I'm not sure where you live, but I'm in Ontario, Canada and found some small metal snaps that are the perfect size at a store called Fabricland. They came on a cardboard card with about 9 snaps and caps. The metal cap is just plain and silver coloured but you can paint it with crafting paint. Maybe this helps?
