Pink-Yoshi Posted June 17, 2017 I've never shipped a whole DD before and wondering where to get a box to ship them. I would need to ship it with the DD box to, so one of those longer boxes. So besides the shipping boxes that come from Volks, where can I get a box that will fit the DD box?
Mario Posted June 17, 2017 I just bought a box specifically for lamps. It's the only one which I was able to fit the special DD boxes in.(Ex Miku's box which is much bigger than the default Volks yellow box) You can find lamp boxes in specialty stores. Moving stores etc. This is an example of what you will be looking for.(This is not the one I purchased, but I got something similar, and mine had a GIANT fragile lettering printed on it.) https://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Boxes/Electronics-Boxes/Lamp-Box?Id=2747 Unfortunately usually these boxes are slightly bigger than the special DD boxes, so you have to wrap them in plenty of bubble wrap. I have yet to find a box which can fit the special DD box perfectly.
galatia9 Posted June 17, 2017 If you can get a big sheet of corrugated cardboard, you can wrap a DD box in it. Or if you can get a large cardboard box, you can cut it open down one side and wrap a DD box in it. You can also wrap the DD box in bubble wrap before wrapping it in the cardboard for an extra layer of protection. jadepixel Posted June 18, 2017 If you're shipping just the doll and not a doll box too, you can take the DD apart at the middle torso joint and fit them in a more square shipping package (with lots of cushioning!) jadepixel doll lab jadepixel eye shop
SakuraSylph Posted June 19, 2017 There's also the cheapy option of using the Priority Mail boxes from the post office, which are free - as long as you're going to ship the doll Priority Mail. As long as you don't use flat rate boxes (the ones that specifically say flat rate on them), nobody cares if you cut up the by-weight boxes to remake into a large box. The Priority Mail boxes tend to be pretty rigid cardboard and are good at offering protection as the outer shell, so they're a good basis to construct a box from. As another alternative, you can purchase Uline 30x10x10 boxes and cut down to size - this is what VolksUSA usually does for dolls. SakuraSylph
