Saber's 1st Photoshoot

This morning we were up bight and early at a local park for some family photos. My parents have been nagging me for a recent one to put on their wall. So I brought Saber with me so that one the photographer was done with my family and the kids were off playing on the playground I could take Saber out and shoot some photos. This was the 1st time I took any of my girls out in such a public place alone. It was a bit nerve racking at first, but the park was mostly quiet so I wasn't bothered. And I stayed away from the main paths, so I was mostly away from people.

Very nice photo set. Agreed, location shoots can be quite unnerving, especially when you and your girl(s) are alone. But the results (as shown here) can be well worth while.

Thanks all. I really need to work on post processing as the lens has a tendency to wash out colors in bight light. But I'm impatient and wanted to share. As for the dress, I got it from Volks. Here is the link. The shoes are these. The tights are the ones that came with her (Santa Alter). When I knew I had won Saber in the lottery, I just had to get this dress. It just seemed like it was her, and I was right. Her she is now in a maid outfit.

 

 

Still cute, but just doesn't have the same fitting feel as the other outfit does. I have a feeling Saber will spend most of her life in that brown outfit as it's the most fitting for a refined lady like herself.

I love the photograph with Saber on the train tracks, and her outfit, too. It suits her very well.

Especially since rotating the knees outwards like that is really bad (both for real humans, and popping out doll's joint a bit outta place)

 

If she's sitting up on something (chair, fence, tree) try to keep her legs together, maybe do a delicate ankle cross

 

Making the legs tilt a bit more always reminds me of older advertisements, where the girl with perfect makeup & hair is selling .... cigarettes or something ridiculous

As Illya demonstrates, don't be afraid to slightly rotate the torso opposite direction of knees

 

 

 

On the ground, the angling outward of legs helps. If you don't want to bend her knees so much, prop something under her butt for her to sit on (half the time i use my wallet or DS, u can cover it by her skirt if it bugs you!)

 

and if you want Saber to still be ladylike but a bit more of rebellious streak, bend just one knee to cross it over the other leg at a higher angle

 

 

Sorry, not tryin to hijack your thread, just few legs posing tips ^^;; base-III is so good with poses showing off the girl's character more!

I have no problem receiving posing advice. All my dolls sit like it have in that last photo because I like the look. Here's Miku doing it.

 

 

As you can see I don't have their knees together, that's just hard to see in Saber's photo as her skirt is so long it covers them. But now that you pointed it out, it doesn't seem to fit Saber as she is more refined then my other girls. It's fits Miku, so she'll keep doing it, but Saber will do more of the knees and feet together.

I so blame anime for that weird sitting pose!

 

Someone thought it was moe and started drawing it, and now we all keep copying it! (just like the terrible overly swiveled waist in "genki" poses where in real life that'd be cause for busted spine)

Actually, this is exactly how *I* sit. I can't do the typical "indian squat" seated position with my legs folded and knees pointed outward because my knees don't bend that way correctly. I can sit seiza for a little while but again, my knees hurt after about 10 minutes. It's been an issue for me since I can remember so in order to be more comfy when sitting on the floor, I always sat exactly like that. I used to be able to scoot across the floor easily like that too.

 

So seeing the DD girls posed this way actually makes me very happy!
