Possible fix for staining clothes?

Recommended Posts

baldylox

I've been seeing this ad quite a lot on Facebook and Youtube and now I'm really thinking this might be a viable option for making doll clothing non staining. Take a look at this site and watch the videos:

https://www.nonwater.com/

If they can make liquids and things like mustard just fall off of clothing for people, can't it work the other way too? Can you imagine if you sprayed this treatment on a known stain monster like the Saber Maid set and then put it on a girl and it DIDN'T stain ever again?

I'm seriously thinking of trying this out just to see if it will work. I'd also use it on my workboots to keep them dry and to repel chemicals I use day to day. But the main reason I'd try this is to test for stain prevention for my girls.

What do you guys think?

Sounds amazing if it works! Please do tell us how it goes if you test it!

I don't think it will work because as I know it just creates a plastic coating on the fabric. As I experienced, really dark clothes/wig stained my dolls even if they were wearing silicone headcaps... I hope I'm wrong, tho! And I'm looking forward to further updates!

I would be concerned about the long term affects this material might have on vinyl.

I would be too. Maybe coat an older bust in the stuff to test?

I think he wanted to coat the clothes, not the doll itself

I wonder... it repels water, but would it protect against dye? I've read somewhere that it's a bit of a chemical transfer going on when vinyl picks up stains. It'd be great if it works though! Honestly I'd love to get this stuff for my own shoes.

That's because silicone is porous. The dye travels through it into the doll's skin. Silicone headcaps are not to prevent stains, but to jut help loose wigs in place.

Thanks for all the input guys! This is what I was after, comments on what yall thought before I tried anything out.

I still want to buy this stuff for my work boots so that's a done deal.

As for trying it out on doll stuff, I never planned to spray the girls themselves, ONLY the clothing. I'll take a known staining piece, coat it as per the instructions and then try it out on a spare bust I have just for this purpose. Then I can see how it works and *if* it works.

If it does work and nothing goes wrong with the vinyl or the clothing then we will have found something to help us keep our girls safer!

I don't think you'd lose anything... if an outfit is a stain monster it makes sense you'd never use it anyways. Their value is pretty low because they cause staining so replacement if you were to actually want one wouldn't be terribly expensive unless it was rare, but even then, if it's a stain monster, then it's desirability might be a lot lower and then in turn drive price lower.

Very good points!
