Geck_O Posted July 1, 2017 Hi I'm a new user but I've been a lurker for about a month lol. I'm in Japan right now and trying to get into the opening day for doll point! I'll try to scope out as much as I can and get back hopefully with more details on what's available for the dream choice. Awesome! Tell us what you see. I imagine there will be a few people who got some already who might be in the photo areas too. I noticed the dollpoint site updated but the info there isn't anything new since Volks News. *twitter*instagram*art*
Monty Posted July 2, 2017 Looking around on twitter, someone got a MDD of DCH13 in tan. They clarify that both the wig and eyes are from Dream Choice (but not the clothes obviously) However, many other people are talking about how they had to preorder a head they wanted (apparently the 'angry ddh01 flat version' and possibly others), and whether this is due to it selling out or them not having it ready yet I'm not sure) and they have receipts to come and pick up the doll in September. This might just be because it's the opening day and it was likely crowded, so I imagine this will be less of an issue once it calms down a bit...however long that will take. From people's accounts it seems a looot of people are getting tan girls. *twitter*instagram*art*

Geck_O Posted July 4, 2017 So I just finished doing the dream choice appointment. Warning long post ahead: I showed up for my time slot and even though I don't speak Japanese I was able to understand the processes fairly easily. First you're able to select which body you want from: mini, sister, normal dolfie dream and dynamite. You can also select the skin tone, which as of July is normal skin and tan skin (sunlight skin). Next you choose the head. All the current heads so far are avalible with the choice of three different face ups for each head. The face ups differ for each specific head The eyes are the Animetic T model available in red, grey, golden, blue, green, purple and pink. You can also chose which mm you want, (from 20mm-24mm) although the staff member will recommend you a size for the head that you chose. The wig choices are the D'COORD ones: the straight hime cut, romantic wave and bob. The wig colours are all the available D'COORD ones as well as: purple, ice purple, dark purple/black and several blondes and browns. (from what I remember) If all the parts you requested are currently in stock the staff will bring out all the parts and give them to you to inspect. Next the staff will assemble the doll for you including putting in the eyes. The eyes are not glued in and from what I could tell it's some sort of fluffy foam? Keeping them in place. Then once the heads on you get to look at your doll before they're wrapped and packed up in a box for you too take home! The wig and the white slip which you also recieve with the dream choice are left off the doll so you can put them on at home. All togeather I paid about 600,40 ¥ for the dream choice including tax. If you're a foreigner tax free is also an option. The price is set per which body you choose. Mini dolfie dream is 520,00¥ sister is 560,00¥ (I believe) dolfie dream is 560,00¥ and dynamite is 580,00¥.
Monty Posted July 4, 2017 Thanks for the report! Congrats on being the first person on the forum to get a DreamChoice! Are you in living in Japan on a visa or just visiting? I'm wondering if this is something that visitors/tourists are able to do. Once you get to 20 posts I'd love to see pics of your girl, otherwise you could upload them to somewhere else like instagram or twitter and post what your username is (since you wont be able to post links yet) I'm a bit surprised that you can only choose from one type of eye (T-type). That seems kind of odd, considering that the D'Coords use any of the available eyes. Unless you meant the T-type is only available through Dream Choice? (I also noticed on twitter that the Dream Choice boxes are kinda stylish) *twitter*instagram*art*
Geck_O Posted July 4, 2017 Yes I'm very thankful I was able to get an appointment the first day! I waited for two hours on the Grand re-opening to try to be the first to get in! Im a visitor to Japan, this is just a vacation, I live in Canada. So it's totally something foreigners can do while they're here! However if parts are out of stock you may have to order them in and then get the doll shipped to a Japanese adress. Im only in Japan for one more day, but when I get home I'll be uploading pictures of my girl on my instagram which is lizard_bro if anyone's interested. In regards to the eyes, T-type appears only to be available for the dream choice system. Haha yes the box is pretty swishy it even comes with a cardboard insert which the doll is tied on to so they don't slide around in transit
Monty Posted July 4, 2017 Excellent! That's the main info I wanted to know, so it's great news for everyone who plans to visit Tokyo in future. I'm also glad to hear that you didn't have any trouble with language barrier, which should put a lot of people at ease. Unrelated to this thread but I noticed on twitter that the new standard girls were also on display in Dollpoint in a glass case. Did you get to see them, too? Do you think they look any different to the Volks News pics? The photo was kind of too far away to tell... *twitter*instagram*art*
Nikn Posted July 4, 2017 Congrats Geck_O! I'll be waiting for those pictures once you get home : D Also, Welcome to the forum I hope to see you around a lot from now on
Geck_O Posted July 4, 2017 There was some confusion around the start with the language. But once we figured out you didn't need a volks card or Japanese Adress (just a signature) things went smoothly. From there on out you're given a catalogue to make your choices for the dolls, which you can just point to the option you want. In regards to the new standards they've been moved to the center of the store in a solo glass box and reposed. Unfortunately I didn't get any close up's of the actual dolls only their information posters Congrats Geck_O! I'll be waiting for those pictures once you get home : D Thanks so much for the welcome! And I hope I can get some good pictures asap on my actual camera!

