baldylox Posted April 17, 2017 When last we met, myself and my troops were heading out to Shinigawa so that Ed could meet a coworker for lunch. The train heading there was strangely vacant for the most part. 091 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr So was the station platform. 092 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Shinigawa is a HUGE station and very pretty inside. 093 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Just how big is it? Check out this map showing all the train lines going into it! The lines are gray on the map. 094 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr The area just outside the station. 095 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 096 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 098 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr I still don't know exactly what these huge drumstick things were but Becca liked them. XD 099 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr The station. 100 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 101 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 102 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 103 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr A cute little doggie police girl! 104 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 105 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 106 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 107 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 108 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 109 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Remember how I said everything in Japan is adorable? LOOK AT THIS FIRE TRUCK. 110 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr This was inside of a Lawsons conbini but it wasn't a regular styled one. THIS was an Organic Lawsons. Which meant that it had the same stuff as the others, just wrapped in different wrappers and priced 3 times as much. XD 111 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Since there really wasn't anything to see or do around the station, once Ed went to lunch we went back to Akiba to grab some food and go shopping. Here's some shots out the front of the train. 112 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 113 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 114 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 115 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Another high end car sitting near our apartment. 116 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Time to check out the Kotobukiya store! I was after a Rei Cupoche figure and I knew they'd have one so off we went. 117 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Some say The Stig has a cute Japanese schoolgirl cousin that only drives motorcycles and never takes off her helmet... 118 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Rei and King Ghidora collide into a super powerful moe monster. 119 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr A huge display of Danbo figures and goods. 120 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Ohh the Saber goodness that is Extra in that swimsuit. 121 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Lot's of pretty Bishojo figures. 122 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Yay! Cupoche figures! These little girls are so adorable! 123 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 124 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr After buying my Rei Cupoche, we headed back out onto the streets and wanting a snack. So we hit Mister Donut! Always a good idea. 125 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Random cool little buildings amongst the towering glass and steel of Akiba. 126 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr After Ed got back from lunch, we went out to visit a small shrine just down from our apartment. On the way I saw these two Gundam models in a shop window. 127 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Arriving at the shrine we washed our hands and set into the area with our DD girls for photo ops. 128 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 129 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 130 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr I put Manami into one of the new Volks outfits I got in the Radio Kaikan store. 131 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 132 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 132 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr She was a bit hesitant to be taking photos in the shrine... something about spooky foxes and demons coming after us. 133 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr I told her as long as she was good and did her prayers and gave the shrine some cash, we would be fine. 134 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr "I told you there were spooky foxes here!" 135 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr 136 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr Manami making her prayer and offering. I *was* going to put in the Volks photo area pics this time but there are too many to add here so I'll make that my next post along with the Mariocart stuff! Thanks for looking! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

Monty Posted April 18, 2017 I agree! And they're lovely photos. I'd be too scared to take my dolls to a shrine unless other people were there doing it too. Did anyone see you? *twitter*instagram*art*
baldylox Posted April 18, 2017 Awwww! Manami is so precious in that outfit! I need to find similar clothes for Aria honestly. Modern, but classy and cute. Thanks so much! I've been after that outfit since it was released, I was amazed to find it for a good price in Mandarake. I really like that style too and I'm sure your Aria would look super sweet in something like this. I agree! And they're lovely photos. I'd be too scared to take my dolls to a shrine unless other people were there doing it too. Did anyone see you? Thank you! Why would you be scared to do that? No one else was there with dolls but there were a couple of people there while we were and none of them said anything to us or gave disapproving looks. We *did* make sure to do our prayers and give some money to the shrine tho.... can't have the spirits getting mad at us! We also took care not to put the girls on any of the actual mini shrines or any other areas that looked "sensitive" or special. Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
