Needing advice on how to de-wax wigs

Recommended Posts

SlyViolin

Hello!

A while back I bought a wig from Volks. Opening it up now I see and feel there is far to much wax in it. It is absolutely horrible to touch and looks flat and oily. Anyone have any tips to get rid of this excess and make it look more voluminous?

You know what, f- this god damn wig. I put it on for a hour just to take some photos and it stained her head so badly.

I ONLY HAD THIS HEAD FOR ONE DAY AND I'VE ALREADY RUINED IT.

By any chance was this the default wig that comes with DDdyMiko?

Sorry about the staining, I don't understand why Volks doesn't use cream color wigcaps for their darker wigs.

But what I did when I got my Kagamine Rin wig(had the same problem which looked super oily and flat on the tips) I just brushed it out with a comb and it became all fluffy and smooth.

It was a short shaggy brown - http://volksusastore.com/webstores/dollfie/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=2668

Wig has been thrown into super hot water, vigourously and unkindly scrubbed thrice and is currently sitting on what I am dubbing the' wine bottle of shame' to dry. If it survives I will be amazed. If it survives and looks okay it will be a minor miracle and I might consider allowing it to live.

I will give this to Volks though, I abused the hell out of that wig when washing it, scruffing it about like I was washing a dog and none of the hair came lose or out.

I'd recommend washing it gently with some mild dish soap. Wax is oily and dish soap works to break down grease so it can be rinsed out of/washed off of the object you're cleaning.