Geck_O Posted July 4, 2017 Hi sorry if there was any confusion to how I got to do the dream choice. There is no special ticket needed for dream choice. The only ticket I received was for entry into the store during the grand re-opening. If you want to do dream choice you just show up in person to the store and ask one of the staff members about booking an appointment for dream choice. (if you can't speak Japanese just bring up the webpage for dream choice on your phone and show it to a staff member, I did this) They'll then show you a calender with a various times during the week when you can participate. (I believe you can book up to a week in advance) Choose which ever time slot and day works for you. All you have to do when your day/time arrives is return to the store and say you have an appointment for that time. Then the staff will take you aside to start the dream choice. I am a foreigner to Japan on vacation so I just chose a slot that worked for me before my vacation was over. Also there is a time limit on making your desicion for which options you want, 40 minutes. But since the choices are not too extensive it shouldn't take you too long. The entire process for me was done in about 35 minutes including doll assembly.
sinclair Posted July 5, 2017 That's awesome you were able to do it, and give the details. It would really nice if in the future someone could get photos of all the face up options. That'd make it simpler for those of out that can't go to tell a proxy what we wanted. I so want a tan 14. Sigh.

Monty Posted July 5, 2017 Geck_O said I could post the lovely Dream Choice girl. I'm just so happy that we have two tan girls on the forum now! That's the same wig Bri came with as a D'Coord! It's a really nice one. I hope to see a lot more of her! *twitter*instagram*art*
Cauldroness Posted July 5, 2017 Thanks so much, Geck_O, for taking the time to write up your experience. Really great information and such a lovely girl, too! Hoping Volks will release photos of all the different face-up variations. I know we've seen the 3 for 06 but I don't think we've seen the variations for any of the other ones...? Monty Posted July 6, 2017 I hope they include it somewhere on the site eventually but seeing as they don't do that for the SD full choice (there's an actual full choice book you can buy though) I'm not sure if they will At the moment it sounds like a menu they give you rather than an actual book - if it was a book someone could at least buy it/scan it. *twitter*instagram*art*
sinclair Posted July 6, 2017 If they offer a DDFC book or menu for sale, I'd buy it for sure so I know what to tell someone to get me.
Beani Posted July 9, 2017 Went to Akiba yesterday in the hope of scoping out the tan options at DC and booking an appointment. Was pretty disappointed that there were only 3 tan girls currently on display. The catalog was also useless as it shows the faceups only in Normal skin tone (with no eyes which made it hard to properly visualize for me). I ended up walking away with no appointment for now. Such a shame too cause I was mainly interested in the 14 which has only one Faceup option. Would have been nice to at least show that in tan. I was impressed by how different some of the faceup options looked to each other for each sculpt, sadly they banned pics of the catalog with none available for sale either. Most sculpts had the 3 options for faceup but not all, some faceups could not be used on all skin tones. A couple of face up types were also preorders for September already. Not sure if they always were or if they just update the sheets as items go out of stock.
