SisterKyoya Posted April 20, 2017 While in the garden this afternoon I had a few of the kiddos wander outside as well. I was working on digging out some garden beds so it was nice to have company. As usual, it is far from normal around here. Bree: "Dis rock. Das NUMMY!" Sohi: *digs in the yard for another rock* Bree: *shoves the rock in her mouth* Sohi: *pulls off more spiny leaves from the Oregon grape bush* Mommy: *wanders across the yard looking for something and notices the girls* "Bree, what did you just put in your mouth?" Bree: *mumbles around the rock* "Way-dee!" Sohi: *looks rather startled* Mommy: "Spit it out Bree." Bree: *spits out the rock* "Plooah!" Sohi: *munches a leaf* "I don't see what the big deal is." *munch, munch, munch* "People suck on peanut shells. Those came out of the ground." Mommy: *frustrated* "Sohi you cannot let your little sister eat rocks!" Sohi: "She doesn't swallow it, just sucks on it." *munch, munch, munch* Mommy: "Don't let her even do that. We don't need a trip to the emergency room any time soon. You are supposed to be taking care of her. It was bad enough she kept eating the dry cat food last week! And stop eating random leaves!" Sohi: *munches the leaf* "It's crunchy. Like a potato chip." *munch, munch, munch* Mommy: "I don't want you getting sick, or hurt. The whole edge is covered in spines. I don't even know if those are poisonous. I know you are more than a little strange Sohi, but this is really pushing it." *continues mildly ranting while wandering back to the previously abandoned task* "What is wrong with you children?" Sohi: *mumbles* "I still don't see what the big deal is. We eat stuff like this all the time." *munch, munch* Bree: *drops the rock into the grass* "Lady. Das icky rock." Sohi: "Here Bree, you can have another one." Bree: "Nodder one! PEASE!" A little while later Bree runs up to me Bree: "Lady! Dis mine fower!" *giggles excitedly before running off* With the back yard covered in multiple dandelions, there was enough for her to pick a pile big enough to get buried in. Just a few wouldn't hurt anything. Gizella: "Mah-dee! Hey Maddy! I found some day old roots." Bree: *talking to herself in the background* "Mad! Mad! Mad!" Gizella: "All wilted and everything. Looks really gross. It's making my stomach growl. How much do you want?" Madison: *hollers from another part of the yard* "Just bring it all. And we need dirt too. Have you seen any twigs?" Gizella: "Hmmm. I think I saw some after the lilac bush got the dead branches trimmed off." Bree: *tosses in all her dandelions* Bree: *squeals in delight* Gizella: "Ewww! Why did you have to put those in there? They are so tasty! I hated it every time we had to eat them." In her peculiar way, Gizella continued her habit of using descriptive words that meant exactly the opposite of what she says. Bree: *giggles* "Bye by fower! Nom nom eat 'em up! Sank yoo!" *blows a kiss to the pile of flowers* Gizella: "Maddy! Bree just shoved a bunch of those yellow flowers on top of the roots! I can't eat those because..." *thinks for a moment* "I'm allergic!" Madison: "Her name isn't Bree! And you have never been allergic to anything in your life. You just don't like them. If you eat them, they will help keep your hair green." Gizella: *mumbles* "No it doesn't, it just makes the rest of me green..." Madison: "Nope, not that one either." *tosses a rock over his shoulder* Madison: "This one looks like it might be good..." Madison: "About the right size, and those speckles will give some good flavor..." Mommy: "Don't tell me you are trying to eat rocks too?!?" Madison: "No, they are for stew." Mommy: *monotone* "What?" Madison: "Sticks and stone stew. Our real mother, what do you commoners call it, our genetic mother? She cooked it often when we were children." Mommy: "So this is some game?" Madison: "No. It's for lunch. I think I'll add the rotten onion from the compost pile..." Mommy: "Stay out of the compost pile! Have all of you gone bonkers today? What is wrong with you?!? There is perfectly good food in the house. If you need lunch, eat something from there, not stuff that will make you sick from the yard!" Madison: *voice stiffens as he grips the rocks in his hands* "I am not crazy." Madison: *mutters not very quietly to himself* "Out of all the places in this world, why are we trapped in this backwater hovel?" Mommy: "Excuse me young man?" Madison: "Did that witchy daughter of yours ever figure 'Bree' out?" Mommy: "Naiomi? If she did, I figured she got too busy to tell me-" Madison: *snorts a nasty laugh* "Here I thought you were trying to collect a menagerie of oddities and freaks. Snow fairies, garden fairies, that shifty apple girl, a witch, shadow people, that musician girl, an infestation of Lilliputians, a puny little werewolf, other monsters, whatever Yuki's little friend is, a vampire..." Mommy: "What is your point, sir?" Madison: "Did you ever wonder why our hair is far from mundane, even compared to most around here? And our eyes as well? We are not human. Even a simpleton could piece that much together. We are half goblin. Our father is human and our mother is goblin." Mommy: *whispers* "Well now I know where your nasty attitude came from." Madison: "We do eat this kind of thing. I would request that until we can find a way to return home that you let my siblings and I eat as we are accustomed." Mommy: *sarcastically* "Yes, your highness." *rolls eyes before heading back to digging* Madison: "Good. At least that much you recognize." Mommy: *surprised* "What?" Madison: *ignores any further conversation* "Gizzy! I need you to get some of that moss from over there too." Gizella: "Okay!" Madison: "Could you find an old can to cook this all in? If you find one, fill it with pond water." Madison: "Don't worry about rocks, we have plenty over here!" ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
sinclair Posted April 20, 2017 So, how much work did you get done with them keeping you on your toes like that. And rock soup is a thing actually. Also a good kids book.
