Nier Automata x Dollfie Dream

Agreed! While I am not planning to get two of the same doll for this purpose (...just both of them), one of the big selling points is that I can see puting her in casual outfits. 2B has such an attitude, I am already thinking of all the punk-ish outfits I want her to wear.

 

Volks seems to have released a number of punkish outfits for boys in their black label collection. They have some for girls too, but not as many.

9S is on the DDBoy body, rather than the DDSBoy, right? I thought that the DD Boy was slightly taller than the normal DD, but he looks about the same height as her (not counting her heels, at least).

I think the DD and DDBoy are the same size. If DDS is anything to compare, my DDS Rin and DDSBoy Len are the same height. 9S is definately not a DDS because the height difference between Miku and Len is quite noticeable when they are side by side, especially when Miku is wearing heels.

DD boy is only like. . . 1-2 cm taller than a regular DD. It's a really subtle difference, so since she's got heels, even if he's on DDboy that'd even it up.

 

I really do like the DDBoy body, I just don't currently have a use for a second one.

Exactly how I feel! I miiigiht want 9S's head, but I can hardly call it from just ONE shot from a weird angle.

 

I really hope that 1. the website pages include more no-mask shots and 2. they display the dolls at least once without the masks on. Because I really really need to see them no-mask.

Personally, I cringe to think of how expensive the Nier dolls would be in SD form. The SD line tends to be pricier than vinyl, I guess just because the resin itself is more expensive, so with all these accessories, if they were SDs the price would probably be at least $300 more for the exact same set.

 

i agree, i think they would have been a lot more money if they were SD... so i am happy that 2B is part of the DD line, so she can cost me a bit less money

i think that volks has always made anime characters for their DDs, so many of the dolls have anime features. i think they do this so that the dolls look like the characters in their original creative forms.

 

i don't know a lot about persona, but i do know that all of the artwork i have seen of rise... looks a lot like her DD version. so i feel like 2B looks a lot like 2B in the game, and i think that is volks' goal?

 

i don't know if DD is supposed to be an anime style doll company. i always felt like that was the characters they chose to make, so that is why the dolls look that way. but then there is rise, kosmos, and even their own character of alna looks different from the other dolls (in my opinion )

 

when i saw 2B, i felt that they made her look like 2B... and i was expecting her to resemble her video game form before i saw her, and she does. however i do feel like her larger eyes fit more with the DD typical aesthetics. so i think they added their own style to her.

 

i am sorry that people are upset or don't like her. i am sure it must have been disappointing to wait so long for her to be announced, and then she was not what you thought she would be in your head. however, as i said, i do think she looks very much like her actual character... so i don't feel like her design is unreasonable or anything.

 

i felt this disappointment when they released sailor moon. she is anime styled, but she looks nothing like sailor moon to me. i feel with some modding and maybe new face... she could. i was extremely sad and let down. so i am empathizing with anyone who is not happy with how 2B looks. i understand how it feels to wait and have something not be what you hoped.

 

i also feel like some of the responses here have been very aggressive, and if people are going to continue to talk about volks, DD, and SD... there should be less of that.

i can't decide if i want 2 2B or just 1. i've never had twin or duplicate dolls before. it would be nice to have 1 be in her canon outfit, and 1 be a casual girl though when i saw her face, i just couldn't stop imagining her in all of my pretty outfits

I'm so stoked about 2B and 9S that I'm not getting enough sleep at night and I don't care. I can't wait to see more pictures of their faces in different angles and etc. >_<

 

I wish there was A2 also but I guess since 2B and A2 have the same face all you've got to do is get a second 2B and get a long haired wig on her. A2's outfit should be relatively simple to make too. Maybe it's the body type that'll just be different because A2's model is less curvier than 2B.

I sadly had to pass on Takagaki Kaede for this but in the end I had to weigh whether I loved Idolmasters or Nier more and chose Nier in the end. :< As much as I want to, I don't think I'll be able to get a second for A2 so I'll just live vicariously through you guys planning to.

I’m also curious if any of the planned displays will include them without the ‘goggles’. Although that would mean displaying 4 dolls.

At any rate, I asked my Fu kuoka friends to please take lots of photos when the dolls are on display from October 20th. While I’m sure there will be plenty of twitter photos from other store displays shared here, I almost never see ones from Fu kuoka which is a shame because the Fu kuoka store is undoubtedly the best one for photos of preorder dolls. Unlike most other stores, the dolls are out in the open as opposed to in a glass case so for the last two preorders I was able to get in nice and close. If none of the displays are planned to be bare-faced, then quite often there are photos posted on the DD blog that aren’t posted elsewhere so hopefully they will do some feature about their maskless faces during the preorder period. After all the resin eyes are a pretty big deal so they’ll want to show those off more.

I would have love more realistic faces like in game design, but I think 2B face have features of the beautiful artworks, where her face is more round, so it's totally fine with me ♡ It's like a mix of the artworks, the game design and Volks aesthetic. I can't wait to see better photos of their faces !

She's definitely wearing tights, but it's impossible to tell if they are stitched into the leotard. I am guess no though. The leotard looks to be little more than a thong, but that's in keeping with the images I have seen of the character.

The listing for what she comes with in the brochure implies the tights are separate but we won't really know until Volks has one of the pics of the outfit when they put the doll details up.

 

Something else strikes me from the pictures there, that someone here I know has already mentioned. Maybe it's just the outfit being black obscures shadows and outlines, but that bust doesn't really look as large as the existing DDdy shapely bust. Since it is different (being "flat") maybe it is actually a different (smaller) size as well? It'd be cool as it'd better match the character, and unlike Yoko's special body parts these days most anything Volks does special for a character later becomes a standard option part.

I haven't seen one in person either but I have studied numerous pictures because I was trying to decide if I wanted that body for anything (my conclusion was no).

 

SQEX might well have made that requirement. Practically speaking, I think the holes in the front of the outfit might have shown us things they shouldn't had they not done this too.

Probably not the smallest ones just because of the huge hip size on DDdy would be an overall odd look. But something smaller and/or with a more normal shape than the current options would certainly make sense and there'd be some market for it given how people modify the DDIII busts to work on DDdy.

So far I really like the look of both of them and am hoping I'll be able to put down a deposit in November.

I'll also be able to see them in person in October which is exciting! I'm only going to Akiba so my pics may be rubbish but I'll try my best!

You're probably right. If it was a different size Volks would most likely call it something else.

 

I've also seen very few pictures of the DDdy shapely bust, most everything I've seen is the standard one.

 

I just don't like the DDdy proportions at all; the huge thighs don't look right to me either mainly because the lower legs are no different than DDIII. It wouldn't keep me from buying a limited that I liked otherwise (though I might end up chaning the body), but it's not a body I'd choose otherwise. It took me a while to come to this conclusion as I originally thought I'd get one for the variety.

2B is 88000, 9S is 78000 - both before tax. (Japan tax is 8%, so they're more like 2B 95040, 9S 84240.

 

I would welcome any and all photos, it eases the pain of the wait lol. Even if they look exactly the same as ones I've seen already I will still stare at them intently. hey guys only 374 more days until October 2019!
