But back on topic, I still have yet to play the game. Played the demo several times. It's just the difficulty level is what puts me off from getting the whole game. I understand some people really like hard and complex games, but I don't. But I do love 2B's outfit. If someone doesn't want it I'll take it, but unless her head is blow me out of the park wow I'll be passing on the whole doll.

 

Play is on easy mode. It will play the game for you, really. Like.... really. Easy mode gets you through the story with little to no frustration.

The other main points are

A) it takes a year or so before the dolls ship, but

B) you don’t pay until they do, which means you have a year to save.

Whether those two things stay the same or not is what I’m eager to find out.

 

I really, really hope so.

 

To my horror and absolute delight, I won Kaede Takagaki from the lottery and I honestly wasn't expecting to. I was so torn whether I should buy her after they announced that 2B and 9S would be up for grabs as pre-order next month. If it gives me a year (or heck, even 2) I can somehow have all 3. And it's worse since they didn't unveil 2B and 9S' faces yet and it would be about a few days for Kaede deadline for payment for when pictures of 2B and 9S would start popping up after the Nier concert. I've played through Automata and am a fan of the Nier game series, also played Drakengard when I was really, really little, so I estimate that even if their faces turn out to be butt ugly I'll still want to bring them home ( I can take 2B or 9S with me when I cosplay 2B again! )

Heh. I always kinda figured it was the opposite. She looks good to me but I never saw the show or read the manga so she's just kind of peripheral to me. I suspected it was the megafans who watched the show growing up and having their own vision for what a DD should look like who were disappointed.

I think for Sailor Moon it was that the doll leans more towards the new anime design, which is based on the original manga design. The character designs of the original anime are a lot different and I dont think its a stretch to say more Sailor Moon fans prefer the original designs a lot more. I dont think the doll quite captures either design well but certainly not the original so I assume thats why it was not received as well as one would probably image. I hope they do Sailor Mars or Venus still though id like to see their shot.

Light weight plastic swords can be made with brilliant polished metal like finishes. It just depends on if Volks wants to spend the money on that or not.

If I decide to get her I'm so gonna split her default fullset, no need for wig, outfit and sword. Not sure about the body yet, will have to see what type it is.

I would think she'll be regular full-size DD-f3. She definitely shouldn't be DDdy and I wouldn't think DDS.

According to the countdown I put on my phone for this purpose because I -definitely- have a life, the orchestra venue opens in 3 and a half hours. Not sure if the dolls will be right there to photograph at open time (all I know is that the venue opens an hour before the concert starts which made me wonder if there was stuff to photograph/look at/but from various companies there) but...I’m excited ;-;

The scale of that image makes them look like DDS, but the poster says Dollfie Dream, so it's probably the DD-F3 Body. If 2B is F3 then that means there will be a likely be a DD-F3 Boy body along with 9S come next year.

Both of the pictures of 2B so far make me think she looks slightly stocky, but it's just because the art and in-game design is more stylized so the arms and legs are elongated and thin. The pic from the OP:

Usually they open the doors early just to give time for people to get in and there's often a goods corner of some sort. The GuP concert I went to had gatchas, CDs, pamphlets etc as well as displays of all the flowers that were sent to the Seiyuu and Singers. Last point not as relevant here of course.

 

I'm going to the evening concert so there will likely be plenty of photos out before I see them. Gonna try and hold out and not look at them though.

 

Seems the VS/VIP pamphlet will be distributed at the concert too.

The last two pre-order projects have started shipping in October a year after the pre-orders were placed, but the idolm@ster dolls in 2017 got split into two groups because of the number of orders they received. One batch shipped in October and one in November if memory serves me.

 

If that happens this time, and there is a good chance it will given that this is a popular property, the best way to get into the first batch is pre-order on October 20th (Oct 19th in the US.)

 

They will release a schedule when the special site is fully up, but unless something has changed in their production line expect that these will start to ship in October 2019.

 

Edit: One other note. If you are in North America and order through Volks USA you will probably be asked to pay around October 2019, but shipment is usually around 2 months afterwards. They ship the dolls from Japan to Volks USA, Volks USA inspects them for quality, and then ships them to you by whatever method you choose.

So 2B is something closer to a SD sculpt it seems, with a more realistic nose that looks like has actual nostrils?

Gonna need to see more of 9S' face before making a final call, but I am loving the details on his outfit at least. Even if it's a stain problem, it is really nice looking. I'm gonna be on the edge of my seat wating for more pictures and more angles and seeing what his eyes look like.

I have nothing really to contribute to this discussion other than:

 

1. I screamed IRL

2. I'm so sold (not like I wasn't already)

3. I'm freaking out

and 4. Thank you Volks for making them look good. I mean, the pictures make them look a little.... off. But I'm 99% sure it's the harsh lighting. Can't WAIT to see owner pictures. I wonder if those gloves are gloves or if they're painted hands?

 

They DO look like SD sculpts! I hope they show the face, but I also kind of want it to be a surprise when I open the box too :3

 

Side note: It'd be reallllllly cool if 9S came with an extra pair of red eyes heheh.

Yeah, I can tell 2B is beautiful even without seeing her full face. I'm going to use restraint and not order the doll even though I suspect she will be gorgeous. You can already tell her nose and mouth are much more like a SD than a DD.

 

I do want that sword, but it looks like she is an L-shapely so her outfit is out of the question for my Ranko.

 

The sword fittings definitely look like what you see on tachi from the Kotō period, but the blade looks far too straight; at least from that angle.

 

It would be nice to see her face. Hopefully they will post images of those when the full site goes live.

That pic appears to say, on the placard, that 2B is DDdy. I didn't expect that.

 

Edit: And if she is, is this a special bust? Doesn't look large enough, or "out there" enough, for DDdy.
