Silicone help - again!

Recommended Posts

littlebirdzoom

I'm back with more issues because why not

So I just got my hands on one of those yawajiri/ Peach Pai hip parts. They were listed as brand new, unopened which was great. But When I took it out of the box there were some things majorly wrong with it and I don't know if/how I can fix it.

The butt part of it is not only flat, but dented? It has wrinkles in it from the plastic. It's been out for a few days now and I've tried massaging the pieces out and washing it with warm water but the shape is not reforming.

I am very worried about this because I spent a TON of money on this, the main attraction of it is ruined and the proxy does not accept returns. Does anyone know how to reshape silicone? Or if it's possible? Or have had this experience with the busts?

Poor thing looks like it's been laying in the bag in one position for who knows how long. And who knows what temp differences it's been through too. I wanted to ask before I heat it up or try anything crazy.

wow that sounds weird, i have one myself and it never has shown any signs of deforming even after sitting on her butt on my desk for a long time.

She's been standing up for a while now without anything touching her and they aren't showing any signs of going back in place.

I had a DD girl with one of the solid soft busts, not the hollow Peach Pai type. She had a corset top on for several years, which imprinted the grommets and lacing into her back. The corset has been off for several years now. I should check to see if the lacing imprints are still there or if the material has "bounced back".

Damn that sucks =( I am not sure what to recommend other than giving it air for a week and seeing if you have any changes. You could also send the pictures to Rajikaru through twitter and see if he has any suggestions

Please yes! If you can I would love to know and go from there. Scary to think how just a few weeks can bend them. I'll never sit her down on a shelf that's for sure haha. Please do see ^_^

On top of that, the silicone got a stain somehow. Standing on a white desk touching nothing. My luck is horrible. I hear silicone "eats" stains though. I emailed Twinpines to see if Removezit would work for it.

Something tells me some force doesn't want me to have this xD I'm so gentle and clean with all my things. This is strange.

Good idea! I'll message them or tweet them on Twitter I didn't even think of that. The language barrier is going to suck though, but we will see.

Definitely dont put any stain remover on silicone. For stain removal you can just wash it with soap & water, let it dry, powder it. repeat

I had a really bad dark black stain on one of my busts from a dress, it took literally weeks of washing / powdering, but eventually it completely went away. It just takes some time

That's what I've been doing. I guess I'll just continue.

My girl is going to have an only white wardrobe haha. And I thought I was nervous with normal vinyl - HA

I have no clue how that silicone has held on to those marks/dents for so long, most often silicone is pliable enuff to revert to it's normal state after a few days. I really am at a loss on how to fix those marks.

As for the stains, like Drizz said *DO NOT* put any type of stain remover ointment/cream on it! It will turn the silicone yellow and it will begin to deteriorate.

When I got a stain on one of my Peach Pai, I cleaned it with warm soapy water and then put it in a Ziploc bag and totally covered it with cornstarch. I then shook the bag to make sure it was totally covered and let it sit for a week. After the week sitting in the cornstarch, I cleaned it off, washed it and then saw that the stain was almost completely gone! I repeated the process and the second time got it all gone. That's what I suggest for the fastest and safest way to clean it.

Redxmaverick brought his Rise who has the peach pai hip parts to a doll meet I attended yesterday. He showed me a dent like yours that he had gotten from having her wearing something tight for a long time. He said he waited for it to bounce back, but it never did Hope Rajikaru can help if possible!

I finally dug out that bust. It's been at least 4 years and it is still imprinted with very little (if any) bounce back.

SoftBust01.jpg

You can still clearly see the grommets and tie lines.

SoftBust02.jpg

You can see the impression of a fabric seam on the bottom of the bust.

On another note the stains/marks visible here came off quickly with Formula 911.

Thank you so much for showing me this. I'm going to try Formula 911 soon and see if it can get that stain off.

Thank you both for your help. I've used the information to make my case stronger with SMJ. I'm extremely worried with everyone's no return/refund policy that I just spent as much as I did on a "broken" item. The seller doesn't seem to be willing to help much, but they are currently asking Rajikaru for advice so we will see. I really REALLY don't want to have to go all the way to Paypal to see if I can get something returned, though I doubt I will win. Silicone generally doesn't reform its shape and this just confirms my suspicions.

I could probably get over the dent if the butt wasn't also flat. It's so funny looking xD If I find any information that could be useful to people later I will be sure to pass it along too!

On an update, Rajikaru agreed to help fix it.... but in August... IF he has room.... and for 11,600 yen. Not including the shipping.

Which would make what I spent on this item (including shipping) an entire grand. I am so incredibly unhappy right now and I have no idea what to do. I wanted this thing. I did not one thousand dollars want this thing. I am really wondering if opening a dispute on Paypal with SMJ will do anything, but I have no other options. I don't want to hurt their business because they're great and I use them often, but they really need a better policy for this sort of situation. The seller on YJA was so unhelpful.

I feel like I'm being a whiny noob but I've never been in this situation before and the thought of throwing my money down the drain for a damaged item kills me.

Ouch... that sounds more like he's going to replace it at a somewhat lower cost than actually repairing it. If it were something easily done I would think he would just tell you

SMJ definitely should have inspected the item and let you know about the indent in the silicone. The flat butt they may not have recognized as damaged, but at least the dent. Guessing the seller's photos didn't show any of this when you had them buy it? You could definitely open a PayPal dispute against SMJ, but whether you win or lose the case I'm sure that SMJ will most likely ban you from using their services. I could be wrong, but since under returns they say that auction items are as is and final sale that's what I assume they'll do. But you could always find another proxy if it comes to that. Better than having to spend a grand on what ended up being a damaged item

Silicone is highly heat resistant. I am wondering if putting it in boiling water will help it bounce back. K-2, if you feel your piece is a total loss anyway, maybe dunking it in boiling water to see if the indentations bounce back would be worth experimenting with.