Monty Posted July 9, 2017 Aw, that's disappointing. I had a feeling it was something like that. But at least you had the option to look without buying I guess. It wasn't possible to at least ask to see the tan 14 head...? *twitter*instagram*art*
asianed Posted September 22, 2017 (edited) I took the plunge yesterday on my first day in Tokyo and did a Dream Choice! It was a fairly smooth experience, here are some of my thoughts. I stopped into the DollPoint Akihabara at around 6:00pm on Thursday after I got settled into my hotel. I don't speak any Japanese, so I was worried that there would be language issues with getting it done. My goal was to secure an appointment for later on in the trip, but discovered that if the sales staff was free, you can just get going! Fortunately, the person I talked to spoke English and was able to guide me through the process! Time commitment is capped at 40 minutes, but being prepared can cut that down pretty significantly. I was done making my selections in about 20 minutes and it took the staff member another 10 to put the doll together. It was super easy to just sit down and get a Dream Choice made! Packaging and included items is almost as nice as the Resin dolls. Basically, you pick the following items (in this order): 1. Body type - MDD, DD, DDS, DDDy 2. Body color - Normal or seasonal color. Semi-White is available October-March, Brown/tan is available April-September 3. Head mold - The standard 10 heads have several options for faceups numbered DCH-01 through 10. There are two additional variants of the 01 head with different mouth shape: DCH-12 &13. There's also the DollChoice exclusive head which only has one faceup option called the DCH-14. Faceups are generally unique to Doll Choice customers 4. Eyes - You pick the style, color, and size of eyes. Several styles are exclusive to Doll Choice 5. Wig - You can use any standard wig or one of exclusives. Some wigs are D'Coord exclusive wigs, but have special Dream Choice exclusive colors (and not available for purchase outside of the process). These are the heads that you can choose from for Dream Choice. Only one faceup is show for each, image is from Volks Newsletter 75. If you seem unsure, the staff member can recommend a head for the body style as well eye size for the head you picked. My staff member gravitated towards picking the Dream Choice exclusive wigs and eyes and they do look very good with the exclusive head. Since Volks does not publish the choice catalog anywhere (and there aren't any pictures of it that I know of), it would be extremely hard to have someone proxy for you in this process. Over time it may get easier as more combinations are built, but there'll still be some imagination involved to think what a 04 head with green eyes and exclusive wavy wig in red. The box has some nice details and lettering on it to distinguish it from a normal bog standard DD box. The box is one-size-fits-all, so they pack MDDs, DDs, and DDDys in the same size box. This leads to some significant head room if you get an MDD. The Doll Choice girls comes with some extra dobleepent in the form of your order sheet and the options you chose. English readers rejoice! There is a little handout explaining the process! Here is a handout (in Japanese) explaining the eye mounting system. It's different and probably makes it easier for the staff member to assemble, but I found it made the headcap slightly harder to put back. Like all standard models, Dream Choice dolls also include the concept note and a slip/undies. Clothes, hand parts, and other bust sizes are optional extras. The wig I chose is exclusive to Dream Choice. They have all styles and colors on display for you to see. I went with Tan skin (officially called "brown" as well as 22mm gold eyes. There are also several eye choices and colors that are exclusive to Dream Choice. Each eye comes in 20mm, 22mm, and 24mm. The staff member will make a recommendation on eye size and also test fit each type for you in the head you choose. The head is a Dream Choice exclusive, the DCH-14. Most of the other heads have face up options, but the 14 only has one. All the heads come painted, so no customization is needed when you choose. This also makes assembly much faster and you can take your new doll home that day (more on the exceptions later). Overall, it was very cool to go through this process. The staff member I had spoke some English and was able to get through the process easily. They have catalogs where you can pick each part, complete with pictures. They'll then demo the combination for you before you sign off on the build. Overall, it took about 30 minutes to have a doll made! I think they make an effort to keep all of the different options in stock, but if you happen to pick an item that they don't have (and you really want that option), then they'll have to order it for later assembly. They don't ship dolls (as far as I know), so you'll need to return to the store to pick it up when the parts come in. This may present a challenge for those who are only visiting Japan for a short period of time. As for spare parts, Volks keeps a stock of hands and busts for the non-standard skin colors. They are only available at DollPoint Akihabara, so if you want to have a set of hands, be sure to get them before you leave! They aren't available to order or at any other Volks location! Of course, if you use a standard color, then you're good to go. ^^ Finally, foreigners purchasing at Volks have the option to request Duty Free payment! All you have to do is provide your passport to them and they won't charge you the 8% consumption tax that goes to Japanese consumers. This goes directly at odds if you have a Volks Point Card and you'll only be allowed to do one or the other (Point Cards are only issued to people with addresses in Japan, Duty Free is only offered to those who are temporary visitors). Volks has a minimum purchase of 5,000 Yen to offer Duty Free, so if you buy a doll, you can also load up on various other items and have them count too! I did come across certain items that couldn't be counted, such as body stockings (no idea why). The minimum is for a single purchase, so this would be a great opportunity to pick up those smaller things like wig spray, eye putty, and other small items. Talolili Posted September 22, 2017 Congrats, Ed! She's such a cutie! Love this new sculpt, very innocent looking. Reminds me a bit of Yoko! The packaging is also very nice and the process seems interesting from what you've told us. I hope if I do ever get the chance to visit Japan I can create my own girl (or boy) if the male bodies are standard by then.
Eustia Posted September 22, 2017 I really need to find someone in Japan to get me one of these tan girls. Nice process, shame it is store-exclusive. I suppose they need to do some unique stuff to get people in the door instead of just ordering online. Just bad for us international folk. >.
