Doll Point ‘Build-a-DD’: Dream Choice!

Ooh a tan DDdy, nice! Both 14 and 16 are DC exclusive heads, though 16 is the newest one. I'm really looking forward to seeing more pictures of that sculpt tbh.

 

At the moment the only wig style that is limited to Dream Choice is the ponytail style one called "Cheerful Tail". I chose this wig in candy pink and it's pretty cute! Because of how it's styled and since it fits pretty snugly it takes a bit more time and effort for me to put it on though so my girl is currently using the "Romantic Wave"(albeit straightened a bit with hot water) wig in the same color as her usual wig instead.

Dream Choice is so nice, you'll enjoy making your own DD Can't wait to see your girl!

For the wigs, there are also limited colors, for example my DDH03 from Dream Choice System is wearing a non limited wig in shape, but in a limited color. Don't worry, you can ask the staff what's limited to the DCS, they are very nice!

The ‘romantic wave’ is a non exclusive wig? Maybe I’ll get that as extra.

After browsing everywhere I could, I am suddenly confused.

Should I go with a tan or normal body.

Seems that a tan body looks good with only lighter colored wigs. Maybe I am just a noob.

And that makes it hard for me to choose.

It’s beautiful if the combo is good. One wrong choice and she’s gonna be monster.

 

So if any veterans would help me make up my mind, i’d be very very grateful.

The DCH-16 you're talking about is normal skin! For comparison, The DCH-16 with m02 is tan. I haven't seen it in person, so I can't really comment, but tan doesn't seem vastly darker than normal. I have a smart doll in tea, which is basically the smart doll "tan" and I've heard in comparison it's much darker than Volks tan. In photos it looks like Volks tan is more of a "sunkissed" look, not much of a darker skin tone. Someone who has a Volks tan can definitely tell you more about it than me!

 

If I'm not mistaken though, at Dream Choice they will be able to show you the options in real life, so you don't have to choose blindly.

It seems like its also absolutely fine to request seeing multiple combinations before choosing what you want, which is why they allow you the amount of time that they do. (Although, obviously, you arent allowed to actually touch anything until you've decided/paid) After all, you're building a 'dream girl' and they seem to want you to choose carefully. I imagine you can try all kinds of wigs on her and see for yourself which you like. Although I'm not sure what you mean by only light wigs looking good on the tan dolls...

 

If you arent sure about asking to see different skin tones for the same sculpt, remember there will be D'Coords on display right where you walk in at Doll Point and its most likely that you'd be able to see a tan girl on display there (not in the the dream choice limited sculpts, but if it was just the colour you wanted to see, you could see it there...although imo Doll Point lighting is not the best)

Been looking at sample pics. Some pics the tan looks just a tad darker. But some others, it’s quite dark. Then again, Smartdoll Tea is darker definitely.

 

Anyway I guess I’ll decide once I’ve seen both. Or maybe a particular look that can capture me immediately.

The volks_dd account on twitter just announced some updates to the Dream Choice website, and while I can't read most of it, it definitely seems like they're adding DDP bodies to the Dream Choice lineup!!!

All they did was finally put all the updates in the last Volks News on the site, DDP has been doable since mid July. I have no idea why it took them this long to update the site.

Oh geez yeah, I read through this thread when it was posted a few weeks ago and then completely forgot, whoops. I'm just excited whenever there's baby steps toward DDP base bodies available (and in sw!!).

Volks have posted the D'Coords available for lottery at Dolpa next weekend. In a surprise twist, most of them have Dream Choice exclusive heads. (this isn't that common for D'Coords, and also I believe only happens at Dolpa) Always nice to see more example combinations.

All are 'flesh' coloured.

I love the DD Choice, went last April to Japan and bought my self a DDS # 14 in tan, going back next year for  DDp and a MDD in tan. Weeee can wait to go.

Can you post photos of your tan 14 please?  I think I want to get my own of that combo.

I just hope they bring tan into the regular skin color options eventually so it will be a little easier to get a hold of them.

Vamlest - She is beautiful! Which faceup palette is she wearing?  I recently got a tan 06 from Mandarake and am in the process of getting her all fixed up. I adore her! I cannot wait to get a tan DDdy through a proxy soon.  

 

Ps - I forgot to mention how lovely her fashion and overall look (wig & eyes) are.  She is just stunning. Congrats on your beauty.

A little late, but yes they will allow you to request to see different combinations of things. It's good to go in being a little decisive, but they will put your chosen head on a bust and add eyes and a wig that you want to see even if you don't request to see it previewed. You can swap it as many times as you like, ask to see different sizes of eyes etc. They will do it all for you even if you don't ask.

DDBoy and DDSBoy are joining Dream Choice finally. Hopefully not too much longer until base bodies, but now it'll be much easier to get hold off bodies which were previously only with limited dolls. Plus, tan boys! And semiwhite DDSB! Neither of those existed before now.
There's also a new MDD-suitable head, DD17, with 3 faceups already.

 

 

New faceup options for 9 and 16 also!
I also heard people speaking about DDH18 which seems to also be MDD-suited, I havent seen pics of it yet but presumably it's a new DCoord exclusive and seems to debuting as a one-off at Dolpa.
 

EDIT: also saw another tweet I can no longer find that mentions some of the other Dream Choice makeup options are being retired, although I can't remember which. edit 2: given that I cant seem to find this at all I now wonder if I imagined that.
 

They will be accepting orders for these new options from July 14th.

This is so exciting! I want a tan boy now, this is amazing! Hopefully they'll be able to buy online soon, too... still, any step forward is progress!

Forgot to mention - those scans only show Update 1 and 2 (boys and ddh17)　of 4 updates. The other two are - 'new wigs' and 'option items'(?!) but I havent seen what those are yet. I assume the ones the boys have are among the new wigs though.

@Monty I can't wait to see them! I'll likely never get the chance to make my own Dream Choice doll (unless it becomes an online option- dream come true QQ) but the more options there are for the people who can, the more options there are for everyone, as they trickle into the secondhand market. It's very exciting ^^

On one hand...I am SO happy to see boys added. On the other...I curse my timing that I won't be in Japan for tan season. If they happen to have a tan boy out though...RIP my wallet. I'll have to plan accordingly for that potential disaster 😆 One step closer to standard boys though, and I love that!

Really happy to see tan males being offered. A big dream of mine to have one. But going to have to wait for some less female oriented heads to be released. I feel like Len is as shota as I go lol...
