Ok, time to finish off Day 7 at Skytree!

After going up the tower and seeing the sights, we headed back down for some random shopping. The first thing we saw in the Tokyu Hands store inside the Skytree Village was our good friend PPAP! Here's Ed dancing with him.

Around the corner from there was a photo area where large groups of visitors could get together for pics.

This cool map showed all the tall towers of the world..... with Skytree leading the way as the tallest!

Time for lunch! Ed and I did curry in the mall food court.

Mine was extremely good.

I finally found those owl backpacks and purses for sale! Too bad they cost over $400 for the medium sized ones!

We headed over to Harajuku to visit the big shrine there. I really like Harajuku because of the huge amount of stores, the crazy crowds and the cool stuff to look at.

Wow, they have dirty street beggars/artists here too! LOL This guy was playing that metal drum thing and it was really neat sounding.

And here are barrels of donated wine waiting to be used at the shrine.

There was a traditional Shinto style wedding happening while we were there. I didn't have my telephoto lens with me so I couldn't get any close photos of them.

Walking back towards the busy side of the train tracks we saw a bunch of doves in the wooded area near the tracks. They showed no fear of us at all.... this one was about 4 feet away from me.

Awww yeah! Another huge Daisho store! Of course we went in looking for goodies.

We found a candy bar named after me in there.

Thinking back on it, I really should have bought these. Fake boobs!

You can't go to Harajuku and NOT eat crepes right? So it was over to the big crepe store next.

We got one with strawberries and chocolate and whipped crème. I think I got 2 bites of it.

It was insanely crowded out there.

But we were able to find another stretched penny machine inside the Sanrio Store!

It's hard to see but there's a big Homer Simpson up there on the 2nd floor.

This store had an insane looking entrance full of metal and mirrors.

They also had a bunch of these dolls.

I have NO idea what this delivery bike was supposed to be dressed up as but it was hilarious.

After getting back to the apartment and getting ourselves settled, we ventured back out to find some nearby doll stores. The first one we went to was less than 2 blocks away from where we stayed! This is the outside of the Dolk store.

34241592235_18bc3fd700_z.jpg183 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

After spending some dough in there, we walked a bit further and found the Dollce store.

33431142463_5b020b21cc_z.jpg184 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

They had a bunch of the full silicone dolls on display in the window.

33431130273_a6027020d1_z.jpg185 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

Know this tho, if you go to the Dollce store, take lots of cash because they do NOT accept anything but cash.

Anyways, after that we decided to get some food. We were in a different area of Akihabara than we were used to so we didn't know what was around. Luckily we found one of those places where you cook meat at your table! I got a beer to go with my meat.

33431123083_29044b26c3_z.jpg186 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

Mmm.... bacon. Thick cut and super good.

Beef liver. This was extremely good too.

33431102663_fe44153e7a_z.jpg189 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

But by far, the best meat I got was this duck. It was buttery, gamey and just excellent!

Skirt steak bits!

34241523675_7962bd12f9_z.jpg191 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

This place was up on the 2nd floor and TINY. It only sat 12 people at a time! But the food was amazing and we had a great time there too.

33431080483_90082ab029_z.jpg192 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

Here's our table top grill and vent hood.

33400384964_0e8a6920c7_z.jpg193 by Billy Bennett, on Flickr

And that's it for now! We did go back out to see Shibuya at night but there's a lot of pics and some video of that so it'll go into the next post.

Thanks for looking!

Billy

Meiji Shrine!! It's such a beautiful, peaceful area. I love it.

It amuses me to no end how everyone I know who visits it, always mentions that there is a Shinto wedding going on.

Oh yeah, I'd never been there even tho I was *right there* the last time I went to Harajuku. I enjoyed it as well even tho it was friggin packed with people.

Ha! The funny thing is, our friend Ed that was with us said that the last time HE was there..... there was a Shinto wedding going on. I think it's some sort of conspiracy! Maybe they just have the same people acting like they're getting married..... over and over and over and.....

I must be staying in the same airbnb place... Just noticed this doll shop by accident 2nd day here after taking a wrong street walking back from a conbini. Seems like it's on the wrong side of the river. What is good to buy there for a DD? Dolls weren't the purpose of my trip (Animelo & Magical Mirai concerts are), but as long as I'm here might as well see what's available. And the Smart Doll for 38,000 yen if you assemble in store is enticing too.
