Holy crap I really want her now. 1/3 scale POD Not really liking the look of the skin textured stocking though. I hope that is an optional thing and not part of the black stockings. Both outfits also look like dust magnets.

I was happy to get the e-mail from Volks USA that they would also be taking pre-orders. Once both sites go live I'll have to decide which will be better for me to pre-order from. I think for me it'll boil down to how much the deposit will be as I will go with the lower one But I do love doing pre-orders with Volks USA since I can drive to their office, inspect the doll with the staff, then be on my merry way~

This will undoubtably be my first limited doll ever. In fact, I just registered on the forums here so I could contribute...

 

As a brief introduction, I've been collecting BJD for 10+years, got my first DD last year, and myself and Gryfeathr have a podcast called NingyoBINGO. Why I mention this is that Gryfeathr and myself dug through the Japanese on the pamphlet. I couldn't have done it without her... Volk's polite Japanese makes it very hard to use basic Japanese language skills to translate.

 

The large phrase above 2B is somewhat poetic: "The sword's quiet purpose." Rougly.

The phrase above 9S is similarly poetic: "The empty kindness of a soul." Once again, roughly. It's rather poetic, so a direct English translation is hard.

 

Most of the stuff has already been mentioned here: Semi white skin and F^3 internal frames. Resin unique eyes. This marks Volk's first resin eyes ever, I believe. Unique wigs and heads, as to be expected by any DD Limited.

 

Very cool to note, the pamphlet says the Pods will have a little "posing". So they won't be static figures. How much posing is yet to be seen...

 

Okay, but here's the fun part: a complete listing of everything that is included. Parts in [] Are additional translator notes.

 

2B's Set Includes: Main Doll, Wig, Hair Band, Combat Goggles, Top, Skirt, Arm Covers, Shorts, Body Tights, Socks, Boots, Glove Parts [The Sculpted Black Hands], Wrist Frame (Black), Katana (Virtuous Contract)[it had a different name in the Japanese Game, but this was the name used in the US release.], Katana's Tassel, Pod 042, Pod Stand.

 

9S's Set Includes: Main Doll, Wig, Combat Goggles, Chocker, Jacket, Pants, Hands Attached to Gloves, Wrist Frame (Black), Body Tights, Socks, Body Pack [His Bag/Sachel], Boots, Pod 153, Pod Stand.

 

Gryfeathr also mentioned there was a section talking about how 9S's hands work. I think the gist of it is that the gloves are sort of super tight against the hands, and not really meant to be removed. So while they look like they can be, they shouldn't, and care should be taken with them as not to damage them.

 

Once we get some better pictures of the fine print, we can also take a swing at translating that. It's a bit too small and blurry in most of the pictures I have so far. But I believe it was already mentioned that the fine print said they would come with normal hands. DD-H-01B is mentioned underneath 9S's fine print, and DD-H-01 is mentioned under 2B's.

Opinion wise... yeah they leaned in hard with the sexy selling to the male audience 2B angle, and landed on the DDdy. If they had made a bust more becoming of her -actually published bust size- of 84cm/33", I wouldn't even be having any doubts about this purchase whatsoever. The bust does match the concept art though, just not the in-game model. That being said, pricey and the long wait aside, I can buy her and see. I've been saving since last year for her, and if VolksUSA does the down payment option, I can probably afford her AND 9S before October 2019. If I don't like them... I'm sure there will be many takers, for both outfits, modification, and the heads... I might just keep the Pods if they're that super cool though.

That's too bad since that means those will have to purchased separately if you aren't going to display them in their full default 24/7. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice for the people who may be first time buyers of DDs getting these two. Thankfully I have a spare set I'm not using that can go to 2B.

 

I am happy that the bust she's coming with will be the flat-version. Plus black is slimming so when pictures first came out I didn't even notice that she had a DDdy bust. One could always modify a DDIII SWS large bust to put on the body. Not ideal for those who don't like having to buy extra pieces and mod pieces, but it is an option

Volks USA has usually offered a $250 deposit option, and a full pre-payment option. While we can't know for certain what the terms will be until they publish them, the deposit is pretty likely.

