The Great Poliwhirl Heist, & other shenanigans [Boston Meet]

On Tuesday Chise, buncho, and I met up in Boston and had a photoshoot!

Her Grace, Saber, belongs to Chise; Mei (hair in buns, wearing shorts and a cropped blouse) belongs to me; Sayuri (long hair, t-shirt, jeans) belongs to buncho.

 

Apologies in advance for the image quality: it was pretty dark so my ISO was at 3200 and my DSLR is from 2010 so that means it's pretty grainy.

 

Chise and buncho, please feel free to post your shots here or make your own thread as you prefer!

 

Mei: "Eeeeh...th--this had better not open outwards...!" *tugs on handle*

^ This is the shot that inspired the title.

Back on solid ground again....

But Poliwhirl and Eevee are having no more of this. Riding off into the sunset, they leave these rapscallions behind...

to continue trying to get in... and to get busted by the police.

 

Fun fact: some rando did actually call the police on us. Apparently three people posing dolls in a park with cameras is "suspicious behavior". After Chise and buncho explained that we were hobbyists taking photographs, the policemen said, "Well, as long as you're not doing any drugs..." and wandered off.

 

Nonetheless, the meet and photoshoot was a lot of fun! I'm very glad we managed to meet up.

Very dramatic! Looks like you guys had fun.

Although....suspicious behavior? What the hell. What did they THINK you were up to?

Torino, my guess is that whoever put the call in thought we were either a. running a drug deal or b. vandalizing public property (which has already happened multiple times in Boston-- the Holocaust memorial was vandalized for the second time this summer on August 15th )

 

I see where they got it from-- we were all hunched over together around the side of this little house, slightly hidden from the view of people walking by on the street, we had all of our backpacks next to us, we didn't (at the time) have any flashlights on... but, we had also been there before it got dark, and I would think what we were doing/our intentions would have been well established to anyone walking by at that point.

my phone was so busy being our flash/spotlight ... that didn't actually get shots ;_;

yes, there are signs not to climb on these. Technically Mei is climbing her Eevee....

My job and apartment have been finalized (*sighs in relief*) so hopefully we can do more Boston meets, and I'll try to bring flashlights etc so that you don't have to sacrifice your photo-taking ability for the sake of cinematic lighting ^_^

Time for another round of bubbletea to celebrate? There's a shop near Govrnm Center that has honey toast & custard buns (its like a tiny bakery right out of anime)

Speaking of flashes - if your camera has a hotshoe space, I have a small speedlight we can pop into it (or can hold it for experimenting with off-camera light sources)
