Fix the eyes of a DD

Recommended Posts

Morilec

Hi, I'm going to get a DD used, the eyes were removed, being my first DD, I did some research and saw that many use silicone or sticky tack, what do you suggest, to make them stand still? So I can carry around to take pictures without problems.

I initially thought the hot glue, as a default, but I think they're cool before I place them in the choir so.

Sorry for my English, I hope you understand what I mean

Both silicone earplugs and blu tack work. Although if you use Blu tack make sure you get the one that doesn't contain oil(those leave blue stains). Silicone earplugs are convenient to find(usually in most drugstores) and cost around $3-5 USD, you use one of the plugs and split it in half for both eyes, but they can be messy sometimes.

I have used both and they both work fine to keep the eyes in place. I wouldn't suggest using hot glue unless you have 0 plans on changing the eyes.

I've been using the Scotch Removable Mounting Putty.

I used to use the silicone ear plugs but in warm weather they would get kind of slimy. One of the pluses for the Scotch stuff is it's white so if a little pokes out it's not bright blue.

I've used the Scotch mounting putty too, it works great and leaves no residue. White UHU poster tack works the same way.

I've had store brand silicone earplugs cloud the whites where it contacted acrylic eyes. It didn't affect the part of the eyes where it didn't touch. Plus it can leave a residue. So I don't use it any more.

I hope the putty is not difficult to find or too expensive to ship, Morilec! Good luck.

I bought it on Amazon this morning, at around 6 €, that of UHU, I think it's a normal price.

Thank you again!

I've used hot glue and change eyes frequently. I've never had any issues with it. Just don't pack it, and make sure you use low heat hot glue. That will absolutely work!
