Code Geass Collab: Smart Doll Lelouch

Danny just announced on twitter that pre-orders open soon.

 

Anyone else totally excited for this guy!? I'm bouncing off the walls because Lelouch is one of my favourite anime characters (and characters designs) ever, and I think he's utterly luscious in Smart Doll form

 

I'm really hoping Shirley gets made too; although I'd expect Suzaku, CC and Kallen first.

Oh man looks like he'll be my next one at this rate. lol

It says that he comes with two faceups but I can't really figure out what the difference between the two are. They both look the same to me.

Eyebrows and mouth are different. One more frowny.

I'm so excited!! I am not prepared! I hope he isn't too pricey because I want to get him immediately and I don't want to have to sell stuff.

It says pre-order , does that mean hes only available at this initial preorder

 

or in the future if you want to order him, youll need to wait awhile for him to be custom manufactured

Jw, does 2 faceups mean 2 heads or 2 options to choose from? O_o If the former, he'd be hella pricey...

I think it's two separate heads. I'm not looking forward to that increased cost...

It feels like this 2-option-head idea isn't going to be particularly profitable. Is he miscalculating or does he just want the doll to be very exclusive?

Oh boy, I'm not too fond of this 2 head thing, but I really do hope it's an optional pick. >_>

I don't want to be stuck with a floating head + increased price just because it has 2 heads If he does sell them both in 1 doll I'm still going to buy it and just sell the head I don't want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Glad I'm not the only one unhappy with the 2 head idea! I'm honestly not sure why Danny is doing it this way. Letting us just pick which head version we wanted seemed a lot better. I don't want the Geass head (and couldn't afford both anyway) so I'm in talks with someone to hopefully split the order. Kind of dreading seeing his pricetag, heh.

My issue with the two head thing is that they don't look all that different... I've seen resin dolls that come with an optional second head with closed eyes and something like that would be fine. Especially if it were optional. But it's literally the exact same head with a slightly different faceup. It seems disappointing. I'd feel obligated to put the head to some other use but I'm not really sold on having OCs sharing sculpts. I could try modding it and seeing if I can then dye it for Markus. But I feel like even then he'd be miffed at technically being sculpt brothers with Jace. Plus that means I need another freaking smart doll body and he isn't selling them right now...

Looking at the retweeted pics, I still really like how normal/happy Lulu looks! But the Geass face using the same sculpt bothers me because the mouth seems to be sculpted to match the wider normal face's smile so the frown ends up with those awkward shadows at the corners.. ><" Even though I like the sculpt for Lelouch I'm still unsure if I think he will work for one of my dudes. Most of the time I think it'll work just fine, but other times I think I should just keep waiting for more guys to be made. That being said, if any of you guys plan to sell off one of the heads(if Danny makes 2 heads mandatory) I might jump on one of them anyway.. @__@"

@Mimiyo3 - yes, I know what you mean. If the faceup difference was more drastic, or if they were two different sculpts, it would make more sense. But I think we all know by now that Danny seems to like using the same sculpts, and similar faceups, over and over. That seems to be the no.1 complaint I've seen from veteran collectors about his dolls. I remember when Miho was revealed and people were disappointed that she was basically a cosplaying Mirai, heh.

 

I'm glad that Lulu looks different to Eiji, and Crimson Kai. I feel like he's the one I've been waiting for But yeah, the 2 head thing is strange *shrug*

 

I predict there will be an influx of Lulu heads on the markets soon because a lot of people won't want both xD and annoyingly, the bodies do seem to have vanished from the shop. How much were they originally? Like 38000?? Or am I thinking of the DIY kits?

YIKES....the price of two heads won't be pretty. They look great but they are barely different from each other to justify getting both (unless you're a hardcore Lulu fan). It'd be a poor business decision to force customers to get both.

Danny's recent email says that Lulu is available in August!!!

I definitely want to see what Suzaku looks like sometime soon after getting Lelouch. I wonder if he'd work well for Markus... I might use the second Lelouch head and mod it if nothing else? Still, Markus is going to need to be dyed so who knows what I'm going to do.

^ I think he's has changed since then...is it a faceup/sculpt change, or only that Danny now styles the hair differently? I find it difficult to tell, lol. This is the more recent version that's been on display as CJ store, anyways.

 

 

He's soooo handsome. I'm so happy I waited for for my perfect 1/3 vinyl boy instead of pouncing on Eiji when he was first released. I also almost got a Granado Vindoll at one point, lol. They're all awesome but Lulu is a dream come true.

Yeah, you're right about the bangs. Is this what Danny was talking about when he said that one head/wig will be 'styled' and the other won't? It's amazing how much difference it makes O__O

 

Danny's last email update said Lulu is coming this month, and since Sana is due out on the 13th, I guess Lulu's release will be at least a week afterwards so as not to step on her toes. Probably the last couple of weeks in August is my guess...

 

I reckon he's going to be in the 80000 yen - 82000 yen range. I hope it's not more
