wrong body when I got her so I way missed my chance to get something back. I'll probably still send them a message letting them know. At least I can think of one plus side, thigh high socks will stay on her thigh. On Miku they tend to keep slipping down due to being stretched to look right, but on Yaya there will be slack so they won't sink down.

 

Thanks to those that replied and helped me out otherwise. I'm sad she's on the wrong body, and I could buy her a new correct one, but then I'd have an extra body without a head hanging around. I could fix that, but at the moment I really don't want another girl outside of those I have and have on order. That may change someday, so until then I guess Yaya will be short.

 

P.S. Sorry, no nudes. My girls don't like doing that. Well, Yaya probably would but I won't let her. There will be a post in her photo story thread about the subject once I get Saber.

dds shins are shorter than dd3. Looks like the body might have dds shins at least. Might want to check the waist and shoulders... their widths are different than the dd3s as well.

Update. Yes, Yaya came to me on a DDS body. I contacted the seller, and even though it's been a year since my order, they replied back and got to the bottom of it. They are a consignment type outfit and actually got a hold of the person they sold it for and confirmed that the body had been swapped. Then to my great surprise, even though I now had closure and got all I wanted out the followup, the eBay seller sent me something DD related to make up for it! Talk about customer service!
