Just got the notification from VolksUSA! Was able to get her! Congrats to everyone who was able to snag this beauty! I’m so excited to have her! (Honestly I was getting worried!)

I was so worried, haha. Relieved it wasn't really a loss after all! Now to wait.

She arrived this morning.

 

Just a few notes.

 

She is gorgeous.

 

Her wig is kind of meh. I think the fibers are fine, but it's pretty messy with lots of flyaway hairs. I do think it can be salvaged with some TLC, but I also wonder if I have the skill to do it. I'm not the best when it comes to handling wigs. They're the hardest part of this hobby to me.

 

Her ears aren't pierced, just like with Anastasia. Her earrings aren't anything special, so I am going to hold off on piercing them.

 

It would be nice if Volks released earrings for DDs along with their outfit collections.

 

You see, over the years I have come to develop a suspicion that girls may like this jewelry stuff. If this hypothesis is correct then Volks needs to release a larger variety of jewelry items.

 

Her sleeves fit very tightly on the arms so you have to work them on carefully.

 

The blue fur bit was on her briefly, and it didn't stain, but it makes me nervous.

 

Her choker has a hinge in the back. The jeweled piece in the front comes off and you unfold it to get it on her neck.

 

The piece on her chest goes into two loops sewn into the front the dress. This is not so nice since it means you can't really put them dress on her without that piece in place.

 

I could not get her upper arm jewelry on. I am sure it can be put on her, but it fits pretty tightly and I was reluctant to break it.

 

Her casual outfit is lined with a dark silver material. I think it's going to require some stain testing before she wears it.

That's Alphond Tan's custom Kaede it's being shown on. From reading a while ago, I think they made the wig at his request, but I may be wrong on that.

It cleaned up more easily than I thought it would. Basically I used a comb to edgewise to carefully pull the stray fibers into a better semblance of order. It took a very light touch though.

Here she is. I put her casual outfit on for a short while, and didn't get any immediate stains.

 

 

When she arrived her wig looked like this.

 

 

The flyaway hairs were all on the surface, and the ends of the curls were a bit messy. The hair groups themselves were pretty tight, so with some really careful combing of just the lose surface hairs and the tips of the curls it cleaned up nicely.

 

One thing I did find is you have to be careful with her part in the front or you will see the wig cap. It could use a bit more adjustment in my photo above.

 

I've posed her a bit, and I find her mouth looks best with her head tilted a but down, but that's just me.

The curls are quite firm, so getting some of the parts that are supposed to be posed in more of an in motion look is difficult since they just want to pop back into place. It might work with wig wax, but I really don't like putting stuff in their hair.

I know; I'm hesitant to put anything on the wigs too.

I didn't initially recognize her; she's vere pretty like that I think.

Found a picture of Kaede sitting on one of the Volks doll suitcases in a rather unladylike manner.

Volks is still saying it will be restocked but that doesn't always seem to mean anything.
