Thx Galvatim.i'll really need a good luck in less than 2 hours hehehehe. Will they ever sell the items in a normal way? Or If I miss the restock today, I have no chance of getting them?

They'll go up on the US site in about two months, so maybe you could find someone who would buy them and ship them out to you. Keep in mind, though, that all new outfits start out limited to one per customer, and in demand outfits sell out just as fast on Volks USA as they do on Volks International.

So far I have been very lucky with Volks US stuff. Every time I have wanted a selected outfit or two, I have gotten them. But I sit and wait with my trigger finger ready each time.

Hopefully when these come up as available here, I'll get lucky again!

I never noticed the look of Beato's eyes before. They have such a unique design to them. Is it just me or is Volks branching out into new looks? Between Beato and now with the upcoming Airy and Neris?

Airy:

Neris:

I wasn't sure I'd like the eyes when I first saw Airy and Neris but they have grown on me with the better images that are coming out finally.

These are a very different eye design. I bet they look really nice in person. There is only one way to find out.

What sold me on Beato were her eyes. I watched the entire 26 eps anime that I didn't even know about because of Beato's appearance. I am shallow. ^^;;;;;

Anyhow, I do love the two new girls coming out and bets are that their eyes are stunning in person. All of you need to go out and buy them and then take a ton of pictures, okay? Please????

Don't worry about seeming shallow when choosing a new daughter. The only interaction we can have with them before we meet them is just their physical appearance. You give them a personality and a new "life," so being drawn to a certain appearance is just the start of a creative process.

I agree that I would love to see lots of photos too!

I agree as well. I wasn't interested in the White Album girls as I really disliked the anime and Volks pictures just didn't do it for me. Now after seeing all the different photos from Yuki parents out there I really would love to have her.

There are a few DD's that I didn't like when I first saw them and still don't but I'll keep those to myself.

I love what you said Mitsuki. My Sakura didn't turn out to be like Sakura from the Fate/stay night anime at all. My girl is a bit silly and playful and not all shy and reserved like in the show.

I'd say my Fate Stay/Night girls aren't exactly true to their personalities from the game/show either. But the fun is in giving them your own spin on things.

As to the Volks photos, I agree that they're often not very convincing. I often see post release photos of DDs by others that make them look a lot better. I'm kind of surprised about that actually, but I guess if you're selling out your complete stock on almost every release it doesn't really matter.

Thanks, OtakuDepot. I am glad your Sakura gets a chance to have lots of fun.

I don't understand why Volks' photos don't come out quite right. Maybe there is an element of love missing from the equation. Generally parents taking photos of their daughters is an expression of their love for them. They want their personalities to come through. There is a visible connection between the parent and daughter.

Volks appears to be just trying to take photos they think will show features of a product. The artists who create the head molds and outfits are probably not the ones taking the product photos. The photos on the DD blog taken by the design team are usually much more creative and warm.

Actually, I think it's that Volks's photos just aren't shot by a real professional. They've got a nice camera and a studio set up with a really nice background and a fixed lighting setup, which is probably permanently installed in a room in their building and they just drop dolls in and shoot. They've probably got a camera with a 24-70 or 24-105 that never gets removed, is always on a tripod in the same spot, and they just zoom the lens to frame the shot they want. The lights were probably set once, and left that way. It's probably a lot like those mall portrait studios, where they work very similarly. I also suspect that their studio is small, which means they can't use really wide lenses, which don't make dolls look as good.

Really photographing these dolls at a professional level requires an understanding of how to make them look good with lens selection and lighting setup. Even if they've got profesional product photographers, which I still doubt, they're probably used to shooting less "human" objects that they're not trying to flatter in the way that dolls need.

I completely agree with all of you but I also have to add that being an SD parent as well (SD13 Rinon), the SDs look NOTHING like their pictures. Well, ok, that's an exaggeration but they look (in my opinion) about a zillion times worse than the Dollfie Dreams. I completely agree that a parent's love shows through the detail and the pictures, no doubt... but the SD pictures... you're really buying on faith 80% of the time. They look much better in person than online. The color always seems to be off too- though I know that changes from monitor to monitor.

I quite like the blog photos from Japan. I think you guys already mention that they take more care. It's odd but wonderful how a doll's eyes come to life when someone has show personality in a photo. It's certainly magical. ^^

Ah, and thank you for making me feel better about my DD superficial tendencies. It's funny how you can't really know your dolls until you bond with them. I've realized that is a very real thing now and it's strange.... maybe I'll go start a topic on it. Hmmm.

Imho, the people who take Dollfie pictures for the site, do it solely for catalogue purpose, while we take the dollfie pictures to show off their beauty. A more extreme example is comparing passport photo and beauty shot of some one heheheheheeh.

When I take pictures of mydollfie, I try to treat them like human model, and try to get a good flattering angle

@Nakitaninja

My Beatrice just arrive. Her eyes are really beautiful. I love them.

Will the Volks USA blog be updated ahead of time to let me know what day the outfits will be made available? Will it also specify the time like with the lottery?

Yes, the blog will say when the outfits come on sale. It will start at a specific time.

Necroposting is so bad... but I was feeling so nostalgic and emotional today!

I loved this Dolpa, for me everything started with Beatrice.

Also, since I kinda stopped watching anime/reading manga, I ignore who are the characters of most of the new dolls.

Seeing this thread made me happy
