Doll Point ‘Build-a-DD’: Dream Choice!

Echoing that I love 24 and 26. Excited to see more pictures of them and maybe even more than that the customs? They both seem to have great potential for repainting. Wish they would show us more about the other default makeup options they have too.

The new sculpts are SO exciting, I'm glad I held off on getting a boy because I'd love the 26. I really love the 24 also, and is it just me, or does 23 remind anyone else of the Rem sculpt? 

(Definitely thought I was safe for awhile since I'm not going to get either of the limiteds this time)

I am so glad that I am not the only one who is not enamored by the fees they charge and how they try to justify it.  I am all for giving proxies their due because they do provide a service.  I am happy to cover transportation cost if any and then pay a reasonable fee for their time/effort.  But I have seen ones who charge exorbitant fees for things, even to the point that the fee for just the item cost more than the original price of the item! I have had proxies turn the price of yen direct to use (say it was 20000 yen they turn that into $200usd) for the 20% markup.  Wait, you just got a 10% markup on the conversation factor (maybe more maybe less depending…it was more at the time of my experience) and you want another 20%?!? Plus other fees? 
 

Sorry for the rant. I understand that people want to make money and living in Japan affords some unique opportunities.  I am glad there are those willing to help us collectors overseas obtain things that we normally would not have access to. I am happy to compensate these ones in a fair manner, a very fair manner.  But I do not appreciate getting ripped off or taken advantage of.  I feel that is what some proxies do.  Others are amazing to work with and are extremely fair in pricing.
 

It is the same with anything, there are good and bad apples in every business.  People will have varying experiences and opinions.  Research and get your stuff in writing.  Ask for all fees so you will not have any nasty surprises.  May we all find our perfect match in proxy (there are plenty of choices) and then bring home our beloved dolls or whatever it is we are looking for.  Take care all!

Yes I definitely see Freyja and Kizuna in the sculpt also!!

From the front 23 seems to be very reminiscent of the standard Volks cute smiley face sculpt you see on dolls like Uzuki, Mio Honda, Kizuna and Freya, but the side profiles makes her look very unique IMO. 

I found this reference for the eyes, are the options that are not on Volks website D'coord only or are they available for the Dollfie Dream Choice system?

N and O are limited to the doll point physical store (I’d say most of the time you can’t find something, this may be the issue)

Not sure what Q’s descriptions says (it’s in Chinese) but it’s also limited in some way

This doesn’t show dream choice limited eyes which used to be only T-type, but has now added X and W

Thanks for your help!  I'll try to find the reference for the 3 Dream Choice limited eyes to put here (I think I'm going to stick with the U-type for my own doll, not having good pictures of the eyes kinda complicates mock-ups -weirdly I can't order anything without a mock-up first :D...-).

Q type are gashapon limited eyes  Iirc M & P type are discontinued.

Oh no! I'm definitely obsessed with 26, especially after seeing those scans. It looks like I'm going to have to save back up. 😭

Same here, Starr. He looks just like the boy I have been trying to create. So gorgeous!

New dolls out in Osaka - the eyes seem less narrow in person if you ask me.

Oh my gosh, is that last one with the blue wig DCH-25? Such a great androgynous look, would suit as a boy or girl!! I'm in love, especially with this faceup!

dch-23 is adorable and dch-24 really does look like kaede but with less defined lips

It should be 25 - 25’s eye holes are wider than 26.  He can get away with the larger eyes (light gray wig is also 25 and using old eyes).  I’m not so sure 26, dark gray wig, could pull off anything but the new narrow ones unless you want his eyes to be flooded.

25 with the wider nose almost looks like a semireal sculpt. I wonder if he'd look good next to an Icon? 

...Am I going to end up with a 21, 25 and 26 when I go to Japan next year? I think I need to start planning to proxy at least one of them...

Argh, why do I get the feeling that I'm gonna need a lot of money if I ever go to Japan? 🤣 These dolls are so pretty, I wanna cry! I hope it's not hard to arrange a visit to their shop.

@Katsudon From what others have said it’s not hard at all, you can even do it on the spot without a reservation if it isn’t busy, otherwise you can make an appointment to come back later (for that reason it might be better to go early in the day and early in the trip in case you do have to come back later).

I hope this is the appropriate place to ask - what are some proxies I could make an inquiry with to order one of these dolls? I'd love to have a tan MDD (...someday!) but the lack of an online catalog obviously makes this difficult. I'm a complete newbie to the doll community so... lol;; 

I know there is one on Instagram, but I don't have an Instagram account (I guess I could make one if need be), so I wanted to see if there were options to shop around? (Or any I should avoid?)
