Ie-Aster Posted April 12, 2017 I decided to try making a photo story. Text not in quotes is thoughts. White text is Mei (DD Lucy). Blue text is Akuroma (SmD Eiji). Red-brown text is Eevee. They are characters from Pokémon Black2White2 (and in Akuroma’s case, X&Y and SunMoon as well). Originally they are both from the Unova Region (based on New York), where the photo story is set. The Alola Region, to which Akuroma travels in SunMoon, is based on Hawaii. This is only my second photo story attempt so uh please excuse any mistakes >_< Also, different programs on my computer render color balance and saturation quite differently so if the colors are off I apologize. One day, as the sun slipped in and out of the clouds, two people were talking under an apple tree… At home: Mei (DDP Lucy custom), Aku (DDB Takane custom) En route: L. elianti Posted April 12, 2017 Aww poor Mei! That last panel is heartbreaking ;-;" Akuroma's pursuit of science is too strong to stay in Unova. ><" Will there be a follow-up photostory with Mei following him there, or of his Alolan adventures? I really wonder if Game Freak will do something more with his Alola cameo in future games..
Ie-Aster Posted April 12, 2017 Aww poor Mei! That last panel is heartbreaking ;-;" Akuroma's pursuit of science is too strong to stay in Unova. ><" Poor Mei, indeed...this is what comes of falling for scientists. Will there be a follow-up photostory with Mei following him there, or of his Alolan adventures? When I was making this I kept thinking, "you know, if she wasn't such a tsundere so proud I think she'd run after him and ask if she could come too." I didn't actually think of doing a follow up but that is a good idea...I'd want to make Akuroma's Alola outfit, but all the posh LED panels on the gloves and sleeves will be a problem. I'd do custom-print fabric vinyl but I can't find anywhere that'd do it in small enough quantities. I would also need somewhere that looks vaguely tropical. Unfortunately all I have to work with are dry, arid mountains >__< I really wonder if Game Freak will do something more with his Alola cameo in future games.. On a Pokémon forum I was reading a while back, someone suggested that maybe he'll show up recurrently similar to Looker. Others suspect that the fact he showed up with an outfit change (unlike some of the other cameos, like Cynthia), indicate that he's going to play an important role in potential Sun and Moon sequels. I kinda hope the latter is true. At home: Mei (DDP Lucy custom), Aku (DDB Takane custom) En route: L. (DD Matoi)
Monty Posted April 12, 2017 These photos are so, so beautiful! I like how much emotion you were able to convey from Mei even though her face is pretty expressionless. *twitter*instagram*art*

Ie-Aster Posted April 14, 2017 These photos are so, so beautiful! I like how much emotion you were able to convey from Mei even though her face is pretty expressionless. Thank you! I think it's easier for me to evoke a wide range of expressions from a doll with a more neutral face. I guess because when the default expression is neutral, small changes in angle and lighting can cause subtle shifts. In fact, even though Escalayer resembles Mei's official artwork a lot more closely, one of the reasons I'm glad I used Lucy (who very closely resembles some of my favorite fan art of her) is just this. This is really beautifully done. It gives me all the feels Thanks! Part of what inspired it is my uncertainty about whether I'll even keep doll-Akuroma. I feel like poor Mei would be absolutely heartbroken. I dunno, even though the two of them are just sculpted plastic, it always seems to me that those two dolls are really attached to each other. There was a time when I was having a lot of angst about making Mei (I had her head, but no body, and I was concerned about matching WS with obitsu or DDP bodies) and wondering if I should in fact use a different head. And yet it seemed, looking at the shelf where the head and doll-Akuroma were kept, that doll-Akuroma would somehow be upset by this...It's quite remarkable to me that inanimate objects can convey such a thing.