I hate to say it but you might have to eat this one. Many proxies have no return policies and if you used their service you agreed to that. As for inspection of the item, the proxy probably wouldn't know what to look for damage-wise unless they were very familiar with this type of product.

The situation really sucks and you don't have much in the way of recourse. I've had similar experiences but not with as high a price. If the damaged piece can't be exchanged, getting a replacement at a fraction of the original cost might be your best option.

As for repair, heating might work but I don't know. As Galatia mentioned silicone is very heat resistant. Some formulations are used as resting plates for hot irons (300+ degrees). A soak in boiling water could be well below the temperature threshold needed for the material to relax and reform. In the case of the bust part I have there are plastic tubes buried inside the silicone, which are probably PVC or styrene and have a much lower heat threshold than the silicone and would deform quicker. I may try the heating/boiling method on the bust part I have but I would need to find something (wooden rods?) to insert in the tubes to help them keep their shape. You would need to check your piece to see what internal structures are embedded in it before trying it.

I definitely had to eat the costs for a pair of resin eyes that I had gotten when I first got into the hobby. I was so disappointed that the eyes had arrived terribly defective (bubbles/scratches that were not present in auction photos). But I didn't say anything to the proxy because I knew they had a no return policy and that they might not have realized that they were defective since they might not have been familiar with resin eyes. It made me more careful about what I would have a proxy order for me. I know that some proxies charge extra for actual inspection of items as well.

I've eaten costs before, I have no problem doing it. It happens. But this was nearly a thousand dollars on its own before all the repairs needed. I do understand that I agree to terms, but I wanted to try because it's not an amount of money I'm willing to eat for an item that was advertised as brand new and not inspected by anyone and clearly not brand new. The thing is though is I've asked SMJ for smaller options to help. The seller did return a very minuscule amount of money to me ($70). I told SMJ to either waive my shipping fees, or even just one shipping fee, or to help with a portion of the repair fee. Just anything. I don't want to get a full return and I don't even want a large chunk of it back. I'm fine with sending it to be repaired, but not for practically another $200 with shipping and all that. This was an astronomical amount of money.

SMJ definitely should have inspected the item and let you know about the indent in the silicone. The flat butt they may not have recognized as damaged, but at least the dent. They should have at least inspected it and talked to the seller beforehand. But K2 is right, I doubt they would know what to look for. The photos didn't show anything and the seller said on their listing that the item was brand new and never played with. Which means the seller didn't inspect it either.

Honestly I'm curious why SMJ didn't push the seller more when they contacted them. I feel like they gave the seller too much leeway. But they might have just not known what to say.

I definitely had to eat the costs for a pair of resin eyes that I had gotten when I first got into the hobby.

Yeah but I bet the eyes didn't cost $900 hah. Like I said I've eaten costs before for hundreds of dollars. But this particular situation isn't the same. I'm still talking to SMJ to get a solution because I don't wan to get banned and I don't want to be more a pain in the ass than I already am, but I'm not going to just "eat" nearly a grand for what I thought was an untouched item, receiving it broken and being told to pay to fix it.

If nothing else I am just going to use the return I received and pay the remainder for the repair, but it would be really nice is SMJ would waive at least a small shipping fee because of all this. Just something. Anything.

Like I said it's not like I'm looking for a return or anything big. I'm just upset that no one on either side is willing to help. It's not even that the item is just damaged somewhere - it's damaged on the main part of it. It's almost unusable.

I feel like one of "those" people right now, crying over this. Ugh.

SMJ just agreed to give me a small credit for the remainder of the repair fee. So I will still have to spend extra on shipping the item around which is fine, but I won't have to pay for the actual repair. This is all I really wanted, so this solution works. I had asked for this early on before I had gotten this upset, but I feel like they might have been trying to avoid it. Or I write walls of text lol They aren't paying for the full repair, more like 30% of it and the rest will come from my refund and my pockets. Itty bitty tiny credit.

I feel relieved. I never wanted to return the item or get my money back or anything. I just wanted it to be fixed :/ The guy I've been talking to at SMJ and I seem to be on fine terms. After a while he got a little more personal than professional with me and we were talking about how this whole situation sucks and that the reason they can't do more is because Japan mostly does things through wire transfer.

We chatted it out and came to a solution. This whole thing was draining, but I'm glad something came of it.

I might be the actual unluckiest when it comes to silicone parts. My first ever Peach Pai didn't cure right and had a smell like chemical death to it. And then this. xD

This is a relief! I'm glad to hear a solution got worked out that you're satisfied with. Those parts are expensive and getting a new one "pre-damaged" really stinks. It may not be the best of all possible worlds, but it is something.

Thank you both!

And yeah, it's not the absolute best option, but it's at least exactly what I needed. So I can't complain too

much. Huge huge relief either way ^_^ I think for the future I'll be a little more careful about ordering more fragile parts like this... ie requesting pictures if I can, or skipping out on a listing that has little pictures.

All is well though, no flat bent booty for me.

Glad to hear you were able to come to a solution where you worked things out with SMJ and didn't have to resort to to opening a dispute And yeah I know that the eyes weren't the high cost that you spent, was just sharing that I know the pain of having to eat the cost of something I knew I couldn't get a refund on

At least in the end the SMJ representative understood and helped you out. So do you have to send your current Peach Pai hips to Rajikaru in August for the repairs to be made? Wonder what the repair process will be
