It's better than not "winning" and certainly better than preordering her and waiting a year for her, only to find out it got delayed.

 

 

This will at least give me some prep time for me to get her some stuff.

I would love to try my hand at the clickwar on Volks USA tomorrow, but I cannot afford her right now. I am hoping she has some extras/cancellations that Volks releases in a couple of months (like Rin/Len). . . . or hear that she is re-released at Magical Mirai every year so I can try to have someone buy her for me.

I didn't enter the lottery in fear of being part of the november batch so I might try to get her tomorrow through VolksUSA. I think if you purchase Luka through VolksUSA, she ships out in August.

Given the track record of male dolls being released alongside female dolls, it makes sense that they'd do him and Meiko together...

 

Frankly it would seem weird to me if they were not released together since their voicebanks were released together (If I'm remembering right, my brain categorizes it as 'ancient Vocaloid history...' aka long before I knew about them ) Even if they never are released by Volks I think by this point they are inevitable for me, customs or otherwise. It would just be convenient if they did a full set of the Crypton Vocaloids. I cannot even express how much I wish Kamui (Gakupo) was a Crypton... He, Len & Kaito are such a cannon trio that I often forget that he's not (much of the time paired with Kiyoteru...) The only other Vocaloids I've thought about from time to time of doing is Lola (Black ver. either Smart Doll or dyed DD) Leon (Blond ver.) & Kaai Yuki as an MDD for Raven. I would consider Big Al too but since Ralph has already claimed the voice there is no need, but it certainly makes Ralph even more hilarious. Naiomi being Sonika just seems so fitting for her too. (Even her magic is 'off key' and just sorta wonky. But I still love Sonika even if she is hard to work with.)

 

But I'm glad that Luka will be home in Nov./Dec. because then it will give me some time to figure out about other clothes for her. We finally have enough girls that we already have Luka's body type (Darla) so I won't have to wait for her to be here to work on some clothes. And yet that presents it's own problem if my OCD takes control and ruins everything by setting a level of unreachable perfection that stresses me out until I have a breakdown again. (OCD is so much more than washing hands too much or checking stove dials.) So these months I'm hoping that I will figure out who Luka is for me so I can figure out unique clothes for her that do not rely on remaking her modules. Even that I've got mixed feelings about because I know I certainly have the skills to do reproduction outfits if my OCD doesn't poison everything. I already know quite a bit about Luka and one of my favorite 'versions' of her is the quiet bookworm persona. And how Volks did her sculpt I think is perfect for that. Hmmm... interesting. I just saw her in (Disney) Belle's library just having a grand old time. I think that pretty much sums up how I think of her on an everyday level compared to her Vocaloid outfit being her performance clothing.

 

I'm really curious to know what persona others will adopt for her Luka since there really is a wide variety to choose from even just based on the fan videos/artwork and Project Diva.

They weren’t released together though.... Meiko was the first one released and Kaito came out a year later. (And then Miku the following year). They’re just usually shoved together as the two least popular Crypton ones (and also as the two ‘mature’ ones, and for a long time they were the two in the original Vocaloid1 engine only whereas Miku and the rest were made for the Vocaloid2 engine, Miku being the first Vocaloid on Vocaloid2, so they weren’t as ‘advanced’, although they eventually got updated for Vocaloid3)

I think that must be why Meiko tends to sound weird and mechanical, and whatever improvements the updates did haven't completely removed that. I like producer shu-t (Shuichi Tanaka) but he alternately makes her sound good or weird and that seems common with her.

 

Maybe it's something about range or who knows what as well. I love Luka but Luka in English I can't stand to listen to.

 

I'm really curious to know what persona others will adopt for her Luka since there really is a wide variety to choose from even just based on the fan videos/artwork and Project Diva.

I'm making a custom Luka since I didn't like what Volks did with her, but I'm planning to put her in a business suit if I can find one of the Volks ones that I want to buy available somewhere. I like that look for her (like "Hello Worker" in Project Diva) plus it's an official look I can get for her without having to get an outfit made. I'm hoping Volks makes other outfits too; the Senbonzakura one isn't something I wanted.

