Doll Point ‘Build-a-DD’: Dream Choice!

Last week I visited the doll point (multiple times lol😂) and I also saw the tan girl with the fang and was completely sold on her. I didn't yet know about the dream choice thing but there was a spot open right away so they explained everything nicely.  The experience of seeing her/the doll being put together in front of me was atleast for me very magical 😂. So far one of the best experiences I had!

That's great Ylse, definitely share pics of her once you hit 20 posts here. (Or if you have a twitter/insta, tell the name.) I'd love to see as many owner pics of DCH17 as possible cos I'm really thinking of getting one myself.

I actually just bought a Tan DCH17 aswell because I fell in love with her fangy mouth so much. I always wanted a MDD So I'm really excited and happy to finally get one! I can't wait for her to make it to me in California!! 

So excited for you both! Getting a dream choice doll is a really fun experience. I too would love to see pics of your girls

I will be flying back home tomorrow so for now she is packed well in my suitcase 😆. The people at doll point were very friendly and helpful even after me coming back several times for some hands and to stalk around for cute clothes 🤣

Went to the doll point one last time. Rem and Ram are now on display but they also had some dream choice guys on display! Didn't see the guys last time I went to the doll point in Akihabara so maybe they are new? I am more interested in the girl dolls but for people that want a guy DD it might be worth checking out? 😗😊

Looks like a trend, but when I visited Dollpoint on Tuesday I got an MDD DCH 17 too. I didn't even know they were new  before I checked out the store haha.

Yes SPAM HER GUYS SHE IS SO ADORABLE!!  I'm so glad people are getting her my friend Pandy really convinced me to get her and I am happy I did I can't wait to receive her tomorrow!!

I am planning my first trip to Japan next year, and the number one thing I want to do is create a dollfie dream choice at doll point akihabara. This thread is really helpful and full of great info. Everyone's dolls are so cute :).

I only really have 3 questions left after viewing this thread:

Does Volks have staff on hand who can speak English? - And if not, how would you request in Japanese to inquire about limited or exclusive options, wigs, eyes, heads, etc?

Lastly - am I allowed to film or photograph the process of them assembling my doll?

I think there was at least one staff member who could speak basic English in the Akiba store - someone else can probably confirm this - but whether they can or not it doesn't seem to really matter as many many people who can't speak any Japanese at all have done Dream Choice very easily. The entire process mostly involves pointing at options (photos) in a catalogue after all, so you'd be doing that anyway.
I was under the impression that you aren't allowed to film or photograph the process, or anywhere near the counter, (or anywhere in the store at all other than the places where 'photos ok' is posted) otherwise someone would have probably done it by now. You could always ask, just pointing at your camera and asking 'Ok?' is simple enough for that.

I’m fairly certain photography and filming is banned for Dream Choice as that whole counter is off limits for photos. I do remember seeing one person who had basic photos of the process but they were a blogger or something from memory. I’ve never spoken to the staff in English so am unsure if they always have an English speaker there. As Monty says though, the process is very easy even without knowing Japanese. 

I was flicking through Volks News to get ready for the After Party and noticed they announced several heads would be discontinued. Don’t remember seeing that mentioned here so if people are interested these heads are no longer available:

DCH01: M01

DCH02: M01, M02, M03 (so I guess this head is totally discontinued for now?)

DCH03: M01

DCH04: M01

The staff person that helped me was new there and knew limited English but together it worked well. I knew which one I wanted so it was mostly just pointing 🤣 it could come in handy to know some words. Also after each step (selecting the head, eyes etc) he would show it to me and ask if this was okay/what I wanted. So I think it would be hard to get something you don't want since they make sure you're okay with everything. 

About the pictures I also think they aren't allowed but I was way to mesmerized by the whole process to ask and think about pictures 😅🤣🤣

The staff who helped with my dream choice girl knew very little English, but it was totally fine--most of the process was just pointing at pictures, as others have mentioned. They also offered to let me look at the catalogue before I booked my appointment, which helped me think about what to pick ahead of time! During the dream choice process itself, she was very good about demonstrating each option when I dithered between choices (I had a hard time choosing eyes lol) and she pointed out which options were exclusive to dream choice before I made any selection. 

I have a friend going to Japan for a few weeks and I'm so tempted to ask him to stop by and get a tan gal for me. I just wish there was a webpage with available faceups so I could screenshot it and say "go for this".

Are there any newer additions to the dream choice limited wig/wig color selection? When I had a proxy get my tan girl last summer it was the candy pink/milk white/melon green/soda blue and I don’t really remember the hairstyles. 

Gonna try my luck at finding a proxy for a tan DCH17 before the month ends.

I think they add a boy style wig and a chin cut wig, a new color dark red and dark grey.

Oooh the blunt cut wig looks SO cute. Knowing me and my love for limited colors I would get the red one and have nobody who would use it lol. The grey pearl wigs are a really nice silver lavender color though so getting that color is a good option too I guess

Well good news: I have a proxy and they’re going to get my girl on the 21st! Expect some more toothy DCH17 goodness. I’m making mine a mischievous dragon/demon sorta thing!
