Found some pics on Twitter without the blindfold for 2B:

 

Not sure what I think at this stage, it's a very different DD look for sure. Will be looking forward to seeing them in person once at Dollpoint.

Style is growing on me very quick! Normal DD wouldn't have fit the game so they really seemed to put a lot of work into this hybrid style face.

Before you do that, you'd have to record some voices from the game, put the voice files onto a memory card, and then install the Custom version of the Sakurahonya sound system in his head.

Finally! His face definitely looks different than I expected, but it works for him. It's funny how different he looks compared to in-game though, but in a good way. That artstyle got kinda uncanny for me at times and this keeps a cuter look for 9S, I think Though I still have to see it in person, I'm actually not super fond of his wig. But it's an easy swap out, at least.

 

Now the search begins for the perfect shape of glasses for him...

Some more 9S pics. I'm really digging how much their expressions change from different angles.

In these pics from Fu kuoka, you can see how he has a slight smile when viewed from below, and looks more gentle. That may be my favourite angle.

 

In these pics from Sendai (as well as the other ones I already posted), you can see how he looks more mature and serious when viewed from a higher angle.

 

EDIT- I do think they'd look better with the eyes positioned slightly more upwards though. They seemed to be positioned like that in the pamphlet, but the samples seem to be looking straight ahead. The slight upwards glance looks more natural and charming to me with doll eyes, especially those with a more realistic style.

I've been thinking about this. I'm often critical here of DDs where I don't feel Volks captured the character design--Luka and Kaede recently.

 

While SD-style faces just aren't my thing, I can also see that here Volks did a really incredible job of combining the essence of these characters with a doll aesthetic. I look at 2B's face close up and I don't like it, but I look at the overall doll like this picture from your twitter link:

So while these aren't for me, I'm really pleased Volks made something beautiful that's hopefully going to make a lot of you very happy.

In those photos the angle of the photograph may be distorting the faces a bit. Tilting the film-plane causes a perspective effect, and I think that may be why the face look a bit off in the closeups with extreme angles, but looks better in this one.

 

Wow, not what I was expecting. It's really hard to describe what I'm thinking/feeling. I like it, but I don't. Over all I like the sculpt, but don't like how the faceup around the eyes is, nor do I like "beauty" marks. But to me her head is just screaming future MDD in the last photo here. I can't wait to see how she is customized.

This is certainly true, and is especially so if the pictures were taken with phone cameras, which, for reasons I'll never understand, have wide-angle lenses so you get a real distorted perspective in closeups.

 

In this case that's not really the source of my opinion though. In closeups, you see the full SD-ness of the face sculpt, and that's a style that just isn't to my tastes. But looking at the doll as a whole, and in that way also being less fixated on the details, the look is more appealing for me.

 

I feel mostly the same way about Belldandy and Creamy Mami. I like the look of the dolls overall and think they're a good representation of the characters, but when I really look at their faces I find I don't really like them much. It's nothing wrong with them; the SD aesthetic just isn't generally to my taste.

That was pretty much my reaction last night, and I had to think about it a while to sort out how I felt.

 

She wouldn't be 2B without the beauty mark. It's probably far enough away from her mouth that you could have it removed without otherwise damaging the faceup if you wanted to keep the rest.

 

Repaints will be interesting to see as I'm sure some people will give them full BJD/SD-style faceups.

Hi, I don't know if this is normal. I preordered both 9S and 2B via Volks inter. and paid the deposit on 20th and saw on my bank statement that volks already charged me. Today, I just check my statement again, but those transactions are gone and money is refunded. I check on my Volks order, and both orders are still there. Anyone is having the same problem or just me. BTW

Same thing happened to me with the Fate Grand Order pre-orders. The charges will eventually be reflected in your balance once they are fully processed on Volks side. It can take a few weeks for this to happen.

Not sure how to feel about her face after seeing more pictures. I don't know how to put it ... but she has a more childish face than the in-game model.

 

I got a similar feeling. In the first photo of her face revealed she looked more mature and slightly serious. These photos from Twitter users vary wildly with her looking very young, innocent and cute. I don't know if it's the phone cameras doing it? In game she almost glares with frowny eyebrows.

 

I still like the face as a doll sculpt though , but not getting a 2B vibe. Maybe it's different in person. Masked she's a lovely 2B though and I'll get her (and hopefully 9S too) eitherway.

I am very very seriously considering doing a split, because I am really enamored with 9S's head for an OC of mine. The OC in question is, however, a girl in a fantasy setting, so I really only need the head (and might kidnap the pod for Agatha. Maybe. That's tentative.).

 

So I guess I'm curious how interested people are in the clothes, body, etc.? I want to know how viable the split would be before I formally set up a thread for it and commit myself, since it'd be my first split LOL.

Caved in and ordered 9S.

Didn't think I wanted him, but oh well - I really liked him for some reason.

2B is gorgeous, but "too pretty" for me. Really looking forward to see some owner photos of her though.

I really, really LOVE their rendition of 9S but 2B... not so much. I'm 80% sure I'm getting 9S but as for 2B I might have to settle for Flare's figurine instead. I guess if 2B had her visor on all the time it might not bother me as much but like I said before, something about her eyes make her look too innocent / young to be the 2bae i know and love. I agree with everyone above that her overall set is very impressive though. Still kind of tempted because I prefer to have them together as a set... Decisions, decisions.

It could be the size of her eyes that are making her look more innocent? Perhaps switching the eyes to a pair with smaller irises would help? /enable

Yeah, I think it might be the quality of the pictures that are making her look weird to me. At least 9S looks younger in-game so the face sculpt works well. I'm most likely going to get 9S, even though I don't want to miss out on 2B, there's just a lot about the doll that is bothering me.