My boyfriend put in an entry for her for my birthday / Christmas present, and I'll be getting her in November as well ♥

since my birthday is in August I guess it wouldn't have mattered when she'd come in, since I get to play with her early.

I know nothing about her personality in the context of Vocaloids, but just looking at her she seems like she would be both softer and more mature than Miku. Miku always strikes me as a bit of a brat.

I'd be curious to see that suit on a DD. I suspect you would have to modify that suit to fit a DD girl. If it fits SD16 girl it's likely going to be big on DDIII. Iirc all the SD boys are a bit bigger than the equivalent SD Girl in their same line, and the boys waist will be wider.

Volks claims that suit fits DDdy which at least may take care of the waist size issue. Of course, Volks definition of "fits" can be pretty loose (pun intended).

I can't find the page now, but one of the Volks chair stand pages shows a DD wearing the pants for this one and it appears to fit.

Needs a couple of other changes like black stockings but that'd be cute and there's a Miku Project Diva module like that.

That sounds like a great idea. You can get a variety of hats from Dollheart, but I don't recall if any are true top hats.

I would check out freedomteller for a suit. their new designs come in exact DDL measurements and their older ones SD16 will fit large bust and likely ddy.

I had the Sebonzakura set in my cart 4 SEPARATE TIMES, and each time the damn system glitched out at the shipping (something about "shipping updated"), and it was removed from my cart. WTF Volks?

 

I'm so angry right now I want to cry!!

 

The site is real slow but seems like Luka is still instock. I thought she'd be sold out instantly.

I'm buying the Senbonzakura outfit for a friend which is also still in stock. It literally just sold out.

I'm actually surprised it sold out. Seemed like they would have a lot. Back in stock. Not Senbonzakura though.

Ouch both of those sound rough and I'm sorry you missed your items. I don't think they had many at all. >< I didn't actually get the Sebonzakura set in the end because it sold out in the middle of confirming check out. Seems like this was a rough clickwar. ><

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone in my misery. The site was so slow, but I managed to add the outfit to my cart. Due to how slow it was I decided to wait a bit for the click war to die down. It was in my cart, so I was safe, right? I guess not. 30min later I went to checkout and it's no longer in my cart. What gives Volks? Even the INT site keeps it in your cart. I am fuming right now. This is unacceptable. This is the 1st time Volks USA has let me down.

No Luka for me. What a nightmare.

I wouldn't have a problem if it was like the main Volks website and secures it once you have it in cart. I probably also wouldn't fuss so much if I was genuinely "outclicked". But I put it in my cart, and a glitch in their system through checkout dumped me, 4 times in a row. I never got past the stupid shipping page (which, on one go round, refreshed 5 or 6 times with the infuriating "Updated Shipping"... nothing changed?!?).

 

I don't know what else I could have done, or why the site decided that it hated my cart in particular. I'm now worried that this will affect my future chances if Volks USA goes back to the clickwar model.

I just sent Volks an email with a link to this thread about how we got items in our carts, but they were pulled out during the check out process. That really isn't acceptable. If their system is too weak to handle a click war, they shouldn't hold them. If an item makes it to our cart, it should pull it out of inventory then and not wait until the payment is processed. I'm fine with if you haven't checked out in an hour or two that they pull it, but for it to get removed in 20 minutes or while you are entering payment information is not right. now Miyu won't get her maid outfit.

The cart/checkout think is how the VolksUSA webstore has worked for YEARS. It's always been "first to checkout" and not "first to cart." They're aware of it.

 

I've always hated it, which is why I refuse to do clickwars on VolksUSA.

I hate that they've gone back to clickwar style since it's really stressful and unreliable, especially with the current site shop design. I usually go for Volks Int sales since I can go first for my must-have item and then pick up anything else I want at my leisure.

 

In my experience Volks USA doesn't hold items that are in the cart - it's a race to checkout first, and you don't have any guarantee until checkout is complete.
