DD Pen Pals (Summer 2017)!

Hey everyone,

 

Summer is drawing near-- and with summer often comes day trips, beach visits, campfires, vacations... you know what I mean Things worth telling other people about, that are maybe even worth... sending letters or postcards about?

 

A while back (inspired by how well the holiday gift card exchange went) I expressed interest in doing some sort of regular pen-pal sort of thing between forum users, and there were a few other people who seemed to want to join as well. What about the rest of y'all?

 

Some of the questions raised were whether these letters would be written from owner to owner, from DD to DD, owners to each others DDs, etc... We'd also need to come up with a set of ground rules for how this would work/how people would be paired up.

 

Let me know what you think, and we can get something organized!

There's a few penpal threads from awhile ago but i kinda like starting fresh too hahah

 

maybe title this thread penpals summer 2017 or something so if people search for penpals, they know this is the newest round to join?

 

Ill join again, i like the idea of Dollfie to Dollfie seeing my real life is literally nothing but work and home and then buying more Dollfie's .... XD

 

Choosing from users family threads means some people might need to check and update their family threads (myself included haha)

or users can choose who gets the mail, in which users would need to post a little biography here maybe?

I've never done penpals before! I'd like to try as well~

What about 'a day in the life' style letters? Like the Christmas one-offs we did in December (or my case January. Sorry) where we shared a bit of a look into how we spend our Summers/Winters both as owners and dolls?

I think it'd be more than a day in the life as pen pal (At least my understanding.) write back and forth several times. So I'd more likely have my girl(s) write about what they have "done" over the summer since sending the last letter.

I can just see Tahquil sending the same letter over and over again.

Sorry for the delay in my reply, everyone-- I was waiting a while to see how many people would pop in to say they were interested in the idea of having a pen pal. It looks like there are a good number of you (at least to get us started), and now that summer is in full swing, we ought to get the ball rolling, here!

 

I really like Oni-Chan's idea of those who wish to participate making sure that their "family" thread is up-to-date! This way, we can know exactly which one of our pen pal's girls we're addressing (or how to address all of them at once!). I've been meaning to make a thread for my girls and I want to participate in this pen pal thing myself, so I'll be making sure I have one posted soon.

 

The real question to be solved here is how we would pair owners up-- normally things like this use an RNG or something to create pairs. I thought once pairs were established, owners would work it out between themselves as to how the letters would be organized? Otherwise, we can borrow from DesertAngel's holiday card exchange idea and have people voice preferences here and then pair them accordingly.

I would just put names in a hat and draw them out two at a time to make the pen pal pairs. Then they can work out the details. And those details can be if it's just one doll to the next, or if it's a whole doll family. As well as if it'll be by email or snail mail.

Yeah, I feel like if we do it that way, it can't get too complicated. I didn't think of the email/snail-mail option-- that's a good idea! Some people might want to participate but not want to share home addresses with one another. I don't want to leave anyone out!

 

I was thinking something similar to your newsletter when it would come to my girls; maybe with a different "narrator" each time

If you choose newsletter style, then you could easily email them to everyone in the group as a PDF. But then that'd kinda take away some of the personalization you get with true pen pals.

I would really like to have a penpal (even if i have just 2 daughters) if it's still ok !

I'd love to join in I'll have to update my family thread! I don't mind having more than one pen pal, I love writing letters

Okay, so I waited a bit for some responses to trickle in since I double checked with some of the people in this thread re: their interest in having a penpal. I ended up with an even number, and ran everyone through a random pair generator, sooooo....

 

Soenatte will be penpals with Ekidonia

sinclair will be penpals with Oni-Chan

ayameari will be penpals with CharBrass

And etoile will be my penpal!

 

I know a few of you were open to having multiple penpals-- I think that's more than fine, but I'd try keeping up with one first before jumping into other commitments!

Hopefully everyone received their PMs and is organizing things with their penpal at this point Let me know how everything goes if you guys choose to pursue this!
