Balance problem?

Recommended Posts

Shailara

Hey guys, I hope this is the right place to ask this T_T And I'm sorry if there's a thread that this has been brought up before and I'm blind to it.

So, I was trying to balance my DD3 body to take photos of my girl with her new eyes and the shawl I made for her, and for some reason she would very hardly find balance to stand... I had her on a wooden desk, so it wasn't the surface's fault (I think ahaha).

My MDD has some cracked skeleton parts and is super loose, and whenever I try to make her stand, her knees buckle and she falls. My DD3 feels nothing like that... I did quickly inspect inside the torso (very quickly, it's hot and I'm tired ahaha) and nothing seemed broken, and she doesn't really feel loose... just no matter how I positioned her legs, she couldn't seem to balance, she would waver either backwards or to the front and then commence to dive towards the ground...

Anyone know what could be at fault? I don't remember her being so difficult to balance before, my DDS is definitely nothing like that, so I don't know if I suddenly lost the ability to pose my dolls or gravity is playing tricks with me or could be a skeleton problem or what

It's just the universe is out to get us. My new Saber will stand on her own just fine, mostly, for now. But Miku and Yaya its a fight. And most times I just give up and prop them against something. And the longer I have Saber, the less willing she is to free standing. I think some of it is looseness, as Saber is the tightest of my girls, but I also think it has to do with center of gravity (CG). Well, actually physics dictates it all has to do with CG. When they are new the CG doesn't change much as its really hard to pose them. But as we pose them more, then we don't always get them back to the perfect posture they came with, so the CG shifts from their core center, and that makes them more tipsy. And I've noticed that the core center for standing is a very small zone, so it's hard to get back to it once you have left it.

Sorry for the science, I'm an engineer by profession.

I realize some of it would have to do with looseness that comes with time... but my DDS is older (if i recall correctly HAHA) and poses better TvT)a It just seems a bit bizarre that the CG is such a small margin... and like with people, if you put the feet further apart, it should be bigger, and yet she still didn't want to stand... your explanation makes quite a bit of sense, and thank you for the science!

I'm glad there's someone else out there with the same problem as me though (sorry for being glad for it!!!), it always seems like everyone has such an easy time posing their girls and such and I'm here like PLEAAAASE!

I am having a similiar issue with my DDS. If I try and maker her stand in any shoes with a slight heel she'll have the tendency to keel over to the right. Shoes without heels or bare feet she can stand fine though. Kinda sucks though since the character never takes off her boots .

So maybe it might be a footwear issue?

I just keep all of my girls on stands. Though I've never had any particular issues balancing them off the stand briefly for photos; you just have to adjust legs/torso/head and even their arms to centre their weight so they don't tip. Depends entirely on the pose, outfit and even wig (long wigs are heavier and will pull them backwards, obviously).

Actually, my DDS doesn't have shoes and my DD3 is wearing some with slight heel too... :V i did wonder if it might be the shoes but then I thought nahhhh... but maybe there really is something there...

Eustia That makes sense since they're so lightweight... TAT But long wigs are sooooo pretty!

I only have one girl that has issues with standing, and the issues persist even after getting her a new body and no matter how I dress her, so I'm left to assume that she just wants to fall over because she thinks it's hilarious.

She stands like a rock until comedic timing demands she fall.

I had her model another shawl I made for a friend and she stood like a freaking champ even with small alterations to her pose... same clothes and wig otherwise... 8l I'm thinking she just didn't like her shawl...

Anyone that says they don't have their own personalities is a fool. They may be dolls, but they aren't just dolls.

The above is a completely true statement and I will KNOW it is true until the day I die.

I gave up counting the girls I own, they keep multiplying and won't stop.

I know that feeling! I was taking the photos for this, and while Miku stood through almost the whole thing, Homura (who is an Obi50 and normally stands the best of all my dolls) kept flopping over AND tossing her wig on impact.

Then, the SECOND I said out loud it was time to go back inside, Miku fell over in protest.

Apparently Homura hates the cold as much as I do, but Miku loves it!