katnaper Posted April 23, 2017 Nasties... LOL. Now we know why Mad is Mad. The Goblin bit will get you every time. He is awfully pretty for a goblin prince though. I wouldn't be surprised if his looks are inversely related to his attitude. Bree is so cute though. Love that photo of hers with the flowers. Sohi and Gizella are lovely as always. We have our own BLOG. Please visit us at the House of Nyan by clicking this link or our sig above. See you there. Or, come see what Nyanko-sensei is up to at the Katnaper's Den
SisterKyoya Posted April 23, 2017 Sinclair- That day I didn't get much done because I got the pics as I was trying to beat the rain. I had been planning on working more on digging out the garden beds, but the kiddos had me running all over the place instead. One of the nice things with the Sohi and Bree pics was that it was cloudy enough at that point that I didn't have to stay within the shadow of the house. The soup thing was a bit of a story idea I thought about writing once in my fantasy world. Basically it was about a (full) goblin mom trying to make dinner and the kids getting in the way. More than one of them was whacked with her wooden spoon, and at one point the kids get into a brawl. The pot of 'stew' she was making had all sorts of disgusting things in it, but it started with sticks, rocks, and pond sbleep. Katnaper- Ugh... Madison is still really difficult. Things have gotten better once I decided to take the nastiest parts of his personality and dump them into Lennador, but even so, he's still Madison. He keeps up the pretty boy side most of the time, but his armor is far from perfect. He still finds most everything around here to be strange, often making stupid or snide comments. There is even a story bit I've been waiting to write where he says something under his breath and Dakota hears it. He nearly gets his face rearranged. This was not really how I had planned on revealing the siblings. Because of that I'm afraid the impact falls a bit short. But it was either do it then and get pics, or it would get pushed off even longer. There is still so much I want to do, yet I'm having to force myself to do things as they happen. One of the reasons I would have put it off is Gizella is on the wrong body. She had been a DDS but then we needed that for Azalea and the only one we had extra was a DD. Completely in the wrong direction since I'm waiting for her DDP body. I had to try hard to make her look smaller, but by comparison I think it will always look weird. There is a lot of complicated family dynamics with these four, some of this is caused by Maddy's unstable mind. He's the reason why Sohi (2nd oldest) is so heavily protective of Bree. Normally Sohi is quiet, but if I try and have her sit within 2 feet of Madison, she makes the loudest, biggest complaining stink possible. I really love that pic of Bree. It seemed to be her version of this pic of Tama. She is just a lot more exuberant. I keep cracking up inside about her braids. They are just too cute. I need to try and remember to get a pic of the back of her head because it clearly shows the pink stripes in her hair. Suddenly it occurred to me that my Strawberry Shortcake dolls (from the 80s) would see Madison as a relative of the Purple Pie Man. Strawberry: "Oh no! This is another berry bad and dastardly plan by the Mad White Mulberry!" LOL! I just might have to do that just to piss Madison off. And that pile of rocks? Just the beginning of the rocks we are sorting out of the dirt for the garden beds I'm trying to dig up. And they aren't even remotely the biggest. ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