Ie-Aster Posted April 19, 2017 Thirding the appreciation for Manami's fashion sense! The soft colors bring out her eyes and the colors in her faceup, and she looks like she's come straight out of an illustration with the cuteness of the outfit. Lol, Lawsons Organic sounds like the Whole Foods of conbinis :p The building with the lanterns and traditional decorations on the modern architecture is interesting. I'm not sure that it quite works, but it's definitely more memorable than the standard concrete block it'd be without the decorations. The advertisements on the train look so pretty. It's quite different from the ones I've seen in Boston trains (or trains in the Hague for that matter). I'm...very curious to know what the creature in the last photo is. xD At home: Mei (DDP Lucy custom), Aku (DDB Takane custom) En route: L. (DD Matoi)
Monty Posted April 19, 2017 The creature is a Tanuki. They're a funny bunch. It's amusing to see the well-endowed Manami with one, given that they're also typically well-endowed in...other areas. What I meant is I don't really like making myself stand out too much and giant dolls tend to do that. I guess somewhere far away enough from where I live wouldn't be too bad because then you're just a tourist and no one cares, but it's a little different when you live here and people in your town mostly recognize you. I'm already weird just for being a foreigner so I don't wanna give even more reasons to find me weird lol. Not that I think you doing it is a bad thing, I actually admire your courage, I just don't like standing out like I said. (I did take Rin to Huistenbosch in Nagasaki though but hey that's far away enough and the place is already pretty wacky). But a lot of it is due to the fact that my mother/older sister have a history of being hugely critical of my hobbies which kinda gives me a complex about em. Mostly I asked if anyone was there cos I was curious what they'd think, not cos I thought they'd be angry or offended. *twitter*instagram*art*
amarilian Posted April 19, 2017 (edited) Billy Isn't that the shrine just up the road from dolks Tokyo? Edited April 20, 2017 by Guest These are the dolls you're looking for, no you cannot haz them they r mine:)

The soft colors bring out her eyes and the colors in her faceup, and she looks like she's come straight out of an illustration with the cuteness of the outfit. Thanks so much! I really appreciate the compliments on her and the outfit! Lol, Lawsons Organic sounds like the Whole Foods of conbinis :p Ha! That's exactly what I thought too! The building with the lanterns and traditional decorations on the modern architecture is interesting. I'm not sure that it quite works, but it's definitely more memorable than the standard concrete block it'd be without the decorations. I agree.... I wasn't exactly sure what the building was as we didn't go up close to check it out, but it certainly looked cool. I'm all about some cool architecture so I take pics of anything that stands out like that one. The advertisements on the train look so pretty. It's quite different from the ones I've seen in Boston trains (or trains in the Hague for that matter). Oh yeah, train ads were either super pretty and stylish or super wacky. I'm supposing it's to grab the customers eye quickly while on the train. There were even entire train cars decorated wit one theme or sale item. I know we were on several of those..... one was for a new "Girls Und Panzer" animated movie coming out, another was for the newest "Monster Hunter" game and another was all ads for something that looked like "Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure" but I didn't see any names in romanji or English. I'm...very curious to know what the creature in the last photo is. xD As stated by Torino: The creature is a Tanuki. They're a funny bunch. It's amusing to see the well-endowed Manami with one, given that they're also typically well-endowed in...other areas. What he means is that Tanuki are known for their super stretchy and elastic scrotums. Yep, you read that right. There's even a Ghibli movie that shows Tanuki pulling them up and around to use as gliders. Seriously, it's hilarious. Tanuki generally look like large raccoons but can take human form to make mischief. The creature is a Tanuki. They're a funny bunch. It's amusing to see the well-endowed Manami with one, given that they're also typically well-endowed in...other areas. Yup! I find them hilarious and quite fun. That's also funny about both the Tanuki and Manami being well endowed, just in different areas. What I meant is I don't really like making myself stand out too much and giant dolls tend to do that. I guess somewhere far away enough from where I live wouldn't be too bad because then you're just a tourist and no one cares, but it's a little different when you live here and people in your town mostly recognize you. Mostly I asked if anyone was there cos I was curious what they'd think, not cos I thought they'd be angry or offended. Ahh okay, I see. I can understand that but for me, I gave up giving a crap about what anyone else thinks of me or my hobbies. It used to really bug me when I went out and people would point and stare and such but I found that when I really thought about it.... would I ever see these people again? Probably not. Do their thoughts have any effect on me? Nope. Do I care what they think or what they have to say about me and my girls when they have no idea who I am or what the girls are? Definitely not. I'm sure most people that laugh at me or think I'm a freak would poop kittens when they found out my collection of girls and their clothing are worth more than the house they live in or the nice car they drive. I know everyone can't do like me and just not care but give yourself more credit.... I'm sure you could do more outdoor things with them if you tried small steps over time. As for standing out in a crowd..... there's no way for me to NOT do that. I'm tall, have a ghoatee and shave my head. I stick out no matter where I go.... especially in Japan. LOL But due to that, I got to be on Japanese TV and share our girls with Tokyo! So I'm fine with sticking out and being different, it's what makes me me. Billy Isn't that the shrine just up the road from dolks Tokyo? Yes it is! Nice eye! We were staying in an apartment just down the same street that the shrine is on for our trip so it made it easy to walk there. We also went to Dolk and were amazed we were so close to it! Billy I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.
