Need tips for creating my own eyes

Howzit everybody!

 

I believe it's time for me to step up with my game when it comes to customizing my dolls and I've been thinking of making my own eyes since most of the eyes I've been looking for are kinda hard to find(from the right shade of color to the right size and pattern).

 

I need help to point me to the right direction so I could get the right tools for the job. I know I looked at tutorials online but a little extra help would be nice.

 

I think I want to start with how to make eyes the easier way to how to make eyes the more complex way.

You can also look for blank acrylic bases to make eyes, though I'm not sure where to get them currently besides shops on taobao or aliexpress. The lenses that come with theses bases aren't great, but you can use the method from my tutorial to make resin lenses instead.

I am planning to handle some eye designs of my own, but how would I measure the design and the acrylic bases for the right size of my doll's eyes?

 

I'm planning to go for the basic 22mm and for experimental reasons, something a bit smaller around 18mm like Volks' old eyes.