 

It is possible to mod a DD bust onto a DDDy, so it should be possible to give her a different bust. Even if you used an DD L bust it's probably going to impact the fit of her outfit. You might have to have it tailored. The big problem with shapely busts is the gravity defying nature of the bust seems to carry over into the cut of the outfit.

 

It's kind of like with Jeanne, I kind of doubt you could even swap her to a normal L bust and have even the cloth parts of her full-set fit her.

Would they even specifically call out the base body part that would normally be included with the doll? I would expect them to call out the black wrist part, because those aren't a standard part of the F3 base body. Normal hands are called out so that you know exactly which type of normal hands are included, not because you need to know that the doll comes with hands in the first place

Volks Japan asked for ¥10,800 last year. I don't recall how much they are asking this year, but I think it was about the same. It's somewhere in this thread.

Thank you so much for the translation! I'm really excited for these dolls. It's funny, I first of Nier Automata when you mentioned it on your podcast, so I had to find out what you were so excited about, and looked into the game. I got addicted, and now I'm so excited to get these dolls!!

Normally, SWS wrists (and default SWS hands) are included with the "Main Doll" as part of the doll. I bet the black wrists are an additional set of wrists -- so 2B will come with two sets of wrist parts, one in SWS and one in black.

 

Consider Sailor Moon. She was listed as coming with "Option Hand Parts (Right / Left): Gripping Hands / Option Hand Parts (Large Ver.): Idol-Love Hand (Left Hand), Pointing Hand (Right Hand), Scissors-Peace Hand (Right Hand)"

 

Her list of parts did NOT include regular default hands -- but she came with those, too! They're just included in "Main Doll" and not individually listed out. I'm certain 2B is the same way.

You're welcome. I forgot about this, but they call out the model of hands in the fine print below the dolls specification.

 

Makoto Kikuchi is listed as coming with DD-H-07, and Saber Altria comes with DD-H-08. Odds are when the special site goes up there will be a bullet point under her specs calling out the model of SW hands. I would hazard a guess they would be gripping hands like Altria or sword holding hands DDII-H-06, but you never know.

The display at Volks today was again with blindfolds only, no displays with their face shown. The face part was unfortunate but they were not in a case this time which means there should be some good videos and close ups. Mine sadly ended up pretty bad due to the lighting in Volks and my old phone..

Photos from display at Doll Point Akihabara. I took some videos too but there are many peoples' faces clearly visible in the background and it's impolite to post without censoring them. I got what details I thought important.

 

Interesting detail: According to the Volks person, the stocking that 2B is wearing is a special full-body stocking that covers everything except her boob window. They've really gone all-out.

Thanks for the great pics Wayfinder.

It must be frustrating to have them physically there but not be able to reach out and remove the blindfold. I saw that two of the comments on the official volks post about the DollPoint display asked for them to please be shown without blindfolds when display ones show up in the other stores after the 20th, but I'm not really sure if they will or not...

It's good to see that 2B's black hand seems to have leathery texture on it so it looks like a glove, rather than just being a regular hand but black.

The pods are seriously impressive too!

The more I see them, the more love grows! Can't wait to get her!

Although it is really frustrating not to be able to see the faces, yet!!

From the descriptions 9S comes with a bodysuit as well. Are they showing him without his, or is it special as well where it isn't visible at all?

 

Looking at these pictures, I now realize the main reason I felt 2B's bust wasn't large enough for the standard DDdy size. Her head looks huge making her entire body look small. It's not the head size per se, it's her wig has a definite "big hair" effect.

 

Because I am not a fan of the SD-style face sculpts, I find that I think she looks awesome masked, but don't like her without the mask.

 

The level of details is amazing, I love everything, outfits and accessories looks beautiful! Thanks for the photos!

Wayfinder has brilliant detail shots. I found I had a few from other angles. 2B's nose is really perfection haha.

 

I really do hope volks put a good amount of effort choosing the correct fabrics and dyes for these all black clothes. I always fear the black, which is why I have nearly no dark colored outfits for my girls.

 

Can't wait to get 2B and steal her clothes to put on Alsty, my girl would look so cool. God, I feel the same way with Saber. Purchasing all these dolls simply to give to my main girl
