After School Akihabara Girls DD Ruri Release!

Pity, while she wasn't on my wish list she is certainly unique, and a nice break from the smiling faces Volks limiteds have worn lately.

Interestingly, they used Ruri (in her maid dress, which was already being sold separately) in the post about the new Doll Point grand opening. It doesn't have any mention of her status, however.

It's only mentioning that there will be a limited number of DD-sized candies given out for free.

I wonder if we can take this as a sign that it's not the end of her? Unless they'd already taken that pic and couldn't be bothered taking another one lol.

It'd be weird if they let the mold go to waste and didnt just make her a new outfit, though.

I'm hoping she pops up again at some point too. She looks like Aria and Melody's mom so yeah. Although I won't complain if she comes later... I really want some time to relax on getting new dolls tbh.

This brings up the question of how many of her they've made so far, if any. Cos I don't think they'd get rid of their 'master' one, they'd probably put her in the new DD museum. But I'd definitely be curious what kind of price she'd sell for in such a hypothetical situation.

Currently the honour of 'most limited dd' goes to DDH11 D'Coords. Gonna be interesteing seeing what they go for if any of those make it onto yahoo auction.

They've had SD's that were a single doll release. Their Cinderella sold at auction for 10k, and they did another one this year for a charity auction. I can't recall her name though.

I don't think those were unique molds, though, just unique face-up + costume. I think Cinderella is actually the Belle mold, and Skellington is actually a Reisner? There was also a Rapunzel, too (Lieselotte mold).

 

So if you're talking "most limited fullset," there are lots of one-off dolls, but "most limited mold," then it's a different story.

I think they will release her later, anyway! with a different outfit, although I really liked the Lost Tree one.

The new outfit is COMPLETELY different to the old one - I was actually expecting another lolita dress - but I gotta say I actually really like this. I love that cute backpack... man now it's my turn to want her just for her outfit

It gives her character a very different image to before, she looks more playful and cute whereas the cancelled one looked more refined/'lady'-like. I wonder when they plan to release her?

I really enjoy her outfit as well, except maybe for the cat ears and plushie? I might have to try and hunt parts down in the future -especially that bag ☆

 

Her faceup seems kind of different too? It looks like her lips are darker, and her eyes more of a pink than a purple hue.

Not keen on the new outfit myself. Just really disappointed as they were making a proper lolita style dress before. Shame they couldn't just make a new lolita design.

I'm glad to see that Ruri is back Although I'm not overly interested in her new outfit either and would have preferred another lolita-style ensemble. But at least she hasn't just been thrown to one side and will actually be released!

That is a really cute outfit. I want that hoodie and the backpack with the stuffed toy.

Ellspeth is giving me a look every time I go back to check out that outfit. I think she's hinting at something...

Not too interested in the plushie, but that outfit is just adorable! I've been really considering Ruri for my Rosie instead of the SQ lab head I had so I'm glad that her release still happening. If she was just on a DDS body instead that would've worked out perfectly for me. Her eyes are even the right color now!

I'm not too big on the outfit, actually. . . mostly because the only girl of mine I can picture in it is Abby, who is an MDD. Still glad that those who like her face can get her, though.

Hahaha! Another excellent nickname for whatever the heck that silly cat is supposed to be! I have one as well and it's pretty popular with my little angry MDD girl Bud as well as Reika and Reiko my Rei clones.

God that description is so perfect lol. If I get Ruri I'll have two of them now. I agree that the ears are odd but knowing my Miku she'll totally go for them. Weird is right up her alley. The outfit itself seems pretty cute though. It isn't Ellisandra's style, but A few of my girls will definitely like it.

Oh man I really liked her original dress but I love this outfit. The catbat plush is a bit odd to me (I find the use of Western religious symbols on random secular objects by Japanese designers kind of strange in general) but the rest of the outfit is super cute. I love that the buttons on the dress are actually to scale and not slightly too big, as many of Volks' buttons tend to be.

Her original outfit was something I'd buy if it were sold separately, but for this one I'm going to actually try and look for a split.

I wish the dress jumper was in a contrasting color! Blue or even pink would have been nice. In the Twitter photo, her mouth looks like Saber's from that camera angle.
